Non-Fans Disgrace Vancouver

What an absolute disgrace in my hometown. No true Hockey Fan would do this!

Update: Vancouver just made the news in Sydney, Australia. What a proud moment ... NOT!!! They provided a link that I'm aptly calling a Gallery of Losers.

Update 2: Video of the destruction of downtown Vancouver :-(

Idiots.

OMG...they burnt a PRIUS...why? why?

Is this.. like...an Arab spring..?

Syncrodox, I'm mad as hell at what I'm seeing but what you just wrote is damn funny!!!

LOL, Syncro.

Tear gas time.

I understand your anger Robert but at this point black humor does seem in order...

Apparently there were Hab fans in the vicinity, so it halfway makes sense.

Not so Mark...apparently Luongo didn't get away fast enough.

"OMG...they burnt a PRIUS...why? why?"

I doan care who y'are...that's funny.

While I hoped Vancouver would win, their arrogance and lack of physical strength, save Kesler and Riff Raffi did them in, to bad after 41 years, oh well, but these loonie lefties outside burning cars, even if they were Suzukis and Priusus is just wrong, that only contributes to globull warming, this will cause us to lose our planet and we will be floating through space with our hands on our hips saying, "we lost a perfectly good planet"...I have had too much exposure to all things Vancouver I fear. Well done Boston.

And they are now sending in the horses..I pray those idiots don't start throwing marbles, and injuring them like they did at G8.

Stop calling them non-fans. These are the same nucks fans I see at the Saddledome.

They only had two choices, "a mad riot" or "a happy riot." I knew this would happen.

Don't give the lunatics any attention, it only encourages them
All I want to say to the Canucks is a huge THANK YOU! It's been an incredible season and playoff run.
I met a former Calgary Flame fan, who followed the Flames run to the cup and was so disappointed that she said "never again". And has not watched hockey since.
Not me. If anything I have come to love the game more through the 2010 /2011 Canucks. You made it very fun to be a Vancouver fan. (have been since '71.

The mayor of Vancouver is an idiot and should bear a lot of responsibility for this. It was his idea to have huge viewing areas and when you get that many people in one place you are asking for trouble.

Yeah sure, duffman. Using your logic, the same "fans" brought Molotov Cocktails with them, right?!

Robert W, I've been to a lot of hockey games in about half of the rinks across the NHL and Vancouver fans are some of the least classy out there.

It's been my experience that most hockey fans you could go have a beer with after a game regardless who wins, but the nucks seem to have larger portion of a-hole followers that either are more numerous or are way more vocal than any other and you just want to punch them.

If these are just punks in the population shouldn't this happen every year? Why just in Vancouver? Calgary had the red mile with nothing major happen, Edmonton burned a phone booth, Vancouver twice have embarrassed the nation for all to see.

At least they're behaving like Canadian anarchothugs...CBC is reporting looting at The Bay...

Horny Toad, same thing happened in '94 when they lost and there were no outdoor screens then.

Ho hum. At least we don't get quite as violent as they do in Montreal when then win.

About as accurate as "Maple Leafs fans erupt in anger after G20"

Robert,

Have to agree with Duffman. Canuck Fans from my experience are the most abrasive fans out there. Obviously there are some people there that aren't fans just looking to start something but it's not like this didn't happen before in 1994. And comparing the city vs. canucks fans nothing like this happened during the Olympics (athough Canada won).

SolidF...

If a majority of the people rioting at the G20 where wearing Leaf Jerseys apparel then then you'd have a point

I was impressed initially with the Canucks fans in the building. They seemed to be able to tell the difference between Gary Bettman and the Boston players. Booing only when appropriate (when Bettman was speaking), and yet cheering the cup winners.

As the Japanese line up orderly for help after their lives have been torn apart by an earthquake, these assholes carry on ruining a beautiful city. Take lots of pictures, identify, prosecute and make these dog turds pay for the damaged property. Fat chance in a city where lefties supply free drugs to the dregs of society.

Never and earthquake when you need one...

"nothing like this happened during the Olympics"

And if that was true, you might have a point as well.

Thanks for the shout-out though.

Again, I've got to say it. THANK YOU CANUCKS. One amazing season!!!
True hockey fans love good hockey. The refs (bettmann) tried to screw up the hockey. Either too many calls, or not enough. The players had no indication how the games would be called. One minute they are blowing everything. The next, nothing.

So there were burning cars during the olympics?

There's a difference between a protest and a Riot

By the way, it is pretty hard to set a car on fire with a lighter, or construction bins with a match. I think you will find that this,(some of it, anyway) was planned by groups like Act Up or else criminal gangs. Of curse, that is not to say that there aren't a lot of idiots in Vancouver. I know, I live here!

Maybe these idiots were never told to never crap in your own bed.

Your beloved CBC also described the Olympic protests as a "riot" and those involved as "rioters". You are complaining on the wrong site.

And there will be arrests.
And there will be eye witness accounts.
And there will be video evidence.
And some Judge will just say .... tsk tsk.

When I saw the lack of penalties, whistles in the pockets, I thought it might happen. In all probability, it's the same anarchist crew that just loves to burn things and loot stores.

Written to a Boston fan friend just moments ago:

"...another choke, another lost Cup, another humongous mob of inbreds trashing downtown Vancouver. Possibly some of them were the kids of the very scumbags who did it last time. The apple never falls far from the tree, so they say.

Boston deserved the win, and not only did the Canucks not deserve it, neither did the people of Vancouver."

