Smugness is a nauseating character trait in and of itself, but nothing makes one reach for the puke bucket like the spectre of smug children piously reciting the smug words of smug adults. In tonight's video (h/t Jowita Bydlowska of Ryberg Curated Video) child actors hired by British media and communications agency PHD Worldwide use high-level marketing jargon to warn marketing agencies to "up their game." Contrived, precious, and cloying to the nth degree, here's We Are The Future.

"Data have just been released from a survey completed this week which confirm the implacable, murderous irredentism of Israel’s Palestinian Muslim 'peace partners.'

Foseti asks:
"Fans of open borders often say that borders are meaningless ('lines on a map' – as if people haven’t been dying for lines on a map for ages). However, they simultaneously believe that if lots of people from country B move to country A somehow country A will not be fundamentally changed. What, other than borders, gives country A this seemingly magically property of functioning independently of its population?"
One of his commenters replies:
"The kind of person who believes that borders are just lines on a map also believes that diversity only causes the transfer of positive attributes. As soon as a migrating person sees the aspects of their new home that are better than the comparable aspects of their old home they will quickly abandon those concepts for those of the new home. If we open our borders we won’t get narco-thugs, female circumcision, or mutaween, we’ll just get nifty food and wise stories encouraging a better and more spiritual social fabric."
This weekend I was driving down the highway and saw a guy riding a chopper and wearing (white!) capri pants. My foreign passenger immediately proclaimed him a "pederast". Man, I remember when rural bikers definitely weren't metrosexuals. WTF is happening..
Video: NASA Dawn reaches Vesta Update: Climate change science impact?
Paleoclimate studies, where scientists look into the past to try and understand changes in Earth’s climate, may be a waste of time if astronomers are correct in their theory that relatively minor bodies like the asteroid Vesta can cause chaotic fluctuations in Earth’s orbit. NASA’s Dawn space-probe flew by Vesta last Saturday…

The ad has an edge of intimidation. A threat. Either up your game the way we demand, or our demographic will block your sales. Herd mentality, alright.
These kids are creeping me out:)
Welcome Back EBD.
Normally I'd tell children to study and work hard so they'd have the skills to build upon what the generations that came before them have given them, but it seems the desire of these children is not only to not contribute, but to also be rewarded for their non-contributions.
They deserve what the Boomers have left for them.
Yike! Kids in 'We Are The Future' provide an eerie reminder of the children in the 1960 UK movie 'Village of the Damned.'
Those kids are gonna be surprised when the get backhanded by life.
Looks like there's a new ME generation coming that will make the old ME generation look like a pack of altruists.
Those cocky and rather homely kids are going to grow up in a world where they won't be able to afford the technology and will never pay off their student loans and never move out of mom's basement if they should be so lucky to have a mom with a basement.
While they were busy texting, their politicians sold their future to the banker,s big industry, big government. Coincidentally, right at this moment in history, this unholy trinity that is locked in battle with those who are trying to stop them.
Or was that just an iPhone ad?
The children of the corn?
"The children of the corn?"
The smirking Niblets are calling the shots now.
I must confess, the last time a 12 yr old took that tone with me he landed on the other side of the kitchen...I then picked him up by one hand and we had a chat.
Sue me.
SDH, syncro, Abe: The ad IS revolting, but let's not forget that the kids are just little actors pronouncing the lines they've been given. That being said, I do find it disturbing that kids that age are even remotely capable of acting so smugly. Fifty years ago, I think you'd have had a hard time finding kids who were so cellularly pleased with themselves.
Sync, my son wasn't allowed to display that attitude, either. No way, no how.
Chutz
I've had it out with three of four sons...coincidentally enough three of them are now men.
These kids are Brits.
Well, in 20 years they'll be working 40 hours a week just to pay the jyza, so as to be allowed to live, perhaps in a ghetto if they are really lucky.
Is anyone else puzzled by the level of media attention being given to the Rupert Murdoch story? I realize this is a scandal and that the hacking was illegal, and that there must be consequences -- but there are now in excess of 8000 accessible from Google. I don't get why this story is being pushed as much as it is. Please enlighten me.
To Linda L @ 12:07 - The answer to your question can be found here.
And something else found at the PJ Tatler (as well as Theo Spark) is Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon giving a brief history lesson on the History of the West Bank.
They are not the future, they are the now and they are what we (or rather, they) created. Eliotic Hollow Men and Women, though it seems, mostly they will be women.

How do I get the point across showing humility?

Infinitysquared - I appreciated your advice about the five extra cats: I had been told men liked a woman with pussy cats galore, but you set me straight. I return the favour:
Your best bet is pity. Try for devil-may-care insouciance and then, when the time is right, cry about your father. Do you own a leather jacket?
re. the ad - I will personally murder each and every last one of those little b@stards, and no jury will convict me. Maybe they are only actors, but as far as I'm concerned that's not really a point in their favour.
And no, I'm not sleeping this week. The hallucinations are annoying but I feel I'm gaining a good deal in clarity.
Black Mamba, the clarity is not the result of inhaling Marc Emery's own brand of hell, I trust.
A leather coat is good, as long as it's not a fresh kill, which may be a turn off. I'm not sure about the crying. I guess it's all in the degree of blubbering. Tears of frustration may be more apt for "Stymied."

