The Reeking Stench of Insincere Apologists

Video kindly uploaded by Matt from Mississauga

The "apology" that galls me the most is that of of Camille Cacnio. You can read it here. Call me old fashioned but in times past, the apologies I viewed as sincere & heartfelt didn't go on & on & on scolding others about how *they* should feel about one's own terrible actions. Sorry, but I don't detect ANY real remorse in Ms. Cacnio's tirade. Even the [generally] far left readers of the Georgia Straight can't buy into what she wrote.

At least one of her paragraphs shows promises of a future job writing satire on SNL:

As many of you already know, I am majoring in Conservation Biology at UBC. I strongly belirve in ecological conservation and sustainability. That night, I saw a few people that were trying to knock trees down. So what did I do? I yelled at them, saying “Pleaaseee, not the treees!!!!” And what did they do? They stopped. And I felt like a hero.

Narcissists like Cacnio are the poster children of the entitlement generation. Their parents failed to do their jobs properly and now society & the judicial system has to clean up their mess. In this 24 Hours Vancouver article, her mother was interviewed and said, “I’m not condoning what she did … She’s not a really bad kid (but) they’re labeling her as a criminal. [The people on the social media sites] have the same mob mentality (as the rioters)."

Dear Mrs. Cacnio, your daughter was videoed fleeing a Black & Lee clothing store with stolen merchandise. She has publicly admitted to the same. What about that doesn't make her a criminal?!? Yet you have the arrogant audacity to call outraged citizens, who are demanding that justice be served, as having "the same mob mentality" as the rioters. "Rioters", such as Camille you mean?! Can anyone say "Parent of the Year" award . . . on The Onion, that is.

Whether it be Vancouver 2011 or Toronto 2010 or wherever, we have a SERIOUS problem in our country. It involves the entitlement mentality, lack of real parenting, and complete unaccountability. And I'm not just talking about our politicians!

Update: Someone has taken the time to create a parody apology that rightfully mocks Camille Cacnio's complete insincerity. h/t Blazing Cat Fur

Good for Ezra! Hear hear! I couldn't agree more.

I don't think she gets it. Her apology is a non-apology and I am left feeling she would do it again if the circumstances were right. That and wearing a mask next time.

Wow, Ezra is a God, an absolute God, I tell you!

I don't believe Cacnio's apology and I know she would definitely recidivate again if given the chance.

Aw, you guys!

Have you no compassion?

C'mon, link hands, all together now:

"We are the world,
We are the children,
We are the ones who make a brighter day..."

It turned out so wrong,

for strangers in the riot.

"If you can keep your head, when all about you are losing theirs . . . " OK, a big "F" on that one, doubly so for the male rioters.

if someone actually made a parody they would be such a pathetic loser haha . wow. this world is sad

Well she apologized to everyone except the family cat and the town drunk,I wonder why she didn t think of any of these people or organizations when she decided to participate in anarchy. She is a phoney self entitled product of parental enablement and the zero consequence generation.

As I said from the begining, The Vancouver riots were born and bred in the incubator of the leftoshpere!

An amoral ideology, spreading outward from the Liberal white suburbs & Universities of western cities throughout the western world.

From here sprouts the little animals, the useful idiots, that allow the greater worlds animals to feed on us all.

I think that all the comments about her apology justifying her actions or blaming others made her edit her apology. Her new version is here: http://camillecacnioapology.wordpress.com/ You can see the previous version here:

Unlike the water polo player, she doesn't have an entourage of lawyers, advisers, others to tell her what to say...

Ezra had Alex Tsakumis on his show tonight. He's the Vancouver blogger that's reporting on the incompetents in city hall. Oddly it's not on sun news videos, yet. Matt from Mississauga any chance you have it? I missed it. Here's a little from his latest...

*And in other developments, the Chief now admits that it wasn’t small group of anarchists working alone….and the Mayor INCREDIBLY admits that he doesn’t know the number of cops on duty–but that’s been his line for almost a week! Don’t you think that the Mayor of Canada’s third largest city should care enough to want to find out??? And yet, Robertson doesn’t care–doesn’t care at all.*

http://alexgtsakumis.com/2011/06/20/breaking-news-penny-ballem-and-gregor-robertson-order-chief-constable-chu-to-stand-down/

Mr. T, I am aware of the sanitized subsequent version but it's absolutely irrelevant to me. She spoke her mind and now has to accept the consequences of that. She truly is the Poster Girl for the Entitlement Generation and she sickens me.

Wow. The comments in the Georgia Strait were scathing. Almost hard to read at times.

The last 20 years has produced a generation of utterly spoilt children who are now turning into young adults.

These feeble-minded brats are both the product of a generation of new-age parenting, where the child is always right, and the product of an educational system where everyone gets an A.

Behold the results of yet another failed experiment of the left.

