Justthinkin I think if their parents bring them to the US. There is a BIG problem with illegal Mexicans -- but many in the US depend on their labour. Plus, (shockingly) money sent to Mexico by family members working in the US (legally or illegally) is a major economic driver in Mexico. I am not opposed to efforts to make the system more responsive to the reality. Better that then all the youth joining up with the cartels.

And how many student loans will be repaid by these "undocumented college students"? Honestly, if it were me, I'd apply for the money then 'disappear' with the funds. Why would I go to school, I'll just re-apply for funds next year using a different "undocumented college student" name.

There was a city council last week (Irvine?)that wanted the south to separate from the rest of CA. Not a bad idea really, sort of like Western Canada separating from its welfare dependent eastern half.

Jerry Brown-out helped put California on the road to bankruptcy during his first term so it is poetic justice that under his watch the State will slide into fiscal oblivion and become another Mexican ghetto. The wealthy Coastal leftists will eventually have to leave (everything behind) as they won't be able to live in what they have created. Meanwhile, after the State's paychecks start bouncing, Hollywood will be able to continuously film Mad Max sequels without having to pay greedy actors or go on location.

These illegals would then be grateful to America for educating them, no doubt, in the spirit of Comrade President Obama, excuse me, I have to refuel on lithium. Wheeeee.

Let's be very clear on this. Those members of California's state legislature who voted for this, and California's governor, think that American citizens who live in other states should pay more to attend UCLA than illegal aliens who live in California. That actually makes sense to them.

If our political leaders were lower or solidly middle class, I think we'd see some fiscal responsibility. When the rich guys are in leadership positions, como siempre, their white guilt gets the better of them and they start signing away the future of their jurisdiction, because, frankly, it's not going to affect them or their families. They're always going to have their bank accounts full-up, multiple mortgages (house, cottage, ski getaway) paid off, and lots of resources to fall back on when they've completely bankrupted their state/province. In fact, during a recession or depression, with their liquid assets, they can buy up others' assets that are being sold off to try to pay off the debts, mortgage, whatever.

Rich guys at the political helm are a disaster -- and that seems to be all we've got (excepting PM Stephen Harper, who's not a millionaire and who seems to have an understanding of what "the ordinary Canadian" is facing.)

Gotta love that phrase "undocumented". It sounds so much nicer than "illegal". Heck, it even sounds as if it is somehow somebody else's fault for deliberately leaving you out of the documentation process. And if your parents brought you over when you were in diapers and managed to stay (illegally) in the country long enough for you to come of age...they win the game. Because laws don't matter if you can find a way to claim "it wasn't your fault".
