  1. Yes, you can find a lot of things by cherry-picking comments by assholes. Of both sides.

  2. The Lefties that I like are the ones that refer to Conservatives supporters as stupid.
Sticks and stones baby…Sticks and stones.
Just keep operating in that intellectual vaccuum.
Meanwhile, this stupid Conservative will just work hard to get my first term
    M. P. Stephen Woodworth re-elected.

  3. As much as I enjoy Kate and Kathy Shaidle’s wit and feisty political opinions, and as much as I agree with them, I do cringe everytime I see a heading such as, “Where’s an avalanche when we need one” (in reference to Trudeau’s sons — it’s mocking a tragic loss of a son).
Extreme rhetoric — we do it too, people. I’m not advocating curbing free speech or caving in to wimpitude and political correctness; I’m saying let’s not leave ourselves open to the charge of hypocrisy by constantly freaking out at leftist rhetoric.

  4. ann:
“Where’s an avalanche when we need one” (in reference to Trudeau’s sons”.
    PET Cemetery Report.
    Pour it on. More, please.

  5. I am still confident that harper will get a majority govornment i really can’t hammer down any real big major thing he has done wrong .
By all means folks point out some of his shortcomming’s/flaws but to me the only one that i am alittle ticked off about is the long gun registry. but with a majority it will fly through so let’s give him his majority.
I trust harper ,he has kept our ship from sinking , and actually we faired among the top ten economies in the world through all of the crisis and yesi know strick banking regulations helped with that but he still made a differentce.
I would like to hear all of the critisims about the conservative minority govornemnt please share , i will still vote conservative as will abunch of my liberal freinds now . but i still vote and so do they.
THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR NOT VOTING,VOTER APATHY IS UNACCEPTABLE .

  6. I reported abuse on that comment last night.
I cannot believe it is still “up”. I would say it is a hate speech.

  7. ahead 19% in the polls so we can expect more eruptions of Liberal/Dipper tolerance, intelligence and moderation.
It should be very entertaining for us.

  8. Contrary to popular belief, Nazi Germany was not Right Wing, it was left wing: The National Socialist Party.
Hate was very fashionable in the Third Reich.
The saying that makes me cringe the most these days is:
“History always repeats itself twice: first time as tragedy, second time as farce.”
Who’s quote is this you ask?: Karl Marx
    ‘Nuff said.

  9. “Yes, you can find a lot of things by cherry-picking comments by assholes. Of both sides.”
    – Andrew
That statement is a form of cop out. In my experience comments such as the one above from the G&M are *far* more frequent coming from the left than the right.
Compare for example what was written and said about George Bush vs. Obama. Chalk and cheese.
The left is generally full of hatred. The right on the other hand is generally optimistic, and almost always has a better sense of humour.

  10. The election hasn’t even been called and already the number one cheerleader is implementing the narrative.
It goes like this, “Harper untrustworthy” (with a hidden agenda and contemptuous of parliament), build to “only way to stop him is to have coalition of the opposition”, build to a “call for the opposition to form a coalition” to form a government only because we need to prevent the great Canadian Satan from continuing to lead Canada.
The proof of the need for this solution is “It is not the politicians calling for this, it is the people of Canada because Harper is evil and untrustworthy and hoodwinking the wresting watching, trailer trash, uneducated, unwashed portion of the Canadian population. It is up to us the elite to lead the rest of Canadians to unite against the untrustworth one.”
You think the MSM was irresponsible in the last US Presidential election. I predict “You ain’t seen nothing yet!”
I hope the Sun News TV gets up and running soon. This can be their defining moment.

  11. I am really looking forward to the epidemic of acid indigestion on the left when the dust settles on Harper’s new majority government. Perhaps then I will be able to buy a shot-gun without having to submit to a rectal exam and a blood test.

