A brilliant follow-up to yesterday's well discussed posting here on SDA was just published by Kelly McParland in the National Post. He so beautifully destroys the entitlement mentality, selfishness, totalitarian mindset, and hypocrisy that seems ever present in Radical Leftists these days.
Here's a sampling of what should be a Must Read column for all Canadians who don't fully understand the concept of democracy:
Ms. DePape is a recent graduate of the University of Ottawa, that bastion of free speech, where they shout down speakers who hold views they don’t like. She took classes in “international development and globalization,” where they teach you about the West’s cruel failure to adequately support less fortunate nations while plotting ways to exploit their labour. Fair trade coffee is free at the door. They must not have reached the part of the course where they learn about democracy. Or perhaps Ms DePape missed that day, skipping classes to strap herself to the stack of a coal-fired power plant. Democracy is a system in which people get together and vote on who they wish to elect as a government. The party with the most votes wins. Recently, Canada had an election, in which almost 15 million votes were cast for 19 parties, some of which even held views similar to Ms. De Pape’s. The Conservative party won by quite a wide margin. The NDP, a party which considers itself “progressive,” also did quite well.
This afternoon Roy Green spoke with McParland about his column. You can listen to it here.

On CTV's Question Period, Jane Taber says to DePape, "you took an oath ... do you feel badly" about what you did?
DePape responds that she "didn't want to disrespect anybody," that that wasn't her "intention." When Taber points out that she had, in fact, shown disrespect in this situation, DePape justifies it by saying that Harper's agenda is "disrespectful."
Oh boy. This is the train that's coming down the track:
Young dentist: I didn't want or intend to take out the wrong tooth.
Young doctor: I didn't want or intend to take out your pancreas when it should have been your appendix.
Young bus driver: I didn't want or intend to run over your son/daughter when I was travelling 100 kms in the middle of the city.
Why do we keep giving this silly little twat the oxygen of notoriety which she so obviously craves? One and done! Let's move on to something important, folks.
WARNING: Read the comments under the column in the NP only if you want your hair to catch fire.
How long until the first sign generator based on her photo appears somewhere?
She will regret her action then.
Ms DePape's justification of her action, is her opinion, that Harper/CPC is 'harming Canada'. She has no evidence of this; it's just her opinion.
In addition, she posits, without evidence, that the 'majority of Canadians' agree with her ambiguous desires for a 'green economy' (whatever that is), against corporations, something about a 'healthy environment' (what's that?)..all vague, amorphous and empty rhetoric.
Her disrespect is for not only parliament but also for the Canadian people who voted in a particular political party - as their government. The fact that she doesn't like that party is utterly irrelevant.
And the nonsense about '60% didn't vote for Harper' is..nonsense. Over 70% didn't vote for Layton and 80% didn't vote for Ignatieff. How does she deal with these statistics?
Equally, her talk about an 'arab spring' coming here ignores that we have what the arab spring is about: a free economy, a middle class, and democracy. So- what's her problem?
As usual with the left, when you start to pick apart their rhetoric, they have nothing to substantiate those rabid opinions. Just opinions. No grounds to them...
And when it was suggested to her that she was disrespectful of parliament, her justification is that she feels that Harper's agemda is disrespectful? To whom? What's her proof? And does she have any right to disrespect parliament and the voters because she feels this way?
What she needs is for someone to constantly confront her on her opinions and show how they are empty and specious. I'll bet her professors never did this; in many academic circles, all that counts is that you express your opinions. Their validity, their facticity, their logical grounds - are irrelevant in these university courses.
No disrespect intended? LOL, what a complete passive agressive lie!
Disrespect was absolutely the point. It was personal, it was intentional and it was inflammatory (comments re Arab Spring)
Typical, unthinking action and seeks to absolve herself of any sense of personal responsibility.
If we could charge her with a crime, if only to keep her from crossing the border I would be all for it. Saying she is only 21 and not capable of adult thought is a disrespect to every young soldier....consequences please.
I'm glad they're talking about this and not moving on yet, Garth, at least for a little while longer. Little Miss Protestor is in for a little shock when she applies for her next job. "Fired for protesting against the PM in the Senate while on the job as a page? ... we'll call you if something opens up." over and over and over.
She just does not get the big picture. Last Chance U doesn't have a course in civic responsiblity or Loyalty?
SHE does NOT speak for Canadians but for many of the Black Hooded thugs of the G8/G20 - most of whom are anarchists from "away".
But then given her alliances and associations in Ontario (guess she forgot about Manitoba)such behavior is expected.
I can't comment at the NP I sign in and I get booted out, not sure if I've been banned or if the new crowd of newbies had me silenced. Seems like the leftards are organized on the net to go forth and defend her actions.
Why oh why do people keep watching CTV and CBC. Just ignore them. Power and Politics will die a slow lingering death and Solomon will be broadcasting to his mother.
WTF - I totally agree. I never watch either the CBC or CTV. Or take Air Canada!
I watch FOX. Sometimes CNN. And get my Canadian news on the net..picking and choosing sites.
I actually get quite a kick out of the new Sun News channel; they don't take themselves too seriously, they appear to be having fun and they are talking about serious topics that have essentially been banned in the MSM.
She's just a little fool.
Just remember her name and never ever hire her. If you see her serving fries or making coffee leave the store. Boycott this disrespectful twit.
Don't worry, she won't be applying for work in any conservative-dominated companies or enterprises. There will be lots of openings for her, just because the Harper 40% are offended doesn't mean the ass-hat 60% are offended. One or two perhaps, it was the wrong setting even for some who might agree with her message. But I'll bet she's far less black-listed than yours truly in Kanuckistan. If her sign had read "I am a social conservative" then she would really be facing a tough situation in her job search.
I missed yesterdays Little Miss Stop Harper comment thread due to an all day sporting event. Typical Sask Spring day - lilacs in bloom, dandelion fluff blowing in the wind and snow falling gently on your winter parka.
On a related "Stop Harper" theme:
Whenever I hear the name Canada, I go all mushy. Chipmunks capering in suburban gardens; waitresses that sing the word “awesome” every time someone asks for a beer; summer afternoons beside majestic lakes. Could this be the world’s cutest country?
There is one anomaly: a repugnant government. Stephen Harper, its prime minister, has arguably posed a bigger threat to the survival of the human species than his buddy, George W Bush. Though little known over here, Harper should be regarded as an enemy of the European people.