Ask any teacher: we deal with kids like this every day—and we're not supposed to push back. Give any of these spoiled, menacing, intimidating kids—especially if they’re middle school age—a deserved tongue lashing and it’s likely they’ll tattle tale to administration.
And our school systems are set up like Human Rights Commissions: the student’s/s’ word is taken as the truth—even from the most hardened miscreant. The teacher is then required to explain/justify his/her behaviour. If it’s decided that the teacher’s actions were justified, admin. heaves a huge sigh of relief: the teacher’s off the hook—but so is the kid! Administration knows the teacher has to just carry on, but if the kid’s told about the outcome—that the kid deserved what the teacher did—the kid won’t like it and will probably pursue it with his/her parents . . . These kids make teachers’ lives hell—and get away with it over and over. These kids, in quite large numbers, are already out there in adult bodies. E.g., They’re the ones who voted for Obama and, re the debt crisis, they’re the ones who are now giving him higher approval ratings than the Republicans. Be scared . . .

Kudos to Laureen and the PM. Most Canadians don't have anywhere near even $1-million with which to buy a home. $10,000,000 just to renovate?
Obscene.
Article by Bruce Bawer at Pajamas Media today, "Sharia in Toronto: The Muslim girls on their period have to sit in the back"
http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/sharia-in-toronto-the-muslim-girls-on-their-period-have-to-sit-in-the-back/
Now, this sort of thing should send a chill down the spine of anyone who understands what it means for a country to be free or for a school to be public. But nowadays all too many people — especially, it seems, people in positions of public authority — are quick to justify such outrages, as long as Islam is in the picture. In the National Post, for example, Tasha Kheiriddin quoted one Chris Spence, education director of the Toronto District School Board, as saying this:
As a public school board, we have a responsibility and an obligation to accommodate faith needs.
Uh huh.
Islamist's faith "needs" but not any other faith groups' needs.
The reason for the TDSB's acquiescence to Islam's "faith needs" is the TDSB's own survival -- and their being able to continue to live the lifestyle to which they've grown accustomed.
Given that Muslims are having far more children than the rest of us, and given that Muslim children won't be enrolled in Catholic schools, the TDSB's cash cow is the Muslims.
They're going to treat them right because they don't want them to go to an all-Muslim school. Each student comes with about $7000 from the provincial and municipal governments stamped on their forehead.
Just follow the money.
"As a public school board, we have a responsibility and an obligation to accommodate faith needs. (Spence)
batb, I always thought it was the opposite. Public schools were to be religion-free zones. Wasn't the recital of the Lord's Prayer suspended for that reason? Anyway, "accommodating" is a long way from "promoting". Students being signed out to attend prayers at the local mosque is "accomodation". Moving the mosque into the school is quite a different matter.
The school in question is 80-90% muslim. Some 1100 students are enrolled. 3-400 students participate in the prayers (though the photos seem to show far fewer). Even among the predominantly muslim student body, less than half actually participate.
It's definitely a wedge-in-the-door issue. The parents have succeeded in setting up their own private school with public money. And yes, each student comes with a hefty grant. Eleven hundred students times $7000....
rita, for a very long time it's always been the opposite -- that is, until the Muslims came along.
Spence is talking through his yin-yang. He is, after all, OISE-educated, which means he doesn't think straight and is able to talk out of all sides of every orifice, thinking, of course, that he's making perfect sense. That's what he gets paid the big bucks for: making sense -- well cents/dollars/gazillions of dollars for the salaries and benefits of him and his TDSB cronies.
What a rat's nest.
This is from EBD's post on the Palestinian survey.
" the 59% of Palestinians who are on Facebook."
It may be how they contact each other when food is found,or maybe the way they stay in contact with the now ignored 'flotilla fools'.Remember them, they went seeking publicity and ended up with little, not even a CBC crew to welcome them back as heroes.
Anyways, back to the 59% of Palestinians who are on facebook. When will someone in the MSM ever expose this massive aid fraud ?
Once again, our beloved CBC has erased all activity on my member's page.My posted comments are still up,but their action makes it very difficult for me to find them, and practically impossible for anyone else. This is the second time they have done this so I decided to write the ombudsman, for what little that is worth. I'm still awaiting replies from queries I sent them about 15 months ago.
Enough about me. While I was on the ombudsman page I came across this press release from the ombudsman regarding comments homophobic Don Cherry made about the Vancouver "riot". It's quite interesting.