  12. Just in case there were any doubt of the Globe’s censors’ approval, one of the REPLIES to that comment was removed.

  13. Ahem, trust in the Conservatives may be down from a year ago, but it’s much worse for the Liberals. Trusting less than a year ago is part of our ongoing aging process. The 6% that trust Conservatives more is significantly huge and will propel the Conservatives to majority.
Here’s the poll that sees the forest and the trees (excerpt from Ottawa Citizen):
28 per cent of Canadians believe the Conservatives, if reelected, would do the best job of “providing honest, open and trustworthy government.”
22 per cent believe the NDP would do the best job of this.
Just 15 per cent say the Liberals would be best at providing honest, open and trustworthy government.
Seven per cent say the Bloc would be best.
29 per cent don’t endorse any of the major parties as best to deliver this type of government.
Ipsos Reid president Darrell Bricker said the poll shows the Liberals were right to identify the correct issue for the campaign, but apparently neglected to ensure it would be a political winner for them.

  14. Standard fare for the snotty elitist “Friends of the CBC”. What is really disgusting is the comments are moderated and approved by a CBC moderator paid with our tax money. Do the Conservatives really think they will get some votes by giving the Communist Broadcasting Cesspool an additional 60 million a year over and above the billion plus they get now. Totally disgusting!

  15. I’m an equal opportunity hater.
I’d like to see a lot of heads on Pikes.
But Harper, it’s just so hard to hate him that much, I mean seriously, has he done anything worth hating?

  16. Oops, I never looked at the link, but the comment is just another cut and paste the lefty’s use constantly at the CBC and the G&M. There are one and the same.

  17. “Seven per cent say the Bloc would be best.”
Here’s a perfect example of why polls are absolutely useless.
The Bloc runs candidates in only one province. The Bloc is committed to Quebec separation and makes no bones about it.
Yet 7% feel that they could do the best job running the country?

  18. I’ve known that the left is somehow backward, however not to that extent. Who would thought they are chasing medieval dreams? Down to dungeon with them!

You had to submit to a rectal exam?
    Seriously?

  20. I have a very simple Internet policy: I never say anything online that I wouldn’t be willing to say to someone’s face.
As I am a coward, this keeps me polite. 🙂

  21. I posted this reply to the G&M comment just now:
I cannot imagine the Globe and Mail letting this comment stand if it had been made about Mr. Ignatieff or Mr. Layton. This is offensive. And all you push-button jockeys smirking and admiring yourselves for your outspokenness. How brave!
Hey. How about I call for your beheading. Let’s have your rotting carcass hanging where your children and loved ones can view its decomposition. Pretty disgusting comment isn’t it? Let’s see how long my comment stands. If they take down mine, they should take down yours.

  22. Ann at 10:52 (As much as I enjoy Kate and Kathy Shaidle’s wit and feisty political opinions, and as much as I agree with them, I do cringe everytime I see a heading such as, “Where’s an avalanche when we need one” (in reference to Trudeau’s sons — it’s mocking a tragic loss of a son). )
    I agree with you.

  23. This clown, Return of the Son of Bubble, is well known at the Globe and Mail forum. He is a completely wacked out leftist loon. Usually posts under a whole bunch of other names as well.

  24. Thanks Kate; you just have to keep this up for 40 days to root out this nest of vipers. Harper has done a great job while walking in between these twpits of snakes, the Toronto media and the theiving Liberals. Lets all get together and show Canada that the MSM only speaks for downtown Toronto, lets go “Two for Two” first Ford and a resounding Harper majority to stuff down Andrew Coynes throat, Oh my I’m being a leftie/intolerant I must stop.

  25. Re: political discourse
We have bigger things to worry about and police ourselves for than “civility”, which is a non-issue like “racism.”
For instance: hero worship. Conservatives are just as prone to it as liberals, and creating political personality cults is a time wasting distraction, as well as a recipe for disillusionment.
Other things we need to worry about include focusing on one a blogger’s tasteless headlines (which naturally you are free not to read any longer) vs. the wholesale destruction of the country by those in power.
Mischief and tastelessness and rudeness WORK. That is how the Left seized control of the culture. That’s what they don’t want us to know, and that’s why they’ve belatedly launched the “civility wars.”
Don’t get sucked in or accept their premises.