It is truly hard to stomach that these feeble human beings are getting a university education, subsidized by the taxpayer.

An absolutely brilliant commentary by Ezra! Camille Cacnio should be required to watch it.

Ezra did this piece and just a few hours later Adler covered it.

He tut tutted the rioters and then spent the rest of the segment going after the real "mob". Those nasty people online who outed these morons.

Once a week I give Adler a look see in hopes that he does a decent show.

Still waiting.

Wow.

As far as petty west-coast criminals, classless acts and hollow apologies go, this one might even topple Lord-of-the-Rings Robinson on the moron scale.

Time for boot camps. Place the boots wherever they will do the most good.

I find Conservatives have a great deal of 'entitlement' in their goals. They just don't say it out loud.

"Behold the results of yet another failed experiment of the left"

Actually, for those on the "left", things are turning out just they way they had hoped.

Does anyone think these dipsticks would have apologized if they had not been caught red-handed on video? Prosecute them. Probably for the first time in their pampered lives they will have to be accountable for their actions and suffer consequences.

"... moral inversion..."

Precisely, Ezra. Precisely.

"We have stopped teaching right and wrong, good and evil."

Another excellent observation, Ezra. The story lines coming out of Vancouver's riots illustrate the depravity wrought through moral relativism.

You know that train that's barreling down the track, the one I keep warning about? Well, Vancouver Burning is it -- and I'm sure there's more to come.

When the elected officials are derelict in their duty to protect the safety and security of the public, the mob will run wild, contrary to the prediction of Chief Constable Chu just before the game that "there will be no riot." When the Mayor and the Police Chief tell their police officers to stand down in the face of rioting, vandalizing, burning, looting, smashing, assaulting, then, Ottawa, we have a problem.

(I'm wondering how many of the privileged, entitled thugs go to church on a regular basis? I have a sneaking suspicion that young people active in their faith had little or nothing to do with the melee in downtown Vancouver. What needs to happen, rather than simply focusing on the rioters and their motivations, is a survey of those in the crowd who didn't rampage: What made the difference in the choices they made?)

The Consequence Free generation is about t find out there are always consequences.

The kid burning the cop car has now been outed as setting other fires earlier in the night . . . as part of his momentary lapse of judgement.

And the girl who lit the cop car up . . . she was mooning cops earlier.

The public shaming of these idiots is long overdue and a direct result of the lack of confidence people have in the justice system. People know that, in spite of what the politicians say, little if anything will happen to those charged in the riots. At most they might get a light slap on the wrist. So the outlet of social media is now there and the public is using it ways that the little buggers involved in the riots didn't anticipate.

TJ; that nailed it, this is the result of the feeble minds who voted for Turdough, spawning a new "watch me" generation. The pathetic media in this country swooned, dropped to their knees, kissed the ground under Peeair, he was their god. But to anyone with a brain, he was so close to the devil himself it was hard to seperate them in family pics. Behold the results of "lazzier fairy" or however that bastard said it.

"(Cacnio's) mother was interviewed and said, “I’m not condoning what she did … She’s not a really bad kid (but) they’re labeling her as a criminal. [The people on the social media sites] have the same mob mentality (as the rioters)."

I think I'm beginning to see where young Ms. Cacnio's entitlement issues come from.

Ms DePape has a supportive mommy, too.

batb and I are teachers: we’ve seen the “yout” aliens being incubated in our schools for decades—and have often written here about this travesty. On June 16, we wrote:

batb: “You know how lookout and I, who are both in the classroom, keep warning about the train that's coming down the track? Well, this is one of them, and it's only the start. Hooligans, vandals, barbarians -- just for the Hell of it. This violent mob scene is the logical consequence of years of no meaningful consequences at school and at home. If you're tough on a kid who's trashing downtown Vancouver, the police officer will himself be in court for ‘violating’ the kid's rights. If you're tough on a kid at school, the parents and admin put you in the dock; if you're tough on a kid at home, s/he can call Children's Aid and have you charged with abuse.

“Now tell me where's the abuse?”

lookout: “. . . Now, the post-Christian generation of parents has been brainwashed to believe that spanking or raising one’s voice to one’s misbehaving kids is child abuse. Some sympathy for the parents: the public agencies, via the Charter, are all too willing to go after ‘insensitive’ parents. PARENTS, TEACHERS, AND THE POLICE ARE NOW THE ONES REINED IN AND PUNISHED. We’re now seeing the full blown results of such lunacy.

“Go anywhere where there are kids—it starts before kindergarten: our kids HAVE NO FEAR OF ADULTS. ‘The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.’ It’s sort of the same with kids and adults in any society. No fear, along with the impetuousness and arrogance of youth, is an incendiary combination. THE KIDS ARE RUNNING RAMPANT AND IT’S THE ADULTS, WHO SHOULD BE IN CHARGE, WHO ARE RUNNING SCARED.

