Not a political link but a useful one: The Khan Academy (http://www.khanacademy.org/) is a set of wonderful tutorials on Grade 12/U1 Math, Chemistry, Physics and Biology. They are hundreds of 10 minute videos that clearly explain scientific principles and are endearingly narrated by Sal Khan, who holds Math, Engineering and Comp Sci degrees from MIT. Very lucid, very enjoyable videos.

It must be as perplexing to his many admirers as it is frustrating to himself that a man of Vice President Gore’s many talents, great skills and strong beliefs is one of the most consistent losers in American politics.

His 1988 presidential bid ended well short of the nomination. Many observers felt Gore was headed for defeat in a third Senate campaign as the south continued to swing Republican; Clinton’s offer of the vice presidential slot in 1992 gave Gore the opportunity to reach a national audience as his home state cooled. On his own again in 2000, gifted by the departing Clinton with the most bubbliciously expanding economy in American history and a comfortable budget surplus, and insulated from the innuendo and scandal of the Clinton White House by his still-vibrant marriage, he found the elusive road to defeat against a flawed and inexperienced challenger. Tennessee voted for Bush; Florida or no Florida Gore would have gone to the White House if those who knew him longest and best had rallied to his support.

Once out of office, he assumed the leadership of the global green movement, steering that movement into a tsunami of defeat that, when the debris is finally cleared away, will loom as one of the greatest failures of civil society in all time.

Their striking has accomplished one thing, the NDP have proven they are not government-in-waiting material. They're a sham, professing to be all for the little guy, the very people they punished with their idiotic filibustering. Ditto the rump Liberals, Bloc and the Green Queen.

I'm thinking particularly of his 40-year marriage to Tipper Gore, because of an alleged affair with Laurie David (Larry David's ex) who he worked with on the Save The Earth Foundation, "a non-profit corporation dedicated to the expansion of environmental awareness in our society" (http://www.savetheearth.org/). From Neal Pargman, the president and founder of Save the Earth: "Motivated by the awareness that the 'Have a Nice Day' smile face of the 60's could bring a positive element into our daily lives, I knew that environmental artwork together with a meaningful message could become a positive influence on our earth's future." Um, well ...

Ironically, in 2001, the Gores wrote a book together entitled Joined at the Heart: The Transformation of the American Family in which they wrote: "For us, as for most Americans, family is our bedrock, and we believe the strength of the American family is the nation's bedrock" (http://books.google.com/books?id=CGYrzt3xKV0C&printsec=frontcover&dq=Goree).

Al Gore has been a failure on a number of fronts but the seeming abandonment of his 40-year-marriage is one of the worst. The guy's become unhinged: just look at his eyes.

macd (aka maz2?), lookout, and I are all on the same page -- at the same time! I've just finished reading Victor Davis Hanson's excellent article, "There are no socialists," over a Pajamas Media.

A must read for everyone -- because we say so ... ;-)

Scientists under the banner of the IPCC are not satisfied that the climate situation is being resolved in a timely enough fashion so they are now discussing ways to "engineer" the planet. Who knew that when they were thwarted in their aims to restructure the world economies, they would morph into this?

Tonight, around 11 p.m., a group of at least 60-70 African American youth marched down one of the side streets (W. Thrush) to the 4 lane main drag (Sheridan). They were yelling threats to white residents. Things such as we need to kill alll the white people around here. They were physically intimidating anyone calling for help from the police. They were surrounding cars. Cars on the main drag had to slam on their brakes to either avoid the youth blocking not only all four lanes, but a large section of the side street as well. fights were breaking out among them. They were rushing residents who looked out their doors, going on to porches, yelling threats to people calling the police for help.
