The Decline And Fall Of The American Empire

There were 93,420 pumped-up fans at the Rose Bowl, and the best guess is at least 80 percent were there to cheer for Mexico.

It's probably nothing.

California. The new song. Mexican Deaming.

You would think displays like this wouldwake the populace up to their takeover or invasion. You would be wrong. Wishful thinking. Calafornia in its multicult madness exists no more. Its a dream that died from over stimulation of marxisn to hippydom.
Now the crop is in. Califoria is on its way out.

Soccer sucks! Soccer fans suck!

How's that for pithy?

Football (aka soccer) is the greatest sport on earth, just accept it.

And, as an immigrant, to cheer for the old home country is perfectly normal. I have found that immigrants generally become even more nationalistic re: things like sports, food, and traditions, once in their new country. Certainly doesn't mean they're bad citizens (of the new country).

"Certainly doesn't mean they're bad citizens "

Doesn't make it look like you are when you cheer for the old country over the new country.

If the old country is so good, why come here?

Why not go back?

Johan:

Reread the post...if you have to mouth the words; that's ok.

"Certainly doesn't mean they're bad citizens (of the new country)."

Not bad, I suppose, but not the same. It means there are two kinds of citizens: people with their hearts somewhere else in some dumpy hellhole they ran from, and those of us whose hearts are 100 percent here in the land of our birth. You likely find that offensive, frankly, I don't care. You said it, I just pointed out what it really means.
As for soccer being the "greatest sport on earth" - it's likely the most popular because it can be played by people in the third world who only have a ball and a patch of dirt. Good for them, but it doesn't mean it's a great sport. Frankly, it's slow, dull and played by pussies.

A quaint minority pulling for "the old country" is one thing, this is quite another. I'm pretty liberal when it comes to these things but still say, "Deport all soccer fans!" ;)

Apparently the entire end-of-game ceremonies were performed solely in Spanish. You're right though, I'm sure it's nothing.

If you did not earn something from your own sweat; chances are you will not truly appreciate it as much.

Can this apply to "immigration" too?

Anyway, I am not surprised. Obama is doing a fine job in portraying America as the symbol of everything that's wrong in the world, the same song Hollywood and the legions of influencial lefties have been doing for decades...So no shame in anti Patriotic acts like booing the National anthem of one's own Country, never mind that it would be ultra classless to boo the rival Country's Anthem also.

BTW, I vote for Joseph McCarthy head to be the next "shovel ready" gov project on Mt.Rushmore...If the Republic is reclaimed of course...The guy is a forgotten National hero IMO.

A purely philosophical question: How many of these citizens (of their new country) were actually legal? Perhaps they were all cheering for "their" actual country.

Given the current economic state of California, might this not be a good time to give it back to Mexico?

Then the Mexicans can cheer for their team without guilt, not that they felt any.

Mexico would inherit the wind farms and become a world economic leader selling the power to the U.S.,and the drug lords wouldn't have to sell dope anymore thanks to the new prosperity!

Well, that's all for now, I'm off to join PETA,Greenpeace, and the NDP.

I suspect that ICE fumbled the best opportunity in decades.....using "possum belly" livestock trucks.

Multicultural enrichment, what a blast, are you feeling it? I’m feeling it.

Revnant Dream> - “California in its multicult madness exists no more”

It’s funny though that many people seem to think that California is where it ends. The entire US will be dominated by hate filled Mexicans with a chip on their shoulders before too long. As far as Canada is concerned, we are one more large open border a little further north with better benefits to parasite and more draconian laws to prevent anyone speaking out about it.

They will be coming; in fact we are already seeing disproportionately large Latino communities forming in Alberta in recent years. MS-13 has already been spotted in Calgary and their numbers are expected to grow.

For those that don’t know who MS13 is do some easy research and see how they now plague every US state, and are now becoming a problem in Canada.

"Ask not what your country can BOO for you. Ask what you can BOO for your country."

should have surrounded them with Canuck fans shouting

"remember the Rose Bowl!!!"

These weren't Mexicans. They're a bunch of loser "Chicano" punks who lost their Mexican culture (which is traditionally polite) at least a generation ago. They can't even speak Spanish anymore, their Tex-Mex "Spanglish" is laughable to people from Mexico and Latin America.

