Why the Left Hate Sarah Palin – Part 2

This earlier post generated a lot of interesting discussion about the venomous hatred so many on the Left feel towards Sarah Palin. To be clear, there’s nothing wrong with not liking her or not supporting her running for POTUS one day, but what’s occurring in the hearts & minds of many Leftists is much, much more than mere dislike.
In the earlier piece, Evan Sayet explained his theory about the hatred. Now “Robin of Berkeley”, a self-proclaimed recovered liberal, gives her take, very much from a female perspective. It’s a fascinating read.

  1. The Far right wing blogs have changed their tone. They are no longer putting up posts with titles like
Why Isn’t (Insert Name Here) Dead Yet?
And the people posting violent fantasies on right wing blogs of killing people whose political opinions they dislike are either taking a breather or getting their comments deleted.
Instead they’re moaning and gnashing their teeth for people having the temerity of actualy quoting them. But then perhaps they’re not accustomed to non lunatics paying attention to them.

  2. Kevin, we’d all love to see some examples. How about just 2 or 3? Your assertion that conservatives are wishing people dead is clearly a fantasy of yours but you really should squelch such fantasies as this ugly side of you isn’t very flattering.
Incidentally, if you’d like an example of where this has gone on with your comrades on the Left, look no further than here. That’s just one example. More are easy to come by.
Now, as for your examples, we’re all waiting . . .

  3. cross post from yesterday’s thread
Wow! 86 comments, 48: minutes of video and a 1/2’s worth of articles, and what’s a guy to say that hasn’t been said already?
No fear though, Indian Homez has done his digging and has two more reasons that have not been mentioned here…but first I have a few other comments.
    First, okay=new
Second, if I didn’t know better I’d think that Evan Sayet has been reading the comments by yours truly, as his hypothesis is very similar to that of which I’ve been spouting. For example, Evan did an excellent job elaborating on something I’ve been saying: that liberals think that everything that has come before them, by others, is wrong; and can only be remedied by them. IMO this is a result of a sabotaged education, and the hammered home unearned excessive sense of self-esteem. The combination of these two factors will inevitable lead to the uninformed view that only THEY can get it right. I use the ‘new teaching’ methods as an example of this. Why else would teachers not see the correlation between the declining literacy of public school students and the parallel departure from traditional teaching methods? I’ll tell you why: THAT’S ALL THEY KNOW!
Like Ann Coulter said: “for liberals, history starts anew each morning.”
    Bingo
Third, wrt to the suggestion that SP should run for VP on someones ticket. I do not believe that SP is a legitimate option for any Presidential candidate for the same reason that Billery was not a legitimate option for BO’s running mate. These two women are simply too big in their own right, and would have overshadowed their Presidential candidate, which in my view would hurt their electoral chances. A Presidential candidate must be in and appear to be in control, and not riding the tidal wave of their VP candidate.JMO
Fourth, the Left made Sarah Palin! To use a Matrix analogy, Sarah Palin is to the Left what Neo is to the Matrix. An inevitable answer to the flawed human code which is socialism.
Fifth, in response to Robert W, and his comments about ‘why the Left thinks SP is stupid’. This is easy, the “stupid” label is as much the base of the Left’s playbook, as the Blitz is the base of NYJ’s coach Rex Ryan’s defense. “Stupid” is the same label they used on GWB that they now use on who is perceived as the leader of the GOP. Sarah Palin has simply inherited the title “Stupid” from her predecessor.
From the first day that it was apparent that Sarah Palin was going to be the target of the Left’s vitriol, I said the following, which in my opinion is a pithy way of saying much of what has been said above.
“Sarah Palin is the personification of everything the Left hates.”
Now for the gravy; why does the Left hate Sarah Palin so much?
    1) She was a Cheerleader!
    2) She was a basketball star!
It is no coincidence that in absolutely every movie and television show that I’m aware of, the cheerleaders and the sports stars (jocks) are demonized; and the rejects (losers) are idolized. The beautiful chick always, and I mean always in the end sees the jock as the loser he is and without doubt finds her true knight in shining armour, the geek. I’ll list Transformers, High School Musical and Glee for a few recent examples of what you all already know.
On an episode of ‘King of the Hill’ a comment from the school councilor sums up the liberal view best:
“If you win, you are a loser.”

  4. The author of that piece lives in Berkley? The one in California?
How many different blood pressures meds does she have to take each day to keep from exploding?

  5. Ooooppps! I wrote “exploding”!!
I am sure that ol’ kevinw can find some deep hatred of some oppressed class in my use of the violent word!

