You missed a spot.
Here is the world’s most powerful intergovernmental institution essentially arguing for the destruction of the global economy, enforced rationing, Marxist wealth redistribution, greater regulation, the erosion of property rights and global governance by a new world order of technocrats and bureacrats. And being so upfront about it they actually issue press releases, telling us what they’re planning to do and encouraging us to write about it.

Another humoristic post I guess?
This time Kate wishes for another 9/11 attack.
Are Iranian mullahs allowed to be funny too?
The really sad thing is that I don't really believe that any of the current party leaders would oppose this in practice. They might talk about "preserving Canada's sovereignty" so that the little people don't get upset, but day by day, month by month, year by year, decisions are being made more and by by the UN (and the EU in Europe) that are the right and proper domain only of the citizenry of the nation in question.
Harper comforts me not a bit on this issue.
First the Nazis and the Communists tried and now the UN is trying to control the citizens of the world with their Marxist totalitarianism evil.
h/t to loki is right. Beats checking out tonsils or at least more interesting.
I think what we are seeing here is a phenomenon found in 'intellectual analysis' throughout history, where a particular group removes itself more and more from actual reality and moves into pure abstract debate within: words.
The scholastic arguments (Aquinas) about angels (which admittedly bear some resemblance to debate about quantum physics); the postmodernist focus on reality as defined only by a subjective perspective...it's all words..and a rejection of factual material reality.
The UN is similar; it has removed itself more and more from reality. It exists solely in its talk, endless talk.
It exists in isolation from the real world of cause and effect; its actions in the world have no function, no rational cause, no constructive effect.
It produces nothing; it exists solely as a parasite on the world's nations. It babbles endlessly, announces numerous bills and mandates which no-one pays any attention to.
It ought to be disbanded; the building torn down; the funds allocated to its massive bloated bureaucracy spent on those who actually have needs and global governance left in the hands of each nation's ELECTED governments.
Just the UN, NDPiste. Nor would I consider an attack on UN Headquarters by Islamists to be terrorism. They're allies, after all.
The more that I read about the antics of the UN the more convinced I am that we should get out of the cesspool. Canada is already a member of a law abiding democratic organization called the Commonwealth of Nations. We should work to enhance that organization.
Here's another. Sounds far-fetched but I don't think anything is too far-fetched for these ever-spawning UN organizations:
"But now the Nobel-winning panel (IPCC) is taking a closer look (at geo-engineering proposals), a telling sign, for some, that the effort to tackle global warming through politics is taking too long and bearing too little fruit.
Delegates ended another 12-day talkfest in Bonn on Friday under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)....

Face it, the US economy is going to crash, the power base will change to China and Russia, and the EU will resurrect as a 10 party nation.
Why does this type of retort seem surprising. No God, no resistance to it.
So roll over and sleep North America.
Global governance has been on the agenda for a number of years -- it is no longer a "conspiracy theory" relegated to wackos or the "Jack Van Impe" apocalypse crew for example.
Evidence: anyone studying political/social sciences in University over the last decade is aware that global governance is status quo in academic circles, and it is exclusively Marxian and Left in orientation (they're definitely not talking about establishing "global capitalism" as a system of world government). You don't believe it? -- well then read one of your kid's University research papers if he/she happens to be studying Poli-Sci.
The thing that bugs me about it is the Marxist Left lied about it for so long and they pretended to be against "Globalism" -- remember all the protests in the '90's & '00's? One thing I've learned about the Marxist dialetical process: it always pretends to oppose its intended goals and real actions. Deception is the name of the game.
When they say "anti-racism" they intend racism. When they say "anti-apartheid" they intend apartheid. When they say "anti-Islamophobia" they intend Islamophobia. When they say "anti-homophobia" they intend homophobia. When they say "pro-democracy" they intend tyranny. When they say "anti-Globalism" they intend Globalism.
I'm not against global government per se, if the Marxists want to take over Mars and move all the leftists and Islamists there, fine with me.
