Thanks, fixed now.

Thanks Kate. Great little video. I re-posted to Facebook.

It's all so ... unexpected.

At least, according to the reports this morning.

Obama will be remembered as the absolutely worst President in the history of the USA. This is what happens when you get hornswaggled by the left into believing that Diversity and promotion of those who have not earned their degrees and diplomas by their own effort, but were just promoted up the ladder because of their skin colour. Socialism hasn't worked anywhere in the world. Or its twin brother Communism. They used to have Hoovervilles in the US in the 30's Depression. They now have Obamavilles. Get ready for the storm....

I think even John McCain could defeat Obama at this point. Is there anyone out there that still believes Keynesian stimulus programs work? I mean other than liberals. They're still saying the stimulus didn't work because it was too small.

What we need is Ronald Reagan.

Obama is accomplishing what he wanted to do. Not what he said he'd do, but what he was supposed to do.

18,000 new jobs.

Wow.

Wonder how many good people were forced to join unions last month, how many companies got screwed over by Obama's NLRB, how much investment was delayed because companies can't determine their future financial liabilities under Obamacare.

Just wondering.

Obama, destroying the American economy one policy, one decision, one screw-up after another.

Somewhere, Jimmy Carter is smiling because being #2 in this case is better than being #1.

Governments cannot create jobs. Period. Full stop. What governmnets can do is create an environment that is stable and predictable along with competitive tax levies and a reasonable regulatory perspective. This will encourage the private sector to initiate wealth building and create employment. The Obama presidency and the Democratic congress fundamentally do not understand or agree with this perspective. So as Dr. Phil says, "HOW'S THAT WORKIN' OUT FOR YOU?"

I have said it before and I will say it again ... WORST PRESIDENT EVAH!

Maybe Barry should call Steve to learn how it is done . . .

"Canada's labour market shrugged off the soft patch in the global recovery during June, as employers added 28,000 workers and the unemployment rate stayed at 7.4 per cent only because more people were confident enough to search for work. "

Yup. Even adding Libya to the "active wars" list won't work. It wasn't WW2 that "fixed" the US economy, it was that WW2 diverted Roosevelt's attention away from "fixing" the economy and he (more or less) left it alone. Yes, the extra sales to the warring nations helped, but if central planning and a guaranteed market were all that were needed, why did Stalin's 5 year plans fail?

One of the consequences of this dismal report is the impact on Canada; the loonie, and our exports. This is getting past serious!

Approximately 45% of the jobs created in the US since June 2009 have been created in Texas. Maybe if Obama wasn't so busy with golfing and fund-raisers, he could find the time to call someone, anyone, in Texas and ask them how they were doing it.

Obama once famously asked to be judged based on the people he surrounded himself with. Then he started appointing czars, all of whom are unionists, communists, and socialists, but I repeat myself. When the entire administration is staffed by '70s Maoist and soviet apologists, only an idiot journalist could possibly use the term 'unexpectedly'. But as Kate is wont to say, "Glenn Beck is the crazy one".

Don't be surprised if voters put Obama in office for a second term. Like lambs to the slaughter they will go, handing Obama free reign to completely finish off the country.

Romney will likely be the Republican candidate, and while not perfect, he is 10x better than Obama but will not get elected.

This is what happens when cult worship is the deciding factor in an election.

Texas has oil and cattle.

Could be the reasons.

I would be surprised if Obama gets in a second time.

We'll see in 16 months.

don't forget as the u.s. economy goes so goes canada

It was only a few months ago (May? April? I'm too lazy to look it up) that the entire 50,000 increase in US jobs was due to one corporation.

McDonald's, so vilified by Morgan Spurlock (hey Morgan.. did you try eating at Pizza Hut for a month? wanna guess what your numbers would have been?), and the People's Republik of Kalifornia for "Happy Meals", created 50,000 new positions, which accounted for all new jobs in the US. The irony here has more layers than a mille-feuille.

Can someone please tell me why the Republicans can't find someone who's sane, intelligent, knowledgeable, and articulate to represent them? If not for an accident of birth, I'd be happy to loan them Stephen Harper for a few years.

Mitt: anyone who believes that someone dug up special stones and scrolls in the American Mid-west during the 19th century because of God - sorry, buddy, you lost me at "South Park".

Sarah: Tough, determined, and if Todd left her, I'd be by her side in an instant, but really friends: you think she has the brains?!

Michelle: Photogenic, good sound bites, but when the questions get tough, she makes Iggy sound clear and concise.

I could go on, but I won't. It worries me that the most powerful nation in the world can't put up leadership candidates in either party that couldn't, IMHO, win a debate with not only PMSH, but Taliban Jack, or Boob Ray. (I don't agree with either of the latter two's views, but if you asked to me to bet on who would win a debate between say, Boob or Mitt, or Jack and Hillary, my money would go on the Canadian every time.)

The decline is sad to watch.

There was some good news in the report.

"- Government employment shrunk by 39,000"

It must be Friday. Time for a dump.

set you free said: "Texas has oil and cattle. Could be the reasons."

I disagree. A state/province/country could be the leading producer of geese that lay golden eggs, and the economy will still stink if it is overburdened with high taxes and government regulation.

Texas is in such great shape because they actively support and encourage the wealth-creaters in the state and curb government (the Texas legislature only meets every two years). Companies from California are moving to Texas in droves to escape the mess liberals have made of the once rich and productive "Golden State."

It's almost like if you pair a less intrusive govenment with a pro-business environment the economy will ... ummm what's the word ... GROW!

Somebody should clue Obama in on the secret.

@ rindlrad, Obama doesn't care as he has a mandate from George to turn the US into a socialist state.

Some days I feel like we have lost our Nation to an invading army of muchers.

Shortly before Obambam was elected I met an American just a few years shy of retiring. He was all excited that soon the USA would elect Obambam. Being a Canadian gentleman I did not question his choice. A few weeks ago I phoned my acquaintance to see how he was doing. His UI was getting close to running out. He didn't say if he was going to vote for Obambam again.

Demographics are destiny.

Like our immigration policy here, the United States is expanding it's population base to swamp the taxpayers by the recipients.

It's not a zero sum game. Someone who contributes a million to the GDP, gets the same 1 vote, as one who siphons off 20,000 or more from it.

A good portion of the numbers are people leaving California because their business is leaving California. More demand for services...

no one seems to note that in that same month we gave green cards or Employment Authorization Documents to at least 100,000 foreigners.

What idiocy. Immigration does NOT cause unemployment, indeed the cheap labor is propping up the economy. The situation is bad enough with a xenophobic immigration policy mucking up the labor market. Obama has cracked down on 'illegals' even worse than his predecessor.

TJ, it's not likely. The US has NEVER re-elected a President with unemployment numbers like these. And the chance of anything good happening in this area over the next year is close to zero. Consumer spending is low and will drop further given the decline in wage growth, which means there's no consumer driven recovery like in all previous recession recoveries.

This is going to last a generation. Get used to it, folks. Our big neighbour to the south has economic cancer.
