Norwegian universities generally jump at any opportunity to invite lecturers from elsewhere. When my Harvard colleague Stephen Walt, co-author of "The Israel Lobby," came to Norway, he was immediately invited to present a lecture at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim. Likewise with Ilan Pappe, a demonizer of Israel who teaches at Oxford.
My hosts expected, therefore, that their offer to have me present a different academic perspective on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict would be eagerly accepted. I have written half a dozen books on the subject presenting a centrist view in support of the two-state solution. But the universities refused.

One of the local anti-Semites is right on the bit this morning.
The Norwegian people are fantastic, however the leftist element is completely insane. Having visited there several years, I witnessed a mob of them listening to a speaker ranting from a bull horn about the royal family of Norway and the church. One member of the mob handed me a cartoon pamphlet mocking christianity and belief in God.
This is not surprising given that Norway was part of the Axis powers in the 2nd world war. Anti-Semetism has been reigning there for generations.

This is incorrect. What happened was that the labour party built down the military and it was a small deal for the germans to occupy Norway. The labour government sacrifised some 20 soldiers in a suicide attack to flee the country. Only to later call the dead and loyal captain in charge of the assault, a maverick.
Norway had a large commercial fleet transporting supplies to UK and that was Norway greatest contribution to the war. Of course after the war the surviors had their pension taken and where generally treated as dirt. For the few still alive, to this very day. I guess Hamas have recived more money than them.
Interestingly the one of the parties in the ruling coalition, the socialist leftwing party had a leader (Hanna Kvanmo)for years that was a nurse for the nazis from 1944(talk about picking the loosing side). The nazi are not right wing. They are senter-left extremeists. Basically pissed of social democrats. The switch for her must have been pain free.

BTW2: The labour party introdused "green" ammo for our new HK416 assault rifles(LOVE IT!!), which didn't use a lead bullet. This made so many soldiers so sick from the fumes that the labour inspection banded it. So we're all out of ammo. The defence minister pushed to get it reintrodused after the army banned it themselves.

Hasse@Norway, I was in your country last September and among other things we saw such as the Viking Ship Museum, we made a point of visiting the Resistance Museum and were impressed.
Furthermore the lady guide we had felt free to talk and confirmed much of what you say. At one point we were high above Oslo and were taking pictures. I asked her what the pastel blue domed building was and she it was a mosque, one of seventeen (I believe) and we are terrified of the future.
My question is why do Norwegians keep voting in such leftist governments. You would think they would have learned a lesson a long time ago.
It appears that Norwegians need a fresh injection of viking blood.
To be entirely fair, Walt should not be placed in the same category as Pappe. Walt has been critical of some Israeli policies, but is far from an anti-semite. Walt is, for the most part, a "moderate" (whatever that actually means).
Pappe is another animal entirely.
