AGW is a complicated narrative, just like the theory of evolution. No one person understands the whole of it, therefore they believe, or not.

The theory of evolution has had many more years to be propagandized, therefore is more widely believed.

I used to be of the thought that Liberals are of the Not-Evil-Just-Wrong sort. That they are otherwise earnest individuals who mean well. And, while the foregoing may continue to be the case, recently I have also come to the same conclusion as Delingpole: Liberals really are too stupid for words.

The example at hand shows that Chris Matthews et. al. actually believe that CAGW is under reported in the media, or that the skeptic side is given undue weight.

How can you even debate such a person? How do you reasonably engage someone who is clearly devoid of rational thought? Perhaps even the 'stupid' label is too charitable. 'Dumb as a sack of nails' perhaps is a better descriptor.

The former Soviets politicized science (and so did the Nazis and the Maoist Chinese). That's why so many genuine scientists and intellectuals were imprisoned or killed in these places -- they refused to twist science into an ideological pursuit.

But the intersting thing about the Soviets for example -- if you ever study the subject -- is that although they required their scientists to give lip-service to their anti-scientific ideology (or else off to the gulag!) they discovered that the ideologicial approach was seriously limiting their application of science in the real world.

Defectors from the Soviet Union recount how although Western "bourgeoisie" science was officially rejected, in fact secretly the Soviets followed objective science unhindered by ideology in many of their programs, for example in the space race, missile technology, intelligence, etc., and in fact stole much of the technology from the West. Otherwise it was doomed to failure.

Sooner of later our neo-Marxist neophytes in the AGW scientific community will discover the same thing, after they realize that everything they apply based on ideology is failing. The problem is, why should we have to pay for it while we wait for these dolts to reach the level of enlightenment that the backward Soviets and Chinese reached decades ago?

Most liberals consider themselves educated and most conservatives uneducated. Personally I think most education is wasted on the 'educated'.

Yes, that's correct - no amount of irrelevant nonsense can change the science. I know this is hard for you to understand, but science isn't politics; tarring your opponents doesn't result in your views being "elected".

Hard to believe how far Rolling Stone magazine has fallen; in the early 1970's they published HST's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas in two issues that I still have. That was their high point and going from that to one of the most idiotic magazines on the planet is quite a step.

Listening to the morons chatter to one another made me wonder if they are of the same species as us or if they are an elementary schools AI project that went horribly wrong with just the skin wrappers around the malfunctioning computers being constructed properly. I also pondered what might cause such incredible neurologic damage so as to render people incapable of rational thought -- it involves a lot more than a frontal lobotomy.

Compared to these idiots, the most extreme member of a fundamentalist Christian religion looks quite sane. What we're dealing with here is not science, as I doubt any of the people in the clip would have the slightest chance of passing a high school science test, but rather the adherents of a radical religion of environMentalism. They are just walking in the same steps as the wandervogel and German naturalists did on their way to being cogs in a totalitarian machine. These people even make cargo cult science look good.

When I see such public displays of stupidity, I'm so glad that the US has the 2nd Amendment as, sadly, it appears that it may become necessary to deal with these morons in the only way they can understand.

No they aren't. What they are is slaves to their ideology. They are in denial because that's the only way they can maintain that ideology. Al Gore doesn't really believe the nonsense he spouts but he knows he has to maintain the facade. I have a brother who holds a doctorate (and I don't) so he isn't stupid, yet he believes the AGW nonsense, and is a dyed-in-the-wool liberal, although he doesn't live as though he believes.

Alex is a good example of a liberal who obviously isn't stupid. From his offerings here it's plain to see that he doesn't really believe in AGW either, but pretends to in order to support his ideology.

Never confuse stupid with misguided, uniformed or ideologically driven. After all, Obama fits the description of liberal and he's the president of the USA. Not stupid by a long shot.

Accusations of stupidity is a typical lefty claim. Bush has university education, was a fighter pilot. You can't get those if you're stupid, yet that's what lefties believe. Sarah Palin also has a degree, ran a successful business, took on the political establishment and won, again, things you cannot accomplish if you're stupid.

You can be wrong, you can be negligent in informing yourself, you can be incompetent, you can be all those together and not be stupid. By resortin to such smears, you tend to underestimate your opponent and are likely to find yourself on the losing side of any conflict. By all means, point out your opponents weaknesses and failings, but don't just dismiss him/her with charges of stupidity.

My observation is that the more liberal the mind the more effort is put into rationalisation of its response to any matter.
At the extreme ... complete self absorbtion and delusion. It gets amplified in groups.

The more conservative the more effort is put into analysis of the matters at hand. At the extreme .... complete alienation and cynicism. Something that tends to keep conservatives from depending on participation in groups. It also makes conservatives contemptuous of those who try to herd them into a group so if you want to organise a large group of conservatives you had better have a good reason to convince them. At the end of the day a conservative doesn't really give a rats ass if you disagree with him.
