Why did the board accept its Director of Education’s resignation in one motion, then hire him back in the following motion for the same pay and position?
Could maybe be called double dipping. Just like teachers retiring and then coming back to sub while newly graduated teachers are unable to find positions.
More corruption. Very common in Saskatchewan's Crown Corporations and public service as well -- guys retiring at 55 with full pension, and not really leaving, meanwhile the Crowns receive tens of thousands of applications per year from people who are often more highly qualified than the retirees.
To stop this farce as much as I hate to say it, would require MORE government interference.
For example, a provincial watchdog, ala a cross between Auditor General and Ombudsman, witht the investigative power and political clout to "look through" the obfuscation of such antics and conclude on the true net result, then to change the situation to reflectt that.
In this example,"so you resigned, and now are eligible for your pension. However, you haven't lost your job, so sorry - no pension for you."
Or, we could just try getting people with integrity into such positions and onto such boards, and when we find ones with no integrity run them out of town on a rail, like in the good old days...
My wife had the same type of thing happen to her but with a twist. No she doesn't work in a union or for the government. The organization she was working for was eliminating health care benefits and anyone who wanted to keep their benefits had to quit and then the management had the option of hiring (them) her back, which they did. She didn't want to retire but was forced into it or she would loose all her medical benefits upon retirement after the drop dead date. New employees get zilch. This type of thing is happening more often in the USA.
"In addition to matching contributions, the government is required to allocate such annual amounts necessary to meet all payments for allowances granted under the Plan."
This crap must End !!!! Why do taxpayers assume all risk "after" folks retire?. That is what a FIXED Private annuity provides....
you know why? the first full time permanent job I had paid $1.80 an hour.
to operate a $10,000,000 DEC PDP10 and a Control Data cyber 73. oh, wait, by then I was making $2.25 an hour subsidizing the parasitic mules of academia and bureaucracy.
then 30 years later I continued to fail to get an apprenticeshit started because the system was rigged against me.
I finally figured out a way to make Asperger's and OCD profitable.
That's great ping, glad to hear you found a (taxpayer funded?) tit to suck on. They were totally screwing you; you're easily worth $2.26 per hour.
$2.25 from pdp-10 days in today dollars is well above minimum wage, BTW. Even though you worked on cool iron, I would still beat you like a red haired kid without hesitation. Get a life. I'm sure the rabblers could buy you one for $2.26 inflation adjusted dollars per hour.
ah max. max, max, max. you are a true blue conservative. just *can't* pass up an opportunity to make it PERSONAL.
I was paid well above minimum wage the entire time I was operating mainframes.
and I was also the ONLY operator to come up with, for example, tricks like the time I rewrote a plotter tape for the PDP11 using the mainframe 9 track drive because the PDP11 system lacked any 'reread' capability.
it saved huge volumes of rigamorole getting the plot tape rewritten for all concerned especially the faculty members who could churn out huge seismic graphs.
I then went on to be the ONLY operator anywhere at the time I worked that got a BSc in Comp Sci.
so yes I was worth far more than your snide fcukface comment 2.26. I was worth far more than what I was paid.
I have a cousin who worked alot of years for Sask Power - electrical engineer. After 28 years he retired but hasn't missed a day's work with them for the last 6 years. He is on contract.
Why this blog? Until this moment
I have been forced

have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice
of an ordinary Canadian

Pension is a strange Siren Song.

Probably an NDP Double Dipper.
Because the Entitled to Their Entitlements class is so deserving of our money.

Pension and long term Worker Comp claim are the holy grail of 'snout in the trough set'.
You find those types are mainly the product of unions or government workers of all types and levels.
The rest of us who still have some pride and integrity will continue to support those pigs as they snout even deeper into the trough.
Any ideas on how we can not continue this farce?

Carl, there is another way.
Tax. Cut. Stop feeding the pigs and they will go away.

Right on, Phantom.
Simplest is best.
lanche!
You folks will have to sue to get the answers. The boards are corporations and are under no obligation to speak to anyone.

In Gument circles it is called 'working the system'; we have many experts in this field in our country.
Im working the system.

Double Dip? You bet.
