Whether it be financial institutions or civil defense or foreign wars or health care or immigration or a whole host of other things, the corrupt & hypocritical Leftist Mind will praise the actions of "progressive" politicians but condemn those of conservative ones ... even though the actions may be absolutely identical!
In a stellar new piece, Victor Davis Hanson outlines example after example of this in America. Here's a snippet:
There is a vast machinery of selective liberal outrage, fueled and lubricated by the media, universities, and celebrity entertainment. When the redistributive welfare state starts to run out of money, the gears and pulleys are flipped on and shrill charges of greed, cruelty, nativism, and racism spew out of the production line. The machine sputters and shuts down when an aggrieved liberal suddenly must either make cuts or adapt the very policies that he used to damn. Understand the mechanics of selective outrage, and our upside-down politics becomes comprehensible . . . .

Like we concluded about LIBRANO policies here, a long time back, there is one agenda and one agenda only.....power. Once that is assumed, it all makes sense and is actually somewhat predictable.
The essence of socialism:
"the essence of socialism – grievance, complaint, rhetoric, protests, demonstrations and strikes."
"Leftists are like labor unions who will picket a construction site rather than build houses of their own. Because that is the essence of socialism – grievance, complaint, rhetoric, protests, demonstrations and strikes. But never, ever does socialism do anything productive – no building, no construction, no jobs, no efficient energy, no useful products for the citizens, no stores, no factories. Which is why socialism always causes poverty. Because it is a nonproductive system."

And all of this is made more damaging by the Party Line. Of course the Communist Party had an official "general line of the party". Disagreements with the party line were treated as a political crime: anti-Soviet agitation. It had curious effects on occasion: Orwell mentions a British communist, drinking in a pub with his fellows, and denouncing the Nazis. He went to the toilet and came back to find his buddies full of praise for the Nazis. Yup - the signing of the Hitler-Stalin treaty had just been announced.
The modern leftist doesn't need the enforcement of a party. It believes what other leftists believe. This can be striking - one of my colleagues seems a reasonable person, is pleasant, and hardworking, and is well regarded by our students. But what do I find when I visited her Facebook page? Stuff against bottled water and in favour of tap water.
St. John's tap water looks like dilute urine, it stinks, and it does not taste well. It is thought to contain a good quantity of lead.

The essence of socialism.
Irony is that the "Raging Greeks" are raging at a socialist coalition government.
Here is the finger-pointing: "blaming the crisis on political corruption."
Translation: It's not our fault even though we voted for the socialists.

"Raging Greeks stage biggest anti-austerity protest"
"Tens of thousands Greeks rallied in central Athens on Sunday to denounce politicians, bankers and tax dodgers, as the government prepared to inflict another bout of austerity demanded by its international lenders.
“Thieves - hustlers - bankers,” read one banner as more than 50,000 people packed the main Syntagma square outside parliament to vent their frustration over rising joblessness as austerity bites, blaming the crisis on political corruption.
Turnout was the biggest so far in a series of 12 nightly rallies on the square inspired by Spain’s protest movement.
Amidst a sea of splayed hands waved at the parliament building — an offensive gesture for Greeks — one demonstrator raised a placard reading “Bravo Yemen”, whose president underwent surgery in Saudi Arabia for injuries suffered in a rocket attack on his palace."

"Portuguese center-right kick out Socialists in vote
LISBON (Reuters) - Portugal's center-right Social Democrats (PSD) won Sunday's general election, booting out Prime Minister Jose Socrates' Socialists after they sought a 78-billion-euro bailout that will bring deep austerity, exit polls showed.
Exit polls by three television stations gave the Social Democrats between 37 and 42.5 percent of the vote, far ahead of the Socialists who scored between 24.4 percent and 30 percent.
"These are clear results which the Socialist Party wants to recognize. All the results point to a win for the PSD and a defeat for the Socialists," Economy Minister Jose Vieira da Silva said shortly after the exit polls were published.
The election ends a period of political uncertainty that started with the collapse of the Socialist government in March and led Lisbon to become the third country in the euro zone to seek a bailout after Greece and Ireland.
The Portuguese, who face the highest level of unemployment in their country for three decades, were expected to reject caretaker Prime Minister Socrates because of the dire state of the economy.
Social Democrat leader Pedro Passos Coelho is now expected to form a government together with the rightist CDS party, which won between 10.1 percent and 14 percent of the vote, according to the exit polls. With the preliminary results, he should be able to form a strong majority in parliament with the CDS."
