Free Geert Wilders!

Sanity prevails;

Dutch populist politician Geert Wilders was acquitted of inciting hatred of Muslims in a court ruling on Thursday that may strengthen his political influence and exacerbate tensions over immigration policy.

[...]

The Amsterdam court had used a Supreme Court ruling -- that an offensive statement about someone's religion was not a criminal offence -- as the basis of its decision, leading to acquittal, the judge said.

Unusually, the prosecution team had also asked for an acquittal, arguing that politicians have the right to comment on problem issues and that Wilders was not trying to foment violence or division.

More like the socialist apparatchiki blinked. Wilders could very well have a majority or controling minority in the next Dutch parliament, I bet these judges didn't want to p1ss him off. Bad career move, right?

So here's what he needs to do once he's PM. First nationalize UK firms operating in the Netherlands, and sell them to the US at bargain basement prices. Works on so many levels:

(a) Teach the Brits to think twice about banning an elected MP in an EU country from entering the UK, (b) help defray the costs of his legal defence, and (c) give the Yanks a bit more compensation for Deep Water Horizon!

Like I said, this works on so many deliciously ironic levels!

Then he needs to get serious about hauling all these criminal judges and prosecutors up on charges of corrupting justice.

Good for Geert Wilders.

The very first thing he should do when he becomes Dutch Prime Minister is moon the Brits from the beach at The Hague.

I know an old guy is not supposed to talk like that, but I could help myself as I am so tired of the socialist politicians brown-nosing those who would destroy our civilization.

Here's Mark Steyn's take on the Geert Wilders acquittal.

I don't think the roo judges had a choice, the public backlash would of destroyed leftwing political parties for decades. They crossed the line persecuting him, those that persued him should be disbarred in my opinion.

Howcome I think Babs Hall is bawling in her beer right about now?

Very good news. I saw him being interviewed by Ezra Levant on SunTVNews. He just tells it like it IS.

"The presiding judge said Wilders's remarks were sometimes "hurtful," "shocking" or "offensive," but that they were made in the context of a public debate about Muslim integration and multi-culturalism, and therefore not a criminal act."

Or

"Once we lawyerspeak the definition of "context" a half a notch and nobody's looking, you're dead, you "f"n punk"
"DEAD!"

"Unusually, the prosecution team had also asked for an acquittal, arguing that politicians have the right to comment on problem issues..."

Oh. What about the rest of us?

Well of course Babs Hall and her ilk are crying in their beer...they want all the mob to become 'genteel barbarians'!

The false 'cri de coeur' of discrimination against Muslims as opposed to Islam, is only that their identity GROUP has been offended.

This is no different than Emperor Diocletian decreeing "Christians to the lions!" because Roman barbarian sensibilities were 'offended'.

Now the Islam identity group is going the the UN "Human Rights Commission" to complain that Geert offended them!

Well of course, because the very existence of Israel 'offends' the sensibilities of UN 'Human Rights Commission' cue Durban III, Durban IV, etc.....

Maybe all these UN Human Rights Commission defilers need to have a good cry in their beer somewhere in Munich...

But you can't tell Muslim totalitarians to go to a beer hall because drinking alcohol may 'offend' that GROUP!! In short, teetotalers should not be found in beer halls they should stay at home.

Now that all the lawyers have got paid, I will raise a glass to not FREE but rather EXPENSIVE SPEECH!!

Bring on the wedding at Cana...or was that Canada!?!

I mean really, why would one FOMENT violence and division when you can FERMENT instead?

@Ken Kulak: That may be interpreted as giving the Brits the 'crescent moon'! :)

This isn't over yet,the "victims" are going to the UN,and we all know how fair and unbiased they are!

@Ken - do you mean "Bench"?

Me, I'm somewhat disappointed/surprised that the French have not reacted institutionally/popularly against the "yuts" burning cars...or the Swedes/Danes tolerating islamic rape gangs colonizing their cities.

Thank God for some good news for once.

The LS, no, I figured from the shore of the North Sea.

Black Mamba

You know the peasents should shut up. They are only alive to serve their betters.

Unfortunately for Mr. Wilders, the acquittal he was handed may very well turn out to be a death sentence from representatives of the 'religion of peace' as has been previously meted out worldwide.

Geert Wilders acquitted-Reuters in mourning

What a nasty, dishonest, condescending piece of faux journalism!

What I've never understood is why it's considered "right wing" to speak out against criminal immigrants whereas the linkage between islam and the Nazi's in WWII is well known.

Perhaps the MSM has finally clued in that National Socialists were left wing /sarc

The most hilarious piece of the article was:
Minorities groups said they would now take the case to the United Nations Human Rights Committee, arguing the ruling meant the Netherlands had failed to protect ethnic minorities from discrimination.

Yes, the UN will show those intolerant Dutch, especially the representatives from the tolerant and inclusive countries of Libya, Syria and Iran which are on the "human rights" committee of the UN. This committee must be really busy now dealing with protecting the Egyptian Christian minority from prosecution now and I'm sure we'll see blue-helmeted "peacekeepers" standing guard in front of Egyptian churches any time now.

Black Mamba, if enough of us start speaking up there aren't enough HRC's in the country to stop the spread of the truth.

"Unusually, the prosecution team had also asked for an acquittal, arguing that politicians have the right to comment on problem issues..."

Excellent point Black Mamba; notice that the judge's decision also included the fact Wilders is a politician which leads me to believe that both the prosecution, the judge, and perhaps the defense team opted for a damage control strategy to allow Wilders to be acquitted whilst simultaneously avoiding both internal political mayhem and setting a precedent that the general population could use in pending or future cases involving Islam and hate speech. I call this a partial, yet important victory.

One of the best overviews of wht is viewed as at stake.

This article clearly points out the great divide between the Right and the Left not only in the EU but here at home.
