Palin grappled frequently with the minutiae of expense reports and bristled at rules forbidding state payment for travel for her children. She complained that the day her son, Trig, was born in 2008 should have been counted as a workday because she did some state business from the hospital. “April 18, the day he was born, I signed a bill into law and conducted a few State actions (and that should be recorded for the record),” she wrote.
The former governor’s reliance on her husband for counsel while governing the state is well known; Todd Palin played a key role in helping organize the controversial ouster of Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan in September 2008, for example.
In a March 2008 e-mail, Sarah Palin makes clear that Todd also weighed in on how to deal with Alaska’s burgeoning wolf population, a topic of debate at the time among officials and environmental experts. The governor told her fish and game commissioner in blunt terms that she opposed using state helicopters to hunt wolves and preferred paying private hunters.
More from Politico. "It'll be good for her."
The real embarrassment "... is that major newspapers like the Times and the Post don't seem to have the resources to review a few boxes of emails to determine whether there is anything there of interest. Otherwise, why would they solicit help from hundreds of readers? In my business, litigation, it is not unusual for parties to produce tens of millions of documents. A production of 13,000 emails would be considered minuscule."
Not so fast, teabaggers! What these emails really show is how Sarah Palin morphed from popular, charismatic, competent woman of the people into a brittle, paranoid, media-whore!

Kate's one-liners rule !!
One has to be born with this talent, it cannot be learned.
Todd as adviser? How scandalous.
The MSM should heap criticism on the two of them in equal measure to their attention to Hillary and Bill.
Everything you need to know is in the last paragraph:
"(Robert) O’Harrow reported from Juneau, Alaska. Staff writers Rachel Weiner in Juneau and Aaron Blake, David A. Fahrenthold, T.W. Farnam, Nia-Malika Henderson, Carol Leonnig, R. Jeffrey Smith and Sandhya Somashekhar and news researchers Alice Crites and Lucy Shackelford contributed to this report."
Is this the same team that investigated the climategate emails? Oh, wait....
"Media froth"
From one of their own, a mainstream media member, a frother.
I'll repost this one since this stream is a little more current.
Palin's handling of the MSM on this one reminds me of my youth and the story of Brer Rabbit when caught by Brer Bear -- "Please, oh please don't throw me in the briar patch. Yes skin me, cook me, chop me into stew but please, oh please don't throw me in the briar patch." Needless to say Brer Bear proceeds to throw Brer Rabbit into the briar patch -- where Brer Rabbit is perfectly content and at home. Likewise Palin, "You've got those e-mails, oh really, you shouldn't go digging all through them. Call me what you will, but please, oh please don't make a big story of those e-mails." And like the predictable morons that they are . . .
The CBS fine young TV announcer says (with of course the "I'm not the biggest Palin fan" caveat) that the media dirt digging experiment is a "little creepy and.....silly".
Do ya think?
Even when they say the right thing, they're still unwatchable and unlistenable. Since FoxNews and SunNews, I had forgotten that CBS, (heavy on the BS), even existed.
When Bill Clinton was elected, we were told (and I believed) that Hillary would be an asset. We were sold a two-for-one package deal.
Apparently, the liberal media have completely forgotten that.
Those Post and Times "professionals" should be chained to trees in distant forests doe all the paper they used for this pathetic stunt.
Those Post and Times "professionals" should be chained to trees in distant forests for all the paper wasted on this pathetic stunt
Just like with Harper the lamestream hatred will only serve to advance her cause. It's like throwing gasoline on the fire.
The popular press must be crawling out of their skin when confronted with the black and white evidence of the mundane affairs over which then-governor Palin presided. It's not good enough for those frothing at the mouth.
Kudos to the lamestream media for showing us that Sarah Palin was hard at work as Governor - including the day she was giving birth - proving that even today she is more qualified to be President than Barack Obama since he's had the job for two years and hasn't learned anything. At least Bill Clinton got learned enough in his first term to get a second, the Obama combines deep incompetence with enormous arrogance.
I'm reading Kate's post, expecting some kind of critical point invalidating the emails...and nothing except a pretty weak deflection. Yeah, the newspapers suck. Been there done that. She's still tried to get the state to pay for her children's travel.
Not so fast, teabaggers! What these emails really show is how Sarah Palin morphed from popular, charismatic, competent woman of the people into a brittle, paranoid, media-whore!
Pretty sure she was always like that she just hid it much better before because there was less attention.
"Not so fast, teabaggers! What these emails really show is how Sarah Palin morphed from popular, charismatic, competent woman of the people into a brittle, paranoid, media-whore!" That maybe not all bad if she is planning a possible political move of some sort or to tick off the liberal media and keep them hopping.
At the same time, can you imagine the media howls of indignation if someone dragged out all the emails Obama has sent during his political career.
Dr.D:
I liked your comment so much I wanted to redirect it to the editors of the New York Times. Although its website didn't seem to have a current comment thread pertaining to the Palin emails, it did invite readers to alert the Times to particularly "juicy" items, so I posted the following:
Palin's handling of the MSM regarding the emails reminds "Dr.D" (of the blog "Small Dead Animals") of the story of Brer Rabbit when caught by Brer Bear:
"Please, oh please don't throw me in the briar patch. Yes, skin me, cook me, chop me into stew but please, oh please don't throw me in the briar patch." Needless to say Brer Bear proceeds to throw Brer Rabbit into the briar patch -- where Brer Rabbit is perfectly content and at home.
Likewise, notes Dr.D, Palin says of the emails: "You've got those e-mails, oh really, you shouldn't go digging all through them. Call me what you will, but please, oh please don't make a big story of those e-mails." And like the predictable morons that they are, NYT editors do all that they can to focus public attention on the (hopefully) damaging emails. All in the public interest of course.
You people, who at the drop of a hat will go on and on about "the McCarthy era", are truly disgusting.
But Sarah Palin is the idiot right?
MSM - spinning on all fours! I like your allegory DrD. Perfect fit for the desperate spitting and hissing of the msm felines desperately attempting to defend their nice comfy fur pad by the fire. When things get rough only the hunter has a fine life; fat, lazy house cats freeze and starve. I hope all the msm are reading sda headers, the 'priceless' is an understatement for your one liners, Kate.
// newspapers like the Times and the Post don't seem to have the resources to review a few boxes of emails to determine whether there is anything there of interest. Otherwise, why would they solicit help from hundreds of readers? //
Why not enlist obsessives for whom nothing is too trivial, instead of reporters?
e.g. from an eager beaver before the release --
// Look for communications around the time of April 10-18, 2008 mentioning a dog or anything that could be code for a transfer of babies. Look for evidence of second baby //
If this has any interest at all, it would be later, if Palin actually puts herself on the electoral line. So the LATimes are creating an archive for future searches. Sort of a down-market wikileaks.

