A former Czech prime minister "faces a criminal complaint over the statements on Islam he made in June at an international conference on Europe."
Among other statements, Milos Zeman suggested that Muslims were anti-Semitic, and that "Islam is far more aggressive and intolerant than (present-day) Christianity, Buddhism, Confucianism and other world religions."
SASKATOON IS TURNING INTO A SHIT HOLE,thanks to the policies of Don Atchison, city council and Murry Totland. These people are now scrambling for money to prevent a 5 to 10 percent increase to PROPERTY TAXES. On day 1 of the review they found a measly 160,000 worth of savings. I know where they can get 50,000 right now, cancel the 50,000 dollar study to ask bums what they think of a panhandling law. What a f'n waste of money. Can you believe Saskatoon has a bus shuttle service from the airport to downtown with only 2 or 3 riders per day. This costs you and I 300,000 dollars annually. I for one cannot afford any large property tax increases. The city of Saskatoon is on the fast track to a pile of shit. Fire Don Atchison, Murry Totland, and any councillor who spends your tax dollars on anything that isn't a core service. Saskatoon needs to get out of the Social Welfare business.

David Cay Johnston is having a rough day at work...Not just an embarrassing typo or a little bit off, but totally, absolutely wrong...."I have been at this for 45 years, I have never, until now, had to do anything like this. I am assiduous about correcting the record."
You decide.
Miles Heidt is a true politician. On Monday he is quoted as saying that "the city of Saskatoon needs to get back to core services". On Wednesday Miles doesn't have the balls to cut funding to a buss pass subsidy to people on WELFARE. This little program costs the TAXPAYERS of Saskatoon 1 million dollars per year. Notice I highlighted the word TAXPAYERS. I am one of these people and an sick and tired of being asked to pay more for others. All city councillors are a bunch of double talking assholes ready, willing and able to spend your money on any and all phoney baloney programs their little minds conjure up. Come on taxpayers of Saskatoon, email these councillors and tell them to stop taxing us to death. PS, most councillors won't respond as your opinion is not valued.

Deep Green Resistance (DGR) is an analysis, a strategy, and a movement being born, the only movement of its kind.As an analysis, it reveals the last 10,000 years of human history-the rise and dominance of civilization-as the culture of death that is now threatening every living being on Earth. The goal of DGR is to deprive the rich of their ability to steal from the poor and the powerful of their ability to destroy the planet.

Jeffrey Dvorkin of the Organization of News Ombudsmen said the letter from Sun Media's vice-president of editorial, which stated the "politically correct mentality" of the Ontario Press Council is "incompatible" with the direction of that company's newspapers, strips the company of much-needed transparency required to maintain public trust."

Hehe.. Sun is slapping the media pansies around and I'm loving it.
Toronto Sun, Sunday, July 10. Warren Kinsella on something he calls "voter suppression".
http://www.torontosun.com/2011/07/08/dirty-little-election-secrets
He compares the "threats, intimidation, electoral fraud and disappearing ballots" in the Third World to the Conservatives' 2007 "ad campaign carefully designed to depict the then-Liberal leader [Stephane Dion] as a weakling who couldn’t speak English". Which of course they reprised for the Michael Ignatieff "foreigner" ads in 2010-11. The whole idea is to get voters for other parties than yours to stay home on election day.
Yeah, well, wasn't that kind of like the Stephen-Harper-he's-so-scary trash we all remember from five or ten years ago? Who was responsible for that crap?
When it's not your ox that's being gored, it's normally just called "advertising". It's still legal to talk about other political parties than one's own. Lord knows the number of restrictions on free election speech has grown over the years, culminating when the Supreme Court preposterously upheld the outrageous third-party spending law in a 2004 decision called Harper. Now that the same Harper is prime minister, perhaps we can see that law sent to the round file.
Kinsella: "Voter suppression: It’s disgusting, it’s wrong, it’s anti-democratic."
More accurately, as Peter Marshall used to say on Hollywood Squares, "Turnabout fair play".
Toronto Sun, Tuesday, July 12. Warren Kinsella again. Apparently his previous column touched a nerve.
http://www.torontosun.com/2011/07/11/anger-unsuppressed
Kinsella: "In that column, I suggested some of those left and centre-left Canadians who stayed at home had been 'vote suppressed.' That is, they had been actually persuaded to embrace apathy by fiendishly clever Conservative Party strategists."
"It is worse than anti-democratic, I said: It corrodes democracy itself."
Yawn. Election ads do not "corrode democracy". Nowhere is it written that people must vote, otherwise democracy is somehow substandard. I have sometimes spoiled my ballot if there is nobody worth voting for. Like, only social engineers.
Is the real motive in all of this to advocate for even more unnecessary restrictions on election advertising -- even between elections? We should be moving in the opposite direction and defending the Charter right to freedom of speech.
But then he turns to something that is a concern, if true.
Kinsella: "innumerable Liberal supporters in the hotly contested London ridings reported receiving late-night calls of harassment -- spreading false information, for example, about polling stations being moved" ... most of the calls "came from smear-for-hire call centres in Florida or the Dakotas, which were beyond the reach of Canadian law" ... "Elections Canada announced in May they had launched an investigation".
This kind of thing is much closer to the aforementioned "threats, intimidation, electoral fraud and disappearing ballots", and it is a kind of fraud, making it "electoral fraud", which is (or should be) an offense.
But that's much more serious than merely trying to persuade people to stay home through ads aimed at the other parties. That's not a problem, nor should anyone pretend it is one.
In 1930, Hitler said: "Our adopted term ‘Socialist’ has nothing to do with Marxian Socialism. Marxism is anti-property; true Socialism is not."[113] In 1931, during a confidential interview with influential editor Richard Breiting of the Leipziger Neueste Nachrichten, a pro-business newspaper, Hitler said: "I want everyone to keep what he has earned, subject to the principle that the good of the community takes priority over that of the individual. But the State should retain control; every owner should feel himself to be an agent of the State ... The Third Reich will always retain the right to control property owners."[114]
Why does the Socialist of 2011 not call themselves the 21st Century Nazis, they have all the same policies. Although Hitler didn’t have AGW

