They should have poured concrete over the entire area first. That will prevent weed growth and after the solar fad dies out you'll be left with a nice parking lot which will attract land developers. That's the trouble with green people, they don't think outside their blocks.
So instead of 20 years of life to generate the amouunt of electricity from a chinese coal plant that was used to produce the silicon in these panels - 70 years? Oh well, as noted in a previous post - chinese coal plants have cooled the planet anyway.
"weed-covered solar facility in former communist (and now “green”) East Germany," This reminds me of the large factory that the Soviets built in the Ural foothills near where my family lived at one time. After it was built it was left to sit there derelict, as no one thought as to how it was to be powered. This is just typical socialist economics. This also like the thousands of derelict wind turbines in California which have been featured here in the past.
Hey this is unfair. You use a weedeater & it puts oil & gas in the Atmosphere. They are just naturalizing the solar field & stopping Global warming.
Ive lived to see to many White Elephants.
The farmers in the fields next to these will have to up their weed kill because of the seeds that will blow from the solar fields. Between the loss of efficiency because of the shade and the extra cost to the neighbors for weed control those panels should end up with a neutral carbon footprint after about 287 years. I used climatology mathematics to come up with that number so it may be a bit on the low side.
Why this blog? Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice
of an ordinary Canadian
yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

I can't answer or use every
tip, but all are
appreciated!

you send someone TRAFFIC.

Looks like a very dry field with moisture preserved under those nice little canopies.
Either that, or there already was an aerial application of Roundup. Which of course would be
better from the carbon release activist perspective.
Stop global cooling! Free the Carbon!

How can everyone miss this? This is a greenie's dream. The solar panels produce carbon-free electricity AND the plants capture CO2 from the air!
It's a two-fer!!
I've seen similar pictures of solar farms in southern Ontario where the panels are under two feet of snow.
brilliant . . . grow food, generate electricity.
Must be a dulton model.
Just marvelous. And the installation is less than two years old.
But where are the sheep?
The greenie verbal spewage spouted is that sheep will graze under the panels for weed control.
More bs.
Thank You..
I had almost forgotten all the moss and slime growth collecting underneath the two solar panels on my roof.
Probably enough wet warm bacteria to start a new roof disease.

anyway...
Several years ago we switched to a Natural Gas water heater-
NG cost abt $30 a month-
The spouse got tired of taking cold baths on rainy days.
Cold showers don't bother me,
but you know how women are..
Back later...
I need to check the net and find a mixture I can just squirt on and wash off.
Yeah, but wouldn't ceramic make cheaper weed pots??
And, remember, NO PESTICIDES!
ROFL.
Solar is "free", no maintenance required....right?
No doubt some fine civil servants on maintanance
Crews
even funnier?
Even modest partial shade on most solar panels drops their (already modest) conversion efficiency dramatically: 70% IIRC.
Those little sprigs are saboteurs of the first order.
Hahahahahaha

How's the prices of what ever used to grow in that field?
Suck - errrs!
Oh look! They're growing organic weeds with those solar panels.
cal2 No doubt some fine civil servants on maintanance

Insert Union between fine and civil.
Hey look at that , now that is green technolgy!!!
Actually, that's another Ottawa sculpture entitled "After Climate Changed" on display at the National Museum of Lost Taxes.
We can just plow them under, and start a new crop, right?

You'll never see that kind of cover allowed to shade a climate station.
those poor panels look like they need some shade anyway, sittin out there in the hot sun all day.