If they pulled a stunt like that at a soccer match in Latin America, they would be lucky to escape with their lives. I've seen it happen before and you simply don't insult the opposing team's National flag unless you're itching for a serious beating, want to get shot or start a war between the two countries!

Soccer? Feh!
The CBC must be involved somehow.

RHTT:

Joe McCarthy?! Are you freakin' serious? This is the man who said "I have no evidence that this man is a Communist, but I don't have any evidence that he isn't", and used that dubious logic to slur a completely innocent man?

I like to think of myself as a principled conservative, and as one who celebrates what "liberal" used to mean, before it was co-opted by a bunch of fascists. It pains me when people who support myopic, thuggish pea-brains like McCarthy claim they are "conservative". Find a different label, please.

I get it, but I'm kinda "meh" about it in a way.

Going to a Stamps vs Riders game is like being in Saskatchewan sometimes.

But yeah, I know I know, nations, provinces, etc, and in the hearts of Calgarians we are mostly Canadian etc.

Soccer in North America is a 'game' played by girls, pre-pubescent boys and unassimilated third world immigrants.
If I ever decided to commit suicide, I would attend a soccer game and die of boredom.

They say the only way for USA-Mexico not to be a Mexican home game is to play it somewhere totally neutral, like South Korea.

I wonder who would have home field advantage if the game were in Anchorage or Winnipeg...

Sports fans can be so ugly.

"They're a bunch of loser "Chicano" punks..."

That’s who I’m talking about; the term “Mexican’s” is a loose misused term, most probably because it’s the gateway for all the bad that pours across that border.

Aside from the “Chicano punks”, MS-13 and the petty street gangs, it’s also the supremacist racist hate groups like La Raza and Aztlan who are plaguing the US south, spreading northwards.

The point of the soccer match article is proof of the fan base demographic, not unlike the Vancouver riot fan base which is primarily a Liberal left demographic.

Reminds me of all the Roughriders fans in Alberta. They're everywhere, flying green flags on their cars, wearing green and white T-shirts, sporting Roughrider license plates. I know a couple of oilfield supervisors who have Roughrider tattoos, and paint their faces green on game days. I don't know a single person who moved from SK to AB, who isn't obsessed with the Roughriders. Young, old, male, female, they all take football way too seriously, and Saskatchewan's team to extremes.

Aren't we supposed to be living in a global village. ;-)

Knight 99,

Yep, I think "MS-13" is mostly a "children of immigrants" phenomenon -- born on the streets of the U.S., then actually re-exported back to places like El Salvador, etc.

The "MS" stands for "Mara Salvatrucha" which was originally the traditional Central American "mafia". But it was never anything like the real Mafia -- it was very small and poor, just a bunch of old fart small-time criminals from the poor barrios. "Mara Salvatrucha" literally means the "Save the small business gang". It grew into the bastardized "MS-13" youth gang in the U.S. southwest where it took on its current mythological proportions.

"Fans" watch the Olympics and Stanley Cup.
"Sports Fans" watch football.
Notice the difference?

"If the old country is so good, why come here?"

Perhaps because of a good job? Perhaps because they could beat the competition?

What do you think?

So what if they cheer for a different team? America needs all the immigrants it can get. We all do.

Yeah keep taking hits off that crack pipe of self-delusion.

Libertariansaresmarter..then I guess you have no problem if we ditch the importation of third world parasites and Islamists and go back to the model of importing our talent from the UK again?

We took the term "football" when we saved Europe. Remember WW2? That was our price!

Seriously though, I enjoy soccer, as I've watched it(along with all other sports) most of my life.

Soccer is a great sport, but not the greatest. In a purely analytical fashion, it's quite easy to demonstrate that there are more exciting(hockey, basketball, boxing), more sophisticated(baseball, football). Soccer is a "beautiful game" because of its simplicity and it's accessibility. On those measures, Soccer is the best.JMO

I typically throw out the "soccer sucks" bait to see how the fishing is. You bit, just as a good soccer fan always does. I take great humor at the soccer fans insecurity regarding this topic. In fact, the soccer fan is akin to the CFL fan in this very way. All I must say is "the CFL sucks" and watch-out for exploding (water)melons.

