I present to you a music video highlighting some of the best modern jazz, coupled with an excerpt from Cowboy Bebop, a series you should certainly consider ordering through Netflix.

I like Jazz but not this kind. Reminds me a bit of West Coast Jazz. I prefer small combos more along the Bill Evens, Dave Brubeck or Ahmad Jamal line. Throw in a bit of Gerry Mulligan on Baritone Sax & then your startin to cook.

Cowboy Bebop has one of the best jazz soundtracks ever. If anyone gets the chance, definitely check out the 4-disc soundtrack box. The fourth disc is from a live concert of The Seatbelts performing their more popular tunes from the show.

I've heard great things about Cowboy Bebop. Maybe worth dusting off the DVD player for.

Cowboy Bebop does a thing that a lot of anime in the early 90's did. Every other episode is the serious one; the alternating episodes are played mostly for slapstick. So if the tone seems to be whipsawing, it's intentional. Stick with it anyway, it's worth it.

In a similar vein, Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex and Black Lagoon are well worth the rental.

I love Cowboy Bebop. Just got the DVD series from a friend, and am winding through the episodes. I just watched this episode last night! Nice timing.

I also recommend "Darker Than Black", at least the first season (English Subtitles > English Dubbing, in my opinion, at least until I learn Japanese!) - I'm still winding through the second season.
