| Canadian Free Press - This is indeed a book that suits the times with the approaching American presidential election of 2012 in which a large segment of the public may be expected to follow the same trajectory of political thinking by rejecting the ‘glamour appeals’ of the Left with its penchant for identifying itself with so called ‘progressive’ policies. |
The Left is Seldom Right, By Norman Berdichevsky. |

I had a faintly surreal conversation with two Hollywood liberal pals not so long ago: One moment they were bemoaning all those right-wing racists like Pat Buchanan who’d made such a big deal about the crowd cheering for the Mexican team and booing the Americans at a U.S.–Mexico soccer match in Pasadena, and deploring the way the U.S. goalie had complained that the post-match ceremony was conducted entirely in Spanish. Ten minutes later they were sighing that nothing in Los Angeles seemed to work quite as well as it did when they first came out west over 40 years ago.....Mark Steyn
Not only is the left seldom right about anything they are also seldom honest or transparent about their many hidden agendas - which always boil down to - forced austerity, population micro management, population reduction, erecting a political kleptocracy which regulates and rations all property, land, resources and life sustaining commodities and generally treats people like tax slaves and cattle.
The march of modern "progressivism" is carried on the jack boots of the police state.
Recall how many media and academic "progressives" in the 30s called German national socialism "advanced" - same as they did Russian Bolshevism and Cuban despotism.
Occam, you sum up the agenda of the left well. Not too much can be added to that except the insidious way that much of that agenda has been implemented through the educational system in the western world and fostered by the media.
This book should be a great addition to the list of books that exposes the evilness of the left.
We should not fall into the trap of using the word "progressive" when referring to left wing idealogy. This is just another example - in a long list - of the left highjacking language to their ends.
To the average person, the word "progressive" has a positive meaning and feel to it. In general day-to-day conversation, many people when they think of the word "progress" might substitute the word "improvement". But leftist ideology is far more often than not, anything BUT an improvement.
And the left counts on that. It is simply another in a long line of subtle brainwashing and propaganda that the left has always engaged in.
As the old saying goes, "All progress implacably requires change but not all change is progress".
Don't use the word "progressive" to describe them. Use the words "radical left wing". It is infinitely more accurate.
Joey
Yeah....."progressive" is now as meaningless as "racist" OR the many forms of the "F-WORD"......same crowd..same reason...
I just call them BOLSHEVIKS......PERVERTS......
"The Left is Seldom Right is a book that lives up to the claim that we should be much more aware and concerned with the right and the wrong of political issues rather than the Right and Left terminology we so frequently lean on as a crutch."
I can't wait to buy this book. Far too many people I meet or blog with will never look at the "right or wrong" of a particular action, but only if it's been done by THEIR political favourites or the NASTY OPPOSITION.
I've argued with my Liberal sibling to the point of exhaustion, but never will she admit that a Liberal policy was wrong or bad for the Country. Maybe I'll send her a copy.
I prefer to call this neo-feudalism where everything is owned by the "progressive elite" and scraps are disbursed on a whim.
or to be more succinct:
progressive = neo-fuedalism
Too many people have bought into the progressive label as being something that is good. The take it on the authority of people like Noam Chomsky that are nothing more than individuals with a chip on their shoulder, have had enough education to be able to express themselves in ambiguous articles and have a big ego supported by a big mouth. But if you strip away the creative writing there is no substance. I bet if you kicked the shit out of Michael Moore al that would be left is a 4 foot tall 90 pound runt. It is nice to see books that expose this shit.
Joey,
Been saying that for years now! I've been referring to them as the 'Regressive Left' for some time now. That's even more accurate since many useful idiots aren't actually radical left-wingers.
@Dennis K:
Noam Chomsky is a preacher to those looking to confirm their hatred of the West and America. In other words, he is a "respectable" (read: authoritative) brand selling a product to a consumer who needs their anti-capitalist beliefs warranted. That is why he is so prolific with his writings and so consistently vehement -- he uses the society that he despises to make millions off of the self-loathing. He's a lot like that parasite found in cat feces that infects mouse brains and compels the mice to get eaten by cats so the parasite can continue to propagate.
It is really pathetic if you think about it. The need to have your beliefs approved by a higher authority, that is.
Off to the library. A with most Conservative books I will probably have to wait till the one copy in canada is reserved.
Any Library user will know what I,m talking about.