Try it Johan(either or), you'll see what I mean.

Who can ever forget that magical night in Toronto when the Canadian mens basketball team was booed out of Maple Leaf Gardens by 'Greek Canadians' during the World Basketball Championship?

The mens team has vowed to never play in Toronto again because no matter who they play against, they are the visitors, with no home field advantage.

Same goes for soccer to a lesser degree..the 'good sport' Canadians now schedule friendlies in November in the prairies after one too many times getting stuck with brutal matches, such as when Mexico schedules them to play at the height of summer, at altitude, in Azteca Stadium.

@Kursk: if they aren't terrorists, criminals, or dangerously infections, there's not good reason to keep them out. Anything else is BS xenophobia.

I think Canadians better damn well learn to be a bit more xenophobic and discriminating when it comes to our own survival.

We have to learn that we can just say no.

Just because you want to come, doesn't mean we have to let you in...

libertariansaresmarter >

"if they aren't terrorists, criminals, or dangerously infections, there's not good reason to keep them out"

Then you’re obviously FOR closing and protecting the southern US border properly to prevent exactly that!

Precisely what everyone else with a brain has been demanding all along.

No, I'm not. That's stupid. All serious data on the matter shows that immigration may actually lower crime. The 'immigrants are criminals' meme never made any sense. They're coming over here to make money not start trouble. To the extent that there are border problems, it's a result of drug prohibition.

I know your just piss’n with SDA commenter’s when you type, because no one could actually write the things you do or argue every point regardless of substance without being a drooling patient stealing time on the doctor’s computer.

Anyway for anyone else interested there are lots of references to research open borders and infectious diseases from these links. Crime and terrorism are complete no brainers and volumes can be found on them.

As you can see from above the modern soccer ball has changed significantly over the years. In the past people used to use human heads, stitched up cloth, animal and human skulls to pig or cow bladders as a soccer ball.

http://students.cis.uab.edu/archived/ram89/The%20History.html

Since many years soccer has been a passion for many. South American Indians were conversant with a light elasticized ball. In early times, balls were made of stitched up cloth, animal and human skulls, pig or cow bladders or human heads. In the Ts'in and Han Dynasties, animal skin balls were used. As per pre-medieval legend, a whole village would kick a skull to a closeby village square. This village would try to kick it back to the first village square.

The sscots used to have a good game after a slaughter. Human trunks for posts the heads as balls.

Interesting. Reminds me of this French 1959 Vs 2008 Photo comparison:

http://lingkunganhijau.blogspot.com/2008/05/french-soccer-team-and-climate-change.html

Me I'll stick to hockey, for now.

Americans just do *not* care about soccer. Not in the same way they care about the NFL, Major League Baseball, the NBA, NASCAR, College Football, High School Football, and Pop Warner Football. I bet that even the NHL motivates more Americans than soccer.

So what happens when the powers-that-be try to foist soccer on Americans? The fans from other countries buy up the tickets and cheer for their own countries, because soccer is their number 1 sport. They're rabid about it, just like Americans are rabid about certain other sports.

Nothing against soccer, it just isn't as popular in the U.S..

Why is anyone surprised?

"Joe McCarthy?! Are you freakin' serious? This is the man who said "I have no evidence that this man is a Communist, but I don't have any evidence that he isn't", and used that dubious logic to slur a completely innocent man?"

One mistake, one moment of weakness and the whole mission is aborted...Tell me who won?
You watch too many PBS shows.

Tell me Kev, with the way the left has progressed and have all but overtaken pop culture and the medias of information since the 1950's when McCarthy was in full swing; do you think the man was at least on to something?
Yes I deplore the injustices but maybe if we Right wingers would be more 'stubborn' like the left are with their ideology it might not be too late today.
Because it is simply too f#%^k late now.

And by the way, Right wing does not equate to perfection...Leave that to God. Lincoln, Washington busts would not be carved in Mt. Rushmore because I'm sure history has some unsavory moments these imperfect humans committed during their tenure too.