  26. But wait doesn’t Prime Minister Stephen “William Wallace” Harper get hung, drawn and quartered first?
The poster is spouting looney tune fantasies, bring on the psyche ward nurses and give this poster boy for political crankiness, the medication they truly need.
    Cheers

  27. Getting upset over that is just as funny as beagle and alex twisting their knickers over SDA…

  28. I’m sure Pierre’s one real regret is that he didn’t live long enough to taste the full bouquet of his mischievious deeds.
Pierre never grew up in my opinion and once in power misunderstood the honour that came with the office.
The ‘little boy’ trickster that lurked within his vying for attention mind took over and the wings on flies started dropping.
We can now only look forward to much time and wasted energy cleaning up the sandbox of turds, that Liberalism has left us in hopes that Canada will be a fit place for our grandkids.

  29. Kathy Shaidle
I must agree…there is merit to getting in some-one face.
Godwin’s Law was invented by a lefty to avoid the obvious….that the Nazi’s are lefties and that lefties conduct themselve like Nazi’s.
It’s sad how much like the US Republican’s allow the democrats to chose their candidates….conservatives allow the left to define the agenda…and double standard rules.
    Stephen J.
Cowards have a lousy survival/success rate. I won’t post anything online or behind somebody’s back that I wouldn’t say to their face…..but find this is not constraining at all.
I have however found that face to face my critics keep it civil……I guess they look into my eyes and have no interest in the consequences of being un-civil…..to me.

  30. “The poster is spouting looney tune fantasies”
I don’t think we should get too worked up over such a tasteless post from an obviously deranged individual. When he’s not spouting hatred, he’s probably occupying his time pulling wings off flies or setting fire to stray cats. Not unlike the troll/dimwits that frequent this sight, if faced with utter disregard, they usually slink away, albeit temporarily.

  31. They sound almost as pathetically desperate as heather malik did in the weeks leading up to Rob Ford’s Landslide.

  32. Thanks for the google suggestion, Kate.
Dan Turner, of course, being part of that journo-listic morally superior media mass, walked into it.
Hope he wears it well today.

Yep, we are dumbing down fast…No wonder the left is getting more and more powerful.
Anyway, if you want a good chuckle, pick up the comedy movie “Idiocracy” from 2006…It’s about America in the year 2505. The President’s name is: “Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho” to give you an idea on how things have deteriorated.
    Here’s the trailer:

  34. Actually, you can look through his history of comments, and a lot of them are even worse.
The odd part is that about half of his comments have been removed because they are ‘abusive’.
Imagine how bad those ‘abusive’ comments must have been.

  35. I do agree with you Kathie Shaidle – ‘A person cannot be used as a doormat if he/she refuses to lie down’. The left are by nature cowards – they attack the strong with the yellow belly vitriol of self righteousness. Prosperity among people is the enemy of Communism, the agenda driven elitist manics rely on the weak to drag down the strong. Confront them.

  36. Makes me wonder what the leftards would do if they could get away with harming Conservative supporters??? The tolerance and diversity crowd never cease to amaze me because they lack either quality.

  37. I used to argue with Bubble at the Globe and Mail for fun. So would son of bubble be the soap scum left when the air goes out?

  38. The G&M took the message down but not until it had accumulated 101 thumbs. Sadly, my reply went with it.
“Soap scum”. (Speedy 1:42) I kind of like that.

  39. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR NOT VOTING,VOTER APATHY IS UNACCEPTABLE .

Paul – think about this for a moment…Voter apathy is a gift to those of us that cast our vote after some objective thought and consideration!

  40. I find a sort of dark humour in the spectacle of Liberals voting down a government for having contempt for parliament. How else could you describe the period 2001-05?
The Liberal response to Gomery seemed to be basically this: “so what?”
Contempt is not wrong for Liberals, apparently.