“Hence, if, for instance, emission reduction targets cannot be met through accelerated technological progress in energy efficiency and renewable energy generation, it may be necessary to impose caps on energy consumption itself in order to meet climate change mitigation in a timely manner. Proposals to put limits on economic growth can be viewed in this context.” (P.19)
Interesting! Imagine for a moment 4 million families cooking over a wood stove in New York City, 1 million in Vancouver or 2 million in Toronto. This would not be part of the plan. I suspect that part of the plan would be a process that would achieve something similar to what a prominent financial columnist in the Financial Post wrote last fall, that there were 6 billion too many people on earth. Stalin knew how to bend the people to his will in order to impose collectivization and these people have the same mindset. A starving person can not fight.
I think the globalist Marxist are going to have to do a lot more killing that they think aaaaaand a lot more of them will be be killed in the process ... than they think,
And that is exactly what people like Mo Strong, Al Gore, David Suzuki, the Bilderburgers, Prince Charles and Obama truly are hoping for.
The solution to all THEIR problems are the riddance of a few billion pesky humanoids.
There will be no unemployment or entitlement issues in a feudal world.
@ ricardo, don't forget to a Marxist truth is whatever advances the cause. Lenin lived by this axiom and he and his successors perfected it. The Poli-Sci papers you mention give evidence ot the infiltration of the Marxists into our school system in 1950s and 60s.
'A starving person can not fight.' Right you are Ken (Kulak). Why does anyone, in their right mind, think that burning food for fuel is a good idea? We have plenty of oil, coal and natural gas to burn for fuel; both are put here by the Good Lord for His people to use for fuel. People in North America have allowed themselves into the danger zone of being dependant on gument for the basics for life: food, water and shelter - and by adding leisure time, as a basic for Civilization -if the gument sez "Jump" and the peon sez 'I'm reading, right now', then the gument cuts off the economic supply to said peon's basic needs and peon jumps every time! Lenin studied the work of Pavlov and the latter's dogs.
This is a very important article (thanks Loki and Kate), it should be read and digested as a necessity for maintaining our civilization. Also, Mr. Moncton's tapes (here at SDA) are information that we, the people need to have so that we can nip the slavers plans in the buds.
Abe Foreman - great follow up to what Ken (Kulak) said prior to your comment. The useful idiots..the fools...what Iggie's mom called her 5 sons...young fools. Iggie's mom was an aristocrat from Imperial Russia.
They are not commies. Not even commies would look to be doing something like this. These people are simply raving lunatic bonkers!
As a former supervisor of mine used to say to dumb ideas, "That's your plan, eh. Go ahead then and give it a try". Perhaps the UN should start with a few countries, maybe 1 or 2, to show us how wonderful and painless the de-carbonization process is. A couple of logical test cases are the UK and Australia :
-their differing economies will show the effects on two types of industrialized countries (Oz is rich and exports resources, the UK is broke and produces ???)
- both have governments that are gung-ho about going green
-islands prevent anyone from escaping, making it a closed experiment
-their populations have been disarmed, preventing any of those pesky mass revolt thingies that might skew the results.
I realize that, if successful, the UK and Oz's thriving green, sustainable economies will have a head start on the rest of us eco-laggards but I'm willing to take that risk. If the experiment goes badly, well, they can always tap into the UN's other lucrative scam, I mean essential program....the foreign aid racket.
BTW, I wish I could have suggested non-Anglo countries but the guilty, predominantly white English-speaking world seems the most susceptible to actually implementing these insane ideas. Why else would they continue to fund an organization that is directly opposed all of the ideals of western civilization.
Great catch Kate.
One of the objectives of the Left (and by that I mean especially the Obama administration) is to transfer more power to the UN and other transnational organizations. The adventure in Libya is exhibit "A," a NATO effort where the US military was essentially "lent" to that organization for the purpose of aiding a revolution in that country.
But these international organizations are essentially run by an assembly of kleptocrats whose primary objective is to translate their power over their dirt-poor countries into power over the entire world. This press release by the UN is an excellent example.