“Are we ready to name the disease? If not, things will get far worse before—and if—they get better. Things don’t have to get better: great civilizations fall—usually they decay from the inside out, and are exploited by outside, hostile forces. I believe we’re headed, swiftly, in a downward trajectory. It’s about time the adults were in charge—parents, teachers, and police. But wait! A lot of the so-called ‘adults’ behave like toddlers, themselves. Vicious circle . . .”

We have plenty of laws and protocols to support parents, teachers, and the police, and to punish—yup, that’s the word I want—and deter the miscreants. And, Mrs. Cacnio, maybe your daughter’s “not a bad kid”: I’ll concede that that’s a possibility. But, like it or not, she is now “not a bad kid, soon to have a criminal record”. That’s how it’s supposed to work, unless . . . our laws aren’t used. Laws are obviously of no use if the public officials of this Deranged Dominion—who have a sacred trust to use them for the safety and protection of law abiding Canadians—don’t grow a pair soon and put them—our laws!—into effect. (Then, of course, there’s the Charter, which has had an altogether chilling effect on the proper use of the law to deter criminals. Merci, Pierre.)

Let’s hope that the utter travesty of the Vancouver riots and the aftermath, all caught on camera, wakes a few people up. Thank goodness for the social media and SNN, telling it like it is. God help us and let's smarten up.

Mrs. Cacnio says, “. . . [The people on the social media sites] have the same mob mentality (as the rioters).” Of course they do.

As I wrote in an earlier post, the rioters and social media bullies (as opposed to those providing evidence of crimes being committed) are one and the same crowd. Who’d be surprised that they eat their own? The only person these toddlers care about is #1: that’s how we’ve socialized them.

Notice how Liberal Media has changed the narrative, now the riot issue isn't about the actions of the thugs and rioters but the narrative is about big ole mean society and how they are reacting to the rioters' violent thieving behavior. Once again Liberal media narrates the story from the thugs view point whilst calling those who are demanding accountability as bad as the thugs.Jesus wept the media is as bad as the narcissistic thugs.

It is comments by Cacnio about the "ecosystem" and the "environment" are illustrative of the mentality driving the green movement and the people within it. Anything is excusable as long as it is done for the planet. Rational people are having a environmental jihad waged against them by these green fanatics and it is time to take the gloves off when dealing with them. There is really nothing "environmental" about it - the Suzuki Foundation and its ilk are just another twisted cult programming the youth on the planet. Looting is just one way of "fighting back" for the sake of the planet.

Next time I see a real Xmas tree cut down, I might need to start a riot. Not by choice of course, but because of environmental mob mentality inherent in environ”mentalism “ and the fact that I like Xmas trees.

Maybe this is why the innocent and downtrodden Muslim youth of France have carbeques every Xmas?
Explains it all.

Would that be Christmas?

I'm predicting that Nathan, the son of government employees (surgeon and nurse) will not be charged with anything, making yesterday's discussion about jail a bit silly.
My wife believes that the on-line perp-identifiers may end up suffering more than the rioters.
WOW, did Adler really excoriate the online identifiers? Is Adler's mind addled?
I read somewhere this morning that cops don't look kindly upon on-line rioter-identifiers! You see, they're not "professional policepersons". These things should not "be tried at home". Union mentality?
Further to batb/lookout comments from the front lines, a retired teacher told me the other day that a fine, highly respected teacher in West Vancouver was taken to court by a lawyer father for not covering one unit in ... a social studies course which of course everyone knows would not have stunted the child's development. Thankfully, the judge lectured the lawyer about the example he was setting for his son.
Finally, I must pull out my Hans Hermann-Hoppe's (the now leading austro-libertarian), The Private Production of Defense. Clearly the State is too busy with peripheral matters to do a good job on its core responsibility. Like having FOUR motorcycle cops at the first exit from the Second Narrows bridge just inside a speed zone change on a recent sunny day in Vancouver.

Even after all this and the phoney apology by that polo player turd, we the taxpayer will likely end up financing a trip to the olympics for that self entitled brat.As for the others we are already subsidizing their university education in basket weaving, flower worship and other supposedly environmental sciences.

F***, can you just get over it already? Vancouver is a stinking cesspool filled with smelly hippies, why is anyone surprised or outraged by what happened? It is their city, they can do whatever they want with it.

I love this bit:
"But in my immature, intoxicated perspective all I saw was that the riot was happening, and would continue happening with or without me, so I might as well get my adrenaline fix."

Nothing that a blast from a fire hose wouldn't cure.

Kevin Lafayette, it's our country, and we can rant, vent, cry, bloviate, criticize, if we want to.