Socialism's natural end result: poverty, envy, grievance, complaints, rage, etc.
Next up? Tyranny.
As viewed from the left: "The country's financial crisis is rapidly turning into a social one -- while wealthy tax evaders manage to get off scot-free."
"Greece is finished."
Socialism is the religion of the stomach.
...-
"Greece Threatened with Widespread, Long-Term Poverty"
"Greece is tightening its belt -- and the number of people living in poverty is surging as a result. Thousands line up in front of food banks and resort to rifling through rubbish bins. The country's financial crisis is rapidly turning into a social one -- while wealthy tax evaders manage to get off scot-free."
"This time, the fight for survival last exactly 29 minutes. At precisely 3 p.m., Father Andreas, a 37-year-old Greek Orthodox priest, opens the doors of the food bank in downtown Athens. At this hour, the line of hungry people stretches all the way across the large square outside and into the street. Needy people of all ages are waiting patiently -- pensioners, unemployed people, mothers with children, immigrants, asylum seekers. "We can't let these people starve," the priest says. "They are already suffering so much. They should at least not go without food."
It is a charitable deed. But in just under half an hour, all of the kitchen's 1,200 servings have been taken, causing several dozen people to leave with empty hands and growling stomachs. They can only hope to be among the lucky ones next time.
Katarina was one of the lucky ones. The 44-year-old got her hands on eight servings of a salad made of carrots, potatoes and peas, several yoghurts and a bag of bread -- the only food her family will have today. Katarina is ashamed and prefers not to give her full name. She and her 7-year-old daughter have to take a bus in from a suburb and travel all the way across the sprawling city just to get a warm meal.
Katarina was laid off from her job at a biscuit factory roughly a year ago. Since then, she's been forced to rely on the handouts paid for by what Father Andreas calls "holy money." Katarina says there are no more jobs to be had. "No one will even pay you to stuff mailboxes with advertisements anymore," she says. "Greece is finished."

Today's the 32nd anniversary of Nicaragua's Communist Sandinista (FSLN) revolution -- July 19, 1979. I'm "celebrating" by putting together some of my rescued photojournalism of their atrocities. Probably the most lifechanging event for me personally, and of interest to those of you who are Reagan era buffs. Hope to finish it this week and provide a link.
wallyj, I read the CBC Ombudsman's report on Don Cherry's quips after the Vancouver riot. What a tepid, saccharine little world the CBC is. Yech.
Yeah,CBC operates in their own little theater, complete with applause signs that let the fans know when to respond.
I went back and read the ombudsman's report again because the name of the complainant tweaked a memory. Sure enough, the name 'Garson Hunter',was in the news before. I'm not 100% certain that it is the same guy, there's probably thousands of self-righteous fools named "Garson Hunter" across the country.
Surprisingly,I linked to this video(here at SDA) when it was first broadcast. This "Garson Hunter" was against honouring our troops (Project Hero) who have given their life for the country. He teaches at the University of Regina, and probably doesn't do Quaalude's before media appearances, though that is not readily apparent .

"Modern Times, Again
"Meanwhile, has the President blinked on taxes? Is Obama in retreat and if so, what accounted for that retreat?"
"But the real reason that Rupert Murdoch was attacked was because he was a racist, and besides he was getting too many viewers despite the fact that nobody watches him. But really, certain people have to be justifiably attacked because they stir up violence to head off the cerebral electorate as interpreted by Keith Olbermann and Janeane Garofalo. So the end justifies the means and when you’re talking about bringing good into the world, you’ve got to break some eggs to make an omelet. Peace out man."

"Feds to send 1,800 phony Canadians packing"
"The federal government is moving to strip 1,800 people of their Canadian citizenship after concluding they became citizens using fraudulent means, QMI Agency has learned.
The massive investigation, unprecedented in its scale, involved the RCMP and the federal department of citizenship and immigration.
Since Confederation in 1867, the federal government has only ever revoked the citizenship of 67 people. Now it's ready to strip the citizenship of 1,800, although it will not be a quick process.
The 1,800 who are being targeted by the federal government will have the right to challenge the accusation in federal court, a process the department of justice itself says is complex and could take years to resolve."

"Quote of the Week – rubbishing peer review"
"Here I am, minding my own business, looking at my local newspaper, and just reading what is happening locally. Then, out pops this profound quote of the week that is just gobsmacking.
The first line of the story starts out like this:
CHICO — A graduate student researching local rattlesnakes has something to prove, but he isn’t yet sure of what.
Sounds like some climate science RFC’s I’ve read. But wait, there’s more. Get a load of the punchline:
Like I said, gobsmacking. I have no desire to quash any study of rattlesnakes, but the sheer arrogance of the statement about publishing a scientific paper “even if it’s garbage” was just mind blowing. I hope Mr. Woodruff uses better judgement in the future. For now, I’ll just assign it to the youthful indiscretion file that I’m sure every one of us has.
Full story here.
I am reminded though, of the Seinfeld episode."