@Robert W - you're a good guy, but if you haven't noticed that a significant percentage of the population of the Lower Mainland are the dregs of civilization, you must not get out much.

Just checked YouTube, and there are going to be pics of an awful lot of people committing crimes, and there will be literally hundreds of them, because, of course, there are a lot of phones and digital cameras etc., in a lot of hands, and a lot of good people who are ashamed of what happened will be offering these pics, to police. Sadly, because of cost, not many will be charged.

At what point did I mention I liked the CBC? I watched the Game on NBC that's how much I dislike the CBC.

I'll I'm saying is to say that Canucks fans have nothing to do with this when it's happened both time the canucks have lost in the Finals is ignoring facts

I blame global warming.

Hey they are at least consistent...
They don't know how to win.

And they don't know how to lose.

I was here in Calgary for all those riots after we lost in 2004...

Next year every time the goalie touches the puck they can all shout

"Serrrrr!"

Idiots live everywhere. Too bad the north American media get to watch your idiots just after the biggest sporting event in Canada since 2010. Vancouver is suffering an embarrassment. Does not matter if it is a small group. It is a group of people in Vancouver burning cars, and rolling over Smart Cars? Really? Smart cars? Only on the loonie left coast!

Flatlander

burning cars...

Thank God Paris doesn't have a hockey team!

Folks, I don't want to get in any fights with any of you. I was born & raised here and have lived back here for the past decade.

What I'm seeing downtown is breaking my heart. But let's be clear about a few things:

1. The vast majority of Vancouverites are DISGUSTED by what they're seeing.

2. The violence is being perpetrated by a few hundred people, with a few thousand more cheering them on. THESE individuals are indeed the DREGS of my city. But they don't constitute the majority.

What bugs me the most, I think, is that:

a. The police will be blamed for this within a few days.

b. Little to nothing will be done to the perpetrators, no matter how much evidence the police have against them.

That is what is mostly wrong with my city & my province. The Kumbaya B.S. eventually results in this sort of anarchy. :-(

Sad and livid.

Sorry Robert, but I have to agree with duffman here. Some Canuck fans are over-bearing idiots, and they seem to be the vocal majority. I recall Canuck fans deridng the Flames and Oilers during their recent runs and swearing they would never cheer for them, but when the Canucks make it to the second round, suddenly Vancouver is 'Canada's Team' and everyone has to cheer for them.

Personally, I am glad Boston won; it may be time for the fans and the team to take a hard look at themselves in the mirror and see what is wrong. Not only do some fans go nuts after the 'Nucks lose a game, so does the team. I remember H. Sedin saying that "this is what happens when a game gets to 5-1 or 7-1" in defense of his team's behaviour at the end of Game 3. Funny, I never see Detroit do that.

Time to get new leadership on the Canucks (Kesler looks good for it), classier coaching and time to start calling out Vancouver fans for uncouth behaviour. And it should start with fellow Canuck fans by calling out the loser fans and not labelling them "Non-Fans". Time to own up to your fellow fans churlish behaviour and call them on it. Because ALL Canuck fans look bad tonight due to the 1%.

It is likely upsetting and frustrating for the good Canuck fans, but that is the way it is. These rioters are what non-Canuck fans think all Canuck fans are like.

Now the question is, do the good Canuck fans critique comments like this, or get to work on your fellow fans behaviour, and critique their behaviour as Canuck fans?

I think the Canuck fans here are actually surprised of the opinion of the other hockey here. Don't run from it, but realize that yes, Canuck fans have a bad rep.

So how about those canucks, oh wait they lost.
HAHAHAHA!!!

As a hardcore Colorado Avalanche fan, good riddence and congrats to Boston.

The canucks fans are sore losers, just like the liberal party. Deport the rioters to the middle east where they belong.

I blame the full moon.
And Trojan Horses.

The CTV live feed has some good footage...black bloc thugs looting The Bay and whatnot...

So in defense of Robert...fans is a pretty broad term.

I didn't say Canucks fans had nothing to do with it, I said it was "About as accurate as Leaf Fans erupting in anger after G20".

I'm sure a few of the rioters in Toronto were Leaf fans.

The next time some CBC meat-puppet beaks off about how we Canadians are sooooo superior to those violent Americans, remind him of this.

Post-Stanley-Cup-final Vancouver or post-NBA-final Los Angeles. No difference, really.

I had a feeling that there would be another Vancouver riot whether Vancouver won or lost. In 1994 I braved Robson street after one of the Stanley Cup games and decided the vibes were just too bad, especially at the corner of Robson and Thurlow where it was almost impossible to move in any direction. Coincidentally, that's where the 1994 riot started after game 7.

The night of the 1994 riot I couldn't sleep because of the tear gas drifting into my apartment and so went to St. Pauls ER and helped out to deal with the chaos there. I don't know if Vancouver police are any better now, but they didn't seem to have a clue what to do in 1994. One of their moves was to move simultaneously down Robson from opposite directions telling people to disperse but just squishing the unlucky people who happened to be on that block between 2 lines of riot police. Did a lot of suturing of head lacerations that night.

One of these days the Canucks will win, hopefully in my lifetime. Now just have to figure out what people will occupy themselves with as the hospital where I live almost shuts down during playoff games and hockey seemed to be the main topic of conversation. I don't have CBC broadcast TV and didn't feel like going to the doctors lounge to watch the game tonight.

"I blame the full moon.
And Trojan Horses."

I blame the non-parenting parents who probably should have used Trojan's.