The Journolist and the "unscrutible" followers have assumed their are the Generals in the chaging cultural war.
Like all Generals they are fighting the current war with the last war's thinking. Cheers;
Canadian CTV was also at it again today, first they covered over the unfortunate soon to be forgotten Wiener incident, then followed up immediately with the Palin SCANDLE.
It was hilarious watching the so called report that looked like they were covering an Italian mob syndicate, superimposing flash Palin photo’s over the damning e-mail quotations in block letters. One outrageous e-mail stated that she didn’t want to run for Federal office, but then changed her mind. Oh my god.
Honestly I only turn the garbage on once a day for a few minutes when I eat my lunch. I can’t see my computer from the kitchen. It’s amazing to see the Canadian left propaganda machine in motion once your switched on to their crazy tactics.
Actually I felt pretty good reading the comments. No ones buying this except the die hard Marxists.
As anything but a smear party for someone thy think is crazy & dangerious but can't stop harrasing. A person with no political power at all, at that.
I love the smell of Liberal fear in the morning.

Here's a thought. I wonder what kind of freakin' skeleton farm would be turned up if Barry's email got this kind of "crowd-sourced" colonoscopy? Or how about Joe Bite-me? Can you imagine? Off-the-record comments from The Mellifluous One on his days as a community organizer? Letters to "admirers" when Michelle the Klingon warrior princess was out at batleth practice?
The fact that this many hateful a-holes can hunt this hard for dirt and come up -empty- is probably the best Palin campaign ad ever created.
Thanks Lefties!