Don't worry, LC, Aus is about to feel the green pain train under a carbon tax. Gillard will burn in the next election.
I agree with Kate; alQaeda attacking the UN is just mutiny.
"erosion of property rights".
uhuh. kinda like the dubya era SCOTUS 'eminent domain' decision
Has anyone ever seen an accounting of what Canadians have paid in the Billions maybe Trillions in the Sh*thole called the UN? Probably enough to cure AIDS and Cancer in the 3rd World alone.... Shut it down and make it into a homeless shelter.
Rudy once said, "The UN should move. We need the space."
uhuh. kinda like the dubya era SCOTUS 'eminent domain' decision where the SCOTUS majority on that decision were mainly Democrat appointed Leftist judges and minority opinion for preserving private property came from the conservative Republican judges.
FIFY
Kelo v. New London (2005)-Supreme Court Eminent Domain Case
The Majority Ruling:
The Court's opinion, written by Justice John Paul Stevens and joined by justices Stephen Breyer, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Anthony Kennedy, and David Souter, holds that a city may claim private property under the Fifth Amendment so long as it does so as part of a clear economic development plan intended to benefit the community as a whole.
O'Connor's Dissent:
In a scathing dissent, Justice Sandra Day O'Connor (joined by Chief Justice Rehnquist and justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas) condemned the ruling as a fundamental attack on property rights. "To reason," she wrote, "that ... incidental public benefits ... render economic development takings 'for public use' is to wash out any distinction between private and public use of property--and thereby effectively to delete the words 'for public use' from ... the Fifth Amendment."
......................................
That the ruling against private property rights occured when "W" was POTUS is irrelevant sophistry.
That's the beauty of the UN's plan, Mark. Once you liberate yourself from the tyranny of representative democracy you no longer have to pretend to care about your citizens whining and moaning. Of course you let them vote but all the really important decisions are entrusted to a supranational body. Those appointed officials never have to bother with petty annoyances like accountability and re-election.
Granted the UK is a bit further along than Australia but I am sure Gillard's coalition government can catch up. Maybe the next UN IPCC/Climate change meeting will convince Oz to sign a binding agreement?
I remember reading how broke the UN is. How they had water leaks they couldn't afford to repair. apparently they checked the cushions.

If I just read this blog for the headlines I would be entertained enough.
Despite all of the evidence that has piled up to the contrary, and the blindingly obvious end game, major "conservative" journalists continue to promote AGW as real(thereby validating this socialist economic nightmare).
A recent response from one:
Dear XXXX
Just when are you going to get off the fence and call AGW for the complete and utter fraud that it is instead of continuing to nibble around the edges? Why is it that we are required to prove negatives when it comes to Liberal/leftist schemes and policy planks?
Hi Ward:
Never, I expect, because I don't believe the basic science behind AGW is a hoax.
What I'm sure of with 100% certainty is that the proposed solutions to the "problem" aren't going to work.
I'm thinking Barry is already eye-balling his next job as Global Emperor Barack 1st, I mean head of the UN.
He's starting to figure out he can't achieve his aim of destroying the US economy and getting re-elected.
It's time to get out of the UN and form an 'Association of English Speaking Democracies'.
Canada, USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Belize, Jamaica, Bahamas, and various carribean islands as primary members; consider observer status for India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, maybe a few others.
The problem is that some of the peasants are too prosperous? Think we have heard that song before.
The rec pharma consumption by those aboard that ship of fools, the SS UNO, must be enormous.
An attack on UN Headquarters by Islamists is not terrorism its treason.
If only they'd flown one plane into UN headquarters and the other into the NY Times.
Of course, the problem with that fantasy is that... well, Joe (above) said it better.
And yeah, I still can't believe Kelo really happened.
Perhaps it's time we cancelled our membership in this antiquated, statist and irrelevant institution.
Pronto.
Oh, and quebecois NDPist? Clearly you're still Stuck on Stupid.