Gee, I wonder where the girl got the idea that Harper Is Pure Evil. She and her peers merely parrot whatever cause is currently fashionable. I doubt if she has an original or deeply explored thought in her pretty little head. Then again, at 21, expectations are quite low these days. True, incurable idiocy is middle-age adults cheering her on like she is some kind of hero.
Favorite posted blog quote from this thread is by blogger, Curious : "Sergeant-at-Arms! Take out the trash" has been archived in by blog quote collection :)
And to all of my beloved Canadian conservative compatriots when encountering the likes of Ms Wednesday in the future in her anticipated new occupation -- and it's time to alter an old SDA quote....
Q: How do you get a U of Ottawa graduate off of your porch?
A: Pay em for the pizza!
This stunt re-affirmed one thing only-NEVER hire a UofZero graduate.
When a graduate cannot even cut-out a decent octagon (roughly a kindergarten skill) I know everything I need to know about that persons "skills".
test 1,2,3.
foobert: 3,2,1
@ LC Bennett: They miss W.
Heather Malice of The Star has weighed in. Sort of. I can't really make any sense of it. Stolen from BlazingCatFur.

whats the liklihood that ms. depape was faithfully spouting the line that Parliament decides who the PM is a few months ago?
I know its too much to expect consitency but that would mean she would need to accept that the 308 elections we just conducted and that the result of those elections are that those individuals agreed to support Mr. Harper as first minister.
Just more proof that her objection is no deeper than she didnt get the result SHE wanted.
PS. I wonder how her Dad voted, since that is who she seems to have trouble with. Ms Depape's Daddy issues can be worked out on someone else's dime.
Rose,I could not get on NP to comment either.and I have been relatively sane in my previous comments.
I wonder how little Briggey would respond to a coalition between the NDP's and libs if they had enough seats, but did not have 50% of the elgible voters on their(her)side?
I suspect the only wailing coming from her then would be when she was performing her ghastly skits.
True, Bull, without GWB US progressives seem slightly disorientated and are now beginning to fire on Obama. Creating a new Dr.Evil should be priority #1 for them.
Meanwhile Canadians, outside of Que, seem quite content with Harper. Only the PPG and universities are coming across as hostile, fearful nutters. Almost every MSM "expert" critical of PMSH is a prof (who, IMO, are only slightly better than journalist's anonymous sources).
I wonder if she even voted.
pkuster, nice one.
Clueless little brat. The real world is eagerly waiting for your arrival and it will eat you up and spit you out.
pkuster beat me to it.
All of the above. She is of the same political persuasion as Heather Malice, Hugo Chavez et al.
I was going to write what I really think of her, but Kate says "Profanity is discouraged". Something to do with her gender in the animal kingdom.
She has been brainwashed by the educational system. See the latest thread by Robert at 6:28.
I concur with pkusker, the smug 'I will show up in my two braids like a little school kid (aka 1914) and look shoddy (but know that I am a Cinderella when I clean up) and score a point for myself by being a heroic wee girlie fighting like hell'. What a stupid, stupid woman - my grandmother had 4 children, a husband and her own grandad to care for at the age of this woman. Cutesy woosty her - she flounced out there in her horrid black hose, sloppy, greasy looking pigtails and unpressed uniform; and made a complete fool of herself..she certainly did not affect me! She is a public servant and she insulted all Canadians by suggesting that the Canadian Prime Minister should be prevented from doing the job the Canadian people asked him to do...she is not fit to scrub our floors.
Right you are, Curious; "Sergeant-at-Arms! Take out the trash"
The boorish dame had the gall to say she didn't mean to offend anyone, yeah, well with that statement she not only offended and disrespected our Parliament, she insulted our intelligence.
I think that employers looking to hire university graduates would do well to screen out anyone with a degree from the University of Ottawa. Seems the place is a bit of a cesspool. Shouldn't surprise anyone though given the head honcho there is the idiot, Allan Rock.
[This stunt re-affirmed one thing only-NEVER hire a UofZero graduate.
Cascadian
It is odd that the U of O is not protecting thier Hallmark....Normally the MSN would protect the University until they had a chance to respond knowing that innocent Grads will be harmed. It's that sound of shredders eating Employement Applications of U of O Grad's, or the poor bugger
that works hard for >15 years and is never promoted...Not fair but true...
The twit is just a silly twit! The folks that hire her will deserve the target the earn..
The girl is misguided for sure....Ok, she had a stop sign placard that said "Stop Harper". How far away is that from a gun in her hand and "Stop Harper"....Just saying.....Where was security...I know she was a Page and trusted but I ask again, where was Security....
Given the chance, she likely would have voted more than once.
First at her loonieversity, then at her non gender specific parenting unit's residence, then at her other non gender specific parenting unit's riding, etc, etc.
And she would have felt totally 100% justified in her fraud, after all she thinks she is on the side of the angels (in a fashion...)
Her courage and bravery would have been unquestionable if she'd dowsed herself in petrol and set herself ablaze. That always commands attention. Just maybe people would see her insight as to the plight about which she protests. What about that Sop Sign though...should it not have been in both official languages?
