Not Watching For The Asteroid

Bernstein is an awkward choice for critic of phone hacking, because of the memorable moment in the Watergate investigation when, stymied in his investigation of the suspicious burglary, he turns to a source at the phone company to obtain what were supposed to be private telephone records.

Watching the left pile onto this is amusing, got news for them though -Nobody REALLY cares.

Not sure how Bernstein being hypocritical changes what we should think about the blatantly illegal behaviour of Murdoch's company today. It would be inspiring if a fellow conservative or two could pause long enough to condemn such behaviour before wandering back down memory lane to dredge up moral equivalency arguments.

In the here and now, an all party parliamentary committee looking into News Corp emails has found evidence of News Corp bribery of the police and clear efforts at impeding and obstructing a police investigation.

Let's see now. Adding it all up, so far we have roughly 4000 counts of illegal phone hacking in addition to bribery of police and obstruction of justice. Nothing to see here folks. Move along now.

In the word of Kathy Shaidle: "Oh, but that's different!"

Bernstein was raised by parents who were both Communists, which may explain his " the only rule is no rules " approach as he pursued fame/fortune/Richard Nixon.

Hypocrisy is all over this 'Big News Story'....

It's only NEWS if they tell you it is.

bob c, I do, but small c conservative and Philanthropist give the story some balance.