Ken (Kulak)
Yep! Especially that civilian disarmament bit that is almost foundational with these lefties whether in the UN or the current US executive branch. Civilian disarmament is a critical part of their agenda....without it they know they are doomed.
"To enhance safety, control crime and redered the population more GOVERNABLE,,"......direct quote from the UN firearms treaty......
A while back the OBOZO crowd consulted the US military if it would assist in the disarmament process.....they didn't get the answer no....it was HELL NO.
This is predictable and probably why there is always so much election fraud....disenfrachizing the military by delaying shipping ballots to oversees military. ACORN is minimal compared to that.
The thing about turning the clock back five centuries is that Islam only has to go 900 years to catch up.
And other tidbit about Kelo v. New London, Pfizer Inc.'s closed its research and development headquarters in New London, Connecticut. The land that the city seized remains vacant. Also 43 states passed laws that essentially overturn the Supreme Court decision.
Perhaps the UN intervention in Haiti after the earthquake in 2010
was a test run. The earthquake is history, but the cholera which
the UN brought while "helping" is a deadly gift which keeps on
giving:

Kate/Canada-
Please don't invite Bill Clinton for any state dinners.
We've been saying all along that they want to destroy the western capitalist society and the "green" agenda is just a means to that end.
Now they're saying it themselves.
Why haven't we heard from Alex on this???
Or is Alex now known as quebecois NDPiste?
Quote (from loki's post in Reader Tips): "Among other things, [the U. N. report] suggests that no-one should make more than $10,000/year, that CO2 emissions be limited to 3 tons/person/year (requiring a 75% cut in power use by N. Americans), that apartment living is the only way to go and that the private sector can't work nearly fast enough and that massive government intervention is needed to change the way people think or we're all going to fry."
I'll bet the parasites who wrote this report make more than $10,000 per year.
"the private sector can't work nearly fast enough"? Hah! Government usually moves with the speed of a three-toed sloth wearing a body cast, plus it goes in the wrong direction 80% of the time.
"Kate said she prayed for an earthquake to come and demolish California, killing millions of people!"
AND I grow bonsai kittens for fun and profit.
ET @ 3:47 p.m.: "the postmodernist focus on reality as defined only by a subjective perspective...it's all words..and a rejection of factual material reality."
Because Immanuel Kant divorced reason from reality. Everything bad in academia and in philosophy in particular that has happened since then basically stems from Kant.
My guess is, for what it's worth-when the global economy completely crashes, in the not to distant future, a leader will take the helm of the UN and govern the world's population using UN policies. Who that leader is/will be is anybody's guess. I don't see China, Russia, North Korea and Iran submitting without a fight though.
Because Immanuel Kant was a real pissant, who was very, rarely stable....(channelling the Bruces from the Hollywood Bowl)
And more from the UN. AGW is to blame for the food situation in Ethiopia. As far as I can remember, these countries were always drought striken and used aid $$ for guns and tanks etc.
Time to end the aid fiasco to the UN.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/ethiopia/8628735/Climate-change-is-cause-of-Ethiopian-drought.html
I say that its always nice when the Lefties stop their incessant lying for just a second and say what they really want. Total control over the lives of every soul on Earth.
But -Kate- is the bad person. Because she made a joke.
And the trolls wonder why we mock them.
The UN is an Islamist boys club.
It stopped being relevent to realiy years ago. Now its just a cancor sore in the mouth of real democracy.
"As the report primly tells us, none of us actually needs to earn more than $10,000 a year. Anything more is greedy..."
So we should cap salaries and benefits of politicians and bureaucrats in multinational organizations like the UN or IMF, and national, regional, and local governments at $10,000 per year. The taxpaying class will save a fortune, and we'll be oh so eco-friendly to boot!
If you vote for me I'll tear down and convert all UN structures into a privately financed homeless shelters for those who are legally in the USA: using 10% of the UN budget to fund it. The remainder of the funds would be applied to our budget.
Fire them ALL!
I made a mistake in my statement about Iggie, it was not his mother who was from Russia, it was his paternal grand-mother.
