Ah, SDAland, where the opposite of perceived "propaganda" isn't, say, an objective and balanced attempt at truth-seeking, but rather, "more propaganda"!
Free-thinking SDAers will no doubt demonstrate their independent-mindedness by following Kate's lead and ordering the book straight away.
Or SDAland, where I acknowledge the authors who are kind enough to send me their books with a little free publicity. If the lefties are too cheap to follow suit, it's not my problem.
I found "Benefits of Socialism" to be thoroughly engrossing. The author has clearly done his homework and the exhaustive research shines out of every single page. Two thumbs up. I recommend it for anyone curious about the social impact socialist theory has had on the Western world in the 20th century.
If you want a very good book on why Socialism cannot work, read "Socialism" by Ludwig von Mises. It was written in 1922 and very clearly and deliberately shows why government controls on the economy are doomed to fail.
Why this blog? Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice
of an ordinary Canadian
yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."
homepage email Kate (goes to a private
mailserver in Europe)
I can't answer or use every
tip, but all are
appreciated!

Oh, is this the conservative version of Oprah's book club? If it gets Kate's approval, will international sales be affected?

"In the mail" -- because who needs to actually read the book first before giving it "a little free publicity," eh?
The title just said that it was "In the Mail." Kate didn't say it was a great book, just that it was "In the Mail."
Here's one I've read cover to cover and can recommend - Benefits of Socialism. Google it.
"Free-thinking SDAers will no doubt demonstrate their independent-mindedness by following Kate's lead and ordering the book straight away."
They might, however I personally wait until noted leftards start going into conniptions of ad-hominemy rage so that I know it's been properly vetted.

Davenport, obviously you didn't even read the review in the link, let alone the book.
I knew a chap from Davenport,
Where things are small and very short,
He seemed like such a grumpy sort,
This little man from Davenport.
Its a good idea this book.
You could always start your own objective, balanced blog, Davenport. Who knows, Kate might even link you.
or one could go to project gutenberg
download Parkman's history of the early US. they used to be a standard reference before they were dropped as being politically incorrect
also from gutenberg The winning of the west in 4 volumes by teddy Roosevelt
yup that Teddy