Are you able to keep your lunch down?

“Are you able to keep your lunch down?”
Great question!
Years ago the answer was no. I couldn’t grasp the reason why the world seemed so upside down and irrational to my viewpoints watching Canadian media. Then like a light switch I learned that it was purely Leftist propaganda and forced myself to either ignore it or choke it down, which only made me mad 24/7. That of course proved to be unproductive and only ruined my day.
Now I watch in a whole new light, analytically viewing the programs as a combatant watching the enemy’s tactics would, learning from them and fighting against them at every possible turn.
"Honestly I only turn the garbage (i.e. the CTV newscast) on once a day for a few minutes when I eat my lunch."
So how many pounds have you taken off since you began this particular weight loss program? As a follow up: Do you think the lost pounds will stay off by themselves or are you going to have to continue with the CTV treatments for the rest of you life?
I do not know how they do it. Surely the money has long since dried up for newsprint, since many thousands have cancelled their subscriptions because of just this sort of thing. Network TV is in the dumps and going bankrupt. Bailout money must be flowing to these low lifes for them to have the resources for this. I know my money is not paying for it... Oh, wait... my money DOES pay for the likes of the CBC, CTV and other pathetic outlets unable to make it on their own. Until we insist that these outlets and 'journalists' like Heather Mallick, late of the CBC and now writing for questionable sources from over the pond stop using our tax dollars to prop up their vitriol and nasty ways they are going to continue to do this sort of thing. A POX on all of it.
THE day they scour Obama's past like this is the day they will regain a tiny bit of respect. Not until and probably not even then.
I still remember the nonsense out of Katie Couric's mouth about the newspapers Sarah Palin, as Governor of Alaska read. She would not have dared asked such a demeaning question of ANYONE else but the media made hay out of Governor Palin's ANSWER and not the inappropriateness of her question. Yet, when A La Couric asked Joe Biden a question he rambled on in a fantasy of out of time lines and she let it roll out and did not blink an eye at the outrageous ignorance on display ( Herbert Hoover went on Television!)The man is a moron of monumental proportions and the press and media give him a pass. And all the other democrats making fools of themselves and the American People.
I know we conservatives here in Canada are tired of this endless parade of idiots passing for 'intelligent'people while trashing and trying to tear down decent, intelligent and capable people who can and do govern. States as well as companies. They could do a whole lot better with these idiots out of the way. From PM Harper to Sarah Palin, the real doers of this world need this trash out of the way and the sooner the better. A good start is a bonfire out of those 24,000 e-mails from Palin's Governor's office. Also anything the dems in Wisconsin have to say or try to do to ruin the duly elected legislature in Wisconsin and the Governor's office.
"These seem to signify that she spent 38 digital pages a day communicating with others over electronic lines. But was there even a chance that within these e-mails someone, somewhere, would find an explosive statement that would, say, change world politics, world economics, even world gossip?
Perhaps some speck of gold will still be found, as the electronic analysis continues through live blogs and even crowdsourcing."

I don't care about Sara, she can take care of herself, but my contempt and disgust at Liberal Media has apexed. They couldn't spare ten minutes to vette the worst president on the US but are spending thousands of hours going through Palin's Emails. That's what the leftwing retarded zealots ala Media have devolved into, muck raking hoes of the nastyest order. I hope it whips around and financially ruins any venue who partakes of this paper witch-hunt.
The media should demand that SP pay them, after all she has been living rent free in their heads for the last two years.
I'm still waiting for those emails where she sends explicit pictures to little boys. Oh wait sorry she's not a democrat. Hey where's the weiner email investigation anyway?
So now the story is that Palin WAS good until but started to morph into something "gleefully antagonistic", "polarizing", full of "subterfuge to manipulate her image... paranoia and belligerence"? If so, how come they never reported any of that good Palin back when it was true?
Oh, the bast part is where they complain about "paranoia" and cite a time when Palin was worried her computer had been hacked.
Palin WAS hacked!
so what's sarah's view of paul revere now?
