A friend from (then) Czechoslovakia once explained a key difference between attitudes in the west and under commies. In the west, when a family saves enough to buy a cow, the neighboring family might be inspired to save to buy their own cow. Under communism, the neighboring family is inspired to kill the offending cow. That way, everyone's equal again.

Feels like we're heading toward the cow-killing approach.

No, the socialist demands that the state confiscate the cow..since the neighbour does not also have one. Then, slaughter it, and distribute the meat to all those who, originally, had no cow. The original owner gets nothing; he 'had' the cow.

I think Communism is to Socialism as AL qaeda Islam is to the mythical "moderate" Islam. Both are driven by hatred.Maybe this explains the affinity progressives have for radical Islam.It just isn't much of a stretch.
