Reader Tips

I am writing this about 4.5 hours before the start of Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Playoff Finals. The song, Amazing Grace, is one of the most beautiful ever written and this performance by Il Divo is sublime. To me, it speaks of quiet satisfaction emanating from a humble soul. By 9pm PDT / 12am EDT we should know whether the words are more apropos for the fans of the Canucks or the Bruins.

Now, so as not to be labeled a sexist, I think it only appropriate to also post a link to a video that will have an especially profound effect on male ... ears. The group of talented female musicians is called Bond.

As I will be out & about during the game & afterwards, photographing the thousands of fans in downtown Vancouver, I won't be able to publish this item but hope the automatic scheduler does its job!

Wherever your loyalties lie, your hard hitting Reader Tips are most welcome in the comments.

"Canucks fans burn cars"

Folks, no one flipping & burning cars is a "fan". They're just thugs using the loss as cover. What a disgrace to my city!

Yakety Yak-The coasters-original song-1958

Those were the days.

(don't talk back)

A friend sent me an mp3 file a few days ago, and I found a version of the music on youtube: this is 'Waltzing Matilda' and 'The Last Post' combined into a single tune, played by an Australian Army Band (there are several videos at YT with this, but this version was the first I found that seem complete):

Amazing Grace is even more amazing when you realize that the song is the combination of the captive slave's melody and the repentant slave trader's words. While sailing across the ocean with a ship's hold full of captive humans the slave trader could hear their haunting melody. It was a song of mourning and the song only became louder at the all too frequent death of a slave. Although the last verse, it is widely held, was written by someone other than the slave trader it is a profound expression of man's loftiest ambition and highest goal. "When we've been there ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun, we've no less days to sing God's praise than when we first begun." My humble plea is that when I am called to join that choir I will be granted the Grace to sing like those boys.

Robert, yes, this is sad.

I have a funny feeling someone is going to be banned soon, hopefully.

Robert - what really amazed me were the number of people standing around watching the fires and the rioters attack the police; with their fingers up their noses. Why did they not run to get some water to put out the fires, why did they not try to help the police? Why were all those people so useless? And the thugs - no words can suffice to express my disgust for them. Sad.

Nothing is more pathetic, IMO, than sore losers. Low class; no class.

I share your sorrow for your home city and the black eye the people have given it.

Globe and Mail, Wednesday, June 15. The Ontario "human rights" commission weighs on on students seeking roommates to share lodgings.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/toronto/dont-be-so-choosy-roommate-seekers-warned/article2060941/

(Also, Ezra Levant opened his show today by ridiculing the commission, with repeated and justified references to the "kangaroo court")

Globe: "... examples of discrimination included 'ideal for quiet couple or professional single' and 'perfect for female student'." ("not soundproof" was also called discriminatory in the story)

"Advertisements must not imply that a landlord has a preferred gender, sexual orientation, race or religion in mind for a unit. Landlords also aren't allowed to suggest a prospective renter have a job to qualify for an apartment."

"That could mean trouble for those who take out advertisements such as this one posted on the Toronto Craigslist site on Tuesday: 'I'm looking for a woman roommate because women tend to be neater, and also because I just get along with women better then I do men'."

If all of this isn't proof that the OHRC is drifting off into insanity, I don't know what is.

The immediate goal, of course, is to disrupt the productive economy. Producers will be condemned as "greedy" and "racist" while the parasites are praised as "public spirited" and so on. The longer goal is to recruit so-called "victim" groups as a substitute working class for the purpose of overthrowing capitalism, as indicated under the doctrine of political correctness.

For the record: as an application of the right of freedom of association - which is listed in section 2 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms - a person has the right to screen his or her roommates using any criteria he or she pleases.

Ezra suggested that at some point the commission may try to accuse a heterosexual man who only wants to date women of "discrimination".

nv53 - nice analysis. Thanks. Yes, the 'freedom of association' trumps the 'discrimination' junk charge.

The OHRC must be desperate for work to show that they are 'needed' and must be paid by the govt.

Why is 'not soundproof' discriminatory? The description is about the walls and I wasn't aware that the HRC had moved into overseeing the behaviour of walls.

Retired Maj. Gen. Paul Vallely, the chief of Stand Up America U.S., a national security expert , says the "Certificate of Live Birth" released in April by the White House as "proof positive" of President Obama's Hawaiian birth is a forgery, but the FBI is covering the fraud and no one in Congress is willing to tackle the situation because of fears of a "black backlash" if the failings of the nation's first black president are revealed.

In an interview today with Greg Corombos for WND, Vallely, who previously has expressed concerns about the U.S. Constitution and whether the Obama administration is in violation, said, "His actual birth certificate has never been found in Hawaii nor released from Hawaii hospital there, Kapiolani Hospital there, if it in fact did exist."

"We've had 3 CIA agents retired and some of their analytical associates look at it and all came to the same conclusion that even the long-form was a forged document," Vallely said.

"No members of Congress will take this on. The word I get out of Washington is that they don't want to challenge this because it would be in fact a felony offense and in some cases may be even treasonous and [they are] afraid of a black backlash from some of the urban areas," Vallely said.

"But that's a very poor excuse for not taking necessary steps to make sure this president in fact is a legitimate president under Article 2 and he is a born U.S. citizen."

The structures of government designed and intended to uncover wrongdoing, in this case, are on the wrong side, he said.

"I think they're [the FBI} covering for this administration. I think the corruption within this administration is so proliferated through the agencies of government now, we're just in a bad situation here. I think the lack of confidence in our government is growing and many feel that not only all the members of Congress but even our courts are corrupted at this time," he said.

The questions over Obama's eligibility to occupy the Oval Office under the requirements in the Constitution that demand that person be a "natural born citizen" have been raised since before he was elected. ...

You are absolutely right with the following statement.

"If all of this isn't proof that the OHRC is drifting off into insanity, I don't know what is."

This group is becoming more brazen all the time and the politicians do not have the courage to clip their wings.

Well, the bagpipe did it for me: thanks!

The OHRC "drifting into insanity"? It's been there all along. God help us.

And, yes, it would be better if Tim Hudak helped Ontario first. If Conservatives, who are in a position to change the corrupt, unjust, lawfare culture of this country, don't do it, my contempt will be huge. I haven’t voted for all the “conservative” parties over decades to see them squander the power they have to restore the freedoms “guaranteed” to the citizens of Canada. I’m watching!