The Sun News Network gets zero credibilty rating from this conservative until Ezra admits his mistake in treating anti Canadian military hack Tarek Fatah like a long lost brother just days after he quite rightly hammered John McCallum and Ujjal Dosanjh for their anti Canadian military views.
Ezra does not even have the guts to answer the question himself. Instead he has his producer try and use double and triple speak to justify his kid gloves treatment of Fatah.

"Give this lady an Order of Australia medal"
The death spiral of PM Julia Gillard and the Labor Party in Australia continues, and it has been pretty much a sealed fate thanks to one nameless woman in gift shop where Gillard got cornered, and this lady stood up to not only Gillard, but a member of Parliament. According to Andrew Bolt at the Herald Sun, this video has been been getting wide circulation on TV networks, or as he says “…every TV bulletin ran this”.
Watch this lady take down the whole Gillard carbon tax scheme in just a few minutes. I love the way she shuts down the assistant Graeme Perrett, Member of Parliament. Video follows:"
"And it gets worse. Bolt writes on his blog:
The public has spoken and it’s over
Julia Gillard kept her cool admirably at the people’s forum in Brisbane last night, yet the whole thing was a disaster for her. No Labor MP watching could conclude that the party has a hope under a woman so distrusted."

"Uprising in Belarus"
"Internet Generation Takes on Europe's Last Dictator"
"The end of Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko's era appears to be approaching, as thousands take to the streets in Minsk to protest against the country's economic crisis. The Internet-savvy demonstrators are finding ever-more-creative ways to voice dissent, but Lukashenko is responding with violence."
"Three women are sitting on a bench next to a currency exchange in a large department store in Minsk, the capital of Belarus. They are doing crossword puzzles, hoping that dollars or euros will eventually become available again.
"We have a waiting list here," says one of the women. "There are 310 people on it, and they all want to exchange their rubles. I signed up in April. Now it's July and it should be my turn. But I've been sitting here for days, and no one is showing up to sell dollars."
Belarus devalued its currency by 36 percent in May. On the black market, where the ruble hasn't been worth much for a long time, one euro costs 9,000 rubles -- more than twice as much as at the beginning of the year. People are seeking refuge in hard currency -- if they can get it, that is.
A dramatic crisis has gripped the bizarre realm of dictator Alexander Lukashenko. Exports have tumbled, the foreign debt has skyrocketed and prices are exploding. As of last week, gasoline is now in short supply at filling stations.
The women sitting next to the currency exchange in the Minsk department store seem to confirm all of the common prejudices about Belarus's roughly 9 million people, namely that they are placid, even when sorely tested by fate, passive, subservient to authority and completely apolitical.
But this image isn't quite true anymore."

"The Chinese art of elegant bribery"
"There is more than aesthetics and investment in today's demand for Chinese art. Art has become an “invisible cloak” that helps businessmen navigate Chinese corruption"
"Apart from appreciation and investment, it might be an alien concept for laymen outside the Chinese system that one of the most essential functions of art works is corruption. The concept of “elegant bribery”, or Yahui in Chinese, refers to the action and process of a systematic corruption that only involves cultural products and artefacts: antiques, rare plants, paintings and calligraphy as a medium of the crime. Art works, in particular, have become no more than tools of corruptions among officials, merchants, art dealers and sometimes even artists.
The history of elegant bribery can be traced back to ancient Chinese dynasties, and arguably, it has been an intractable problem since the Ming dynasty (1368-1644)."

San Fran Bleeding-Heart Libs Consider Making Ex-Cons A “Protected Class”…
Pretty much anything other than heterosexual white people are part of the “protected class” in San Francisco.
(SF Gate) — Ex-convicts may soon become a “protected class” in San Francisco — joining African Americans, Latinos, gays, transgender people, pregnant women and the disabled.
A proposal being circulated at City Hall would make it illegal for landlords and employers to discriminate against applicants solely because they were “previously incarcerated.”
Sex offenders and perpetrators of some violent crimes would not be covered.
It would also be illegal to ask anyone about their criminal past on an initial job or housing application.

Actually the San Fransisco plan should be celebrated. Maybe Toronto will follow suit. Imagine a haven for ex-cons. It's a perfect solution really. Send them all to some hell hole like San Fran or Toronto so we don't have to deal with them.

They are apparently having trouble with having the ex-cons swear on their mother graves to be good,or to go with the old standby of "cross my heart and hope to die".
I can't see much of a difference, but the ex-cons must have their hands out front ,none of this "fingers crossed behind my back" crap that they pull on us so often.

US airstrike kills 6 Islamic militants in Yemen
By AHMED AL-HAJ, Associated Press – 3 hours ago
SANAA, Yemen (AP) — A U.S. airstrike on a Yemeni police station overrun by Islamic militants killed at least six fighters Thursday, a Yemeni security official said.
The strike targeted a region where radical groups believed to have al-Qaida links have exploited the country's political upheaval to take over entire towns.
