I was just looking at an article yesterday that showed projected US Govt revenues and expenditures for the period August 3 to August 31, ie. the first month after the deadline for raising the debt ceiling. If the debt ceiling is not raised, the US Govt will have to cut $135 billion in order to reduce its currently projected $307 billion expenditures to match its $172 billion revenues.

There are some expenditures that cannot be cut in the short term such as interest on the debt, payments to active military, IRS refunds. Everything else, including Social Security, Medicare, Health and Education, Defense Vendors and Federal Administration would have to be cut by 50% in order to balance.

On the other hand, if the debt ceiling is raised, the unsustainable gap between revenues and expenditures on entitlement programs and the military can continue until reality finally forcefully intervenes. That may come sooner than expected by the current crop of decision makers

It is in this environment that we are seeing the absolute inanity of what the US Govt. continues to fund and the issues that the blissfully ignorant purveyors and consumers of government services continue to consider important.

Yes indeed it did.
The original grant included a data conversion factor for the effects of climate on shrinkage. The results affirmed global cooling. All participants bought SUVs and the final report was edited.

So they concluded that a man's shortcomings lead to other shortcomings? I am shocked, shocked...

Edison din't need a grant & neither did Ford or the Right bothers. The telephone was never given tax monies to develop nor the thousand other things we use every day including TV. Its all Corporate welfare for bigger bonuses, perks, with sloppy work. This is feed money for votes.

Dear President Obama, if you want to win the future, you have to secure the present. To help you secure the present, look north.

If these research funds were as hard to get as the disability benefits for both US and Canadian military veterans/ police there would never be a problem with waste. I speak from personal experience.