What's your excuse? You're obviously part of the problem. I can see that you're a myopic, inwardly-spiraling-me-me-me-circle kind of guy and don't get the big picture.

Look up and out! The city you save may be yourself.

She spoke like a true UBCer, an indoctrinated Suzuki dupe.

Trees are more important than people so don't touch the TREEEEES !! After all, people are just those things that build stores and windows and make jeans and stuff that I can loot. Trees, now they are really something big in my life, real role models, so hug em.

[David Suzuki is a Canadian icon celebrated as a researcher, science broadcaster and environmental activist. He is the co-founder of the David Suzuki Foundation and has worked to popularize science and environmental issues throughout his career. Before beginning a career in the media, Suzuki was a zoology professor at UBC. Suzuki will receive his honorary degree in the fall.]

What? ET's not on here yet urging no jail time for these criminals. Wait for it.

I wonder how these terrorists would feel if it was their car being torched or their home being robbed. If the shoe was on the other foot they would demand justice. Sorry boys and girls you committed serious crimes and should do serious time.

My ex-neighbour's kids (well 20 something year olds) were at the viewing zones or whatever they were called. Once people started going at the cars they got the hell out of there and went over to a friend's house. I was not surprised at all knowing the parents well. Those are good kids.

As others have observed.

WELCOME TO TURDEAUPIA

How are you liking it?

Camille Cacnio is the perfect example, I can imagine her application to UBC.

Academics-hmmm, not so great, but hey she is studying "conservation biology" who really needs academics. On the other hand,
Female-good.
Visible minority-double good.
Feminist-double plus good.
Volunteer-yowzah.

Roll out the bursaries, and scratch that guys name off the list.

Meanwhile the Kotzylak drone's mother is "heavily involved in water polo administration" there is NO chance he will be banned, sidelined for a couple of months until the hulabaloo dies down, maybe.

Oh Canaduh.

I despise apologies that aren't apologies.

If you feel the need to apologize, then so do. Unequivocally. Don't try to excuse, don't lash out at others. Just apologize.

Great article! She asked me to post her apology on my blog when she did it. I explained to her that in good conscience I couldn't do it because I didn't think the readers of my blog would be very kind when they read what she had to say in her angry apology. I even suggested that she may want to change it up a bit. That was early upon her making the apology. She didn't change it until a day later, but it was too late.

To the gal who said it makes no difference if I stole some more...let us try this moral equivalence:

"Well they were shooting all these people anyway, so what does it matter if I shot a couple as well?"

Welcome to the National Socialist ethics class...these people are generally known as amoral morons. Wakey, wakey!! Arise from your slumber, this is out and out balderdash from start to finish, if you take full responsibililty then you accept the full Criminal Code sanctions that go with the act of rioting, looting, pillaging, burning, general mayhem...Oh well we only missed out on rape and murder...but I am still a good person!

Sorry ladies and gentlemen, but setting cop cars on fire and general looting, normally a shooting offence when the martial law guys hit the street, doesn't make you a good person.
This is generally recognized as 'departing from civilization'!!

If everyone followed the rioters lead, we would all just stand back and cheer as our neighbours house was looted, ransacked, and pillaged. Great way to build a society...NOT!

Cheers

I would love to ask that woman what she thinks of all the "good people" who get into their car drunk and kill someone. Just a momentary lapse of judgement eh? No trees harmed (most of the time) right?

Captain Vancouver, thank you for your comment. And thank you even more for your superb blog! Not only do you brilliantly excoriate the twits but you also do so in a most humorous way.

No matter what Charles Adler or anyone else thinks, you ARE providing a GREAT service to the citizens of Vancouver and the rest of Canada!!!

I (who want Nathan Kotylak in jail) am on Camille's side on this one for the following reasons:

1) She was not protected by a lawyer.

2) She admitted to her crimes.

3) She admitted she was intoxicated / drunk.

4) She did not physically assault anyone; she did not attempt to burn down a police car; she did not vandalize or destroy public / private property. Her crime was shoplifting / looting.

Camille's original written apology may not be exactly what we wanted / needed to hear - but it was from her heart. It was not prepared by a lawyer for damage control.

She admitted exactly what she did, she is prepared to face and accept the legal consequences and her only crimes were shoplifting "and being part of the mob".

There were 10's of thousands of people who were "part of the mob" - so unless all of them will be charged, let us put that aside and look at the basics. On a criminal scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the idiots who attacked police and firemen, Camille's crime rated a 2 (maximum).

If Nathan Kotylak is the poster boy for jail time (which he is), Camille is the poster girl for public humiliation (done) plus community service.

I suspect she has learned a life lesson; and will be the first person to walk away the next time a mob forms...

Gord, by your standard it would be ok for me to get drunk, come to your house and steal a few things and be sorry about it later. Give me your address and a good time for me to come on over. How big is your tv?