  6. Regarding ‘Robyn @ Berkley”
That was a very thoughtful and introspective piece. That said, I’m glad I got my ‘cheerleader, ball star’ theory off the ground before she could steal my thunder.
    OT
Robyn’s theory is one much similar to that which I’ve proposed regarding the militaristic Atheists. I’ve suggested that this vitriol they feel towards Christians (and religion as a whole) is because they object to being personally judged by a third party. Now I’m an agnostic as some of you might know, but I am content to be judged for my actions by my peers, society and others I haven’t mentioned. THIS… I believe is the difference between those militant atheists that are so certain of themselves to the point of faith, and others like ET, Black Mamba and myself that can accept judgment, and who pass judgment themselves. 7. Jim, I won’t hold it against you!
By the way, something that Robin said very much applies to the likes of Leftist trolls like Kevin:
But there’s a darker reason for the abject hatred of Palin, and the clues can be found in that Catskill Mountains bunk. Because evil can manifest when people project their own badness and shame onto another.
People on the left hate Palin for one simple reason: because she is everything they are not. She is their polar opposite because her life journey has diverged from the prescribed liberal path.

  8. “Robin in Berkeley” has a few other gems online and I think she’s been linked to previously, I’m unsure if she drinks or whatever, but like “Zombie” in San Fran, I don’t think her head shaking really stops.
When I converse with 90% of my parents family, the hate directed when I mention Sarah Palin is instantaneous, they’re unhinged. This frees with me to shovel more turkey on my plate at Christmas. ect…
and there is no middle ground.

  9. Isn’t it said that in order for evil to triumph, good men must not act?
In regards to SP, we now know what evil is when good people act.

  10. She knocks that one out of the park! What a lot of the left have isn’t just disagreement on an intellectual level, tha venom we see can only come from emotional responses, the primitive part of our brains. Maybe liberals (modern, not classical) have more primitive brain than conservatives or classic liberals!

  11. indiana homez – nice analysis. I’d agree that Palin shouldn’t run. Not as VP nor as P. As VP, she’s as you say, ‘larger than the P candidate’.
But again, my own view is that her voice ought to be non-partisan; it shouldn’t express any political party. She ought to speak for all Americans who are committed to common sense, to honesty, to ‘telling it like it is’. Not for political gain or power. But for the American people’s strength. That’s why I think she has a role far more important, oddly enough, than as a politician in the GOP.
My view of why the left hates Palin is two-fold. Yes, they hate her because she is a beautiful woman, secure in a family and children, doing things that the left would never do (hunt, fish for food not just for the three-week safari); living a lifestyle totally alien to the left (no charity balls and first-night-at-the opera)..etc.
But I maintain that they hate her because to them, she is a member of the lower class. By virtue of her being from Alaska, of her not going to an Ivy League school, of her not being a member of the elite professions (lawyer, professor etc). And her movement into the political realm – a realm which they consider by ‘divine right’ belongs only to the upper class, is viewed as an outrageous act of arrogance.
    So- they attack.

  12. It is interesting. Robyn’s take likely has a good grasp of why they hate her so. First off, I am not a huge Sarah fan. I don”t think she is intellectually curious enough, and I am not a social conservative, but a libertarian when it comes to matters of the person BUT, I do respect her values and don’t think for a second her way of thinking is a bad thing.
That all said, I think what drives the left nuts is to know that yes, as Robyn points out she proves that modern women don’t need all the tenets of liberalism to succeed and enjoy life. Liberalism is tied up so thickly with feminism that any woman who breaks the feminist mold gets shellacked…

  13. Well worth the read, she’s right about the left being like pavlov’s dogs. When the left are public called to the carpet for their hatred they point at the right and say they did it too sans evidence of course. Like spoilt brats caught stealing they blame someone else and kick the dirt.

  14. Thanks ET.
    Re Sarah Palin’s electability.
I hope that Sarah Palin does run in the Primaries; but, that doesn’t mean she’s got my support. In my view, the more strong candidates the better. If Sarah Palin doesn’t win the nomination, she sure as hell will “cut the grass so the snakes will show”; and I’m talking about Republican candidates.
I believe that SP’s political fate will be decided in the debates. First Primary debates, and secondly the Presidential debates. IF…and that’s a BIG ‘if’ Sarah Palin mops the floor with her competitors at this time, I believe that SP will be able to shake the ‘first impression(see Adler today)’ she’s given. Sarah Palin’s main detriment according to right-wing analysis is her ‘high negatives’ rating. This is the same criticism that Billery had in the 08′ Primaries, and is likely the reason she lost the bid. She lost the bid because internally, Democrats thought her ‘high negatives’ would be the horse the GOP would ride to the White House. Conversely, this is the reason that J.McCain won the nomination, because he was palatable to the Left.
Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE thought that a) the Seahawks couldn’t beat the Saints; and b) the Jets couldn’t beat the Patriots(especially after the previous blow-out) except for their most ardent supporters. There is a saying that my favorite TV personality Chris Berman likes to use: “That’s why they play the game!”
Don;t count Sarah Palin out yet, she…c.o.u.l.d….g.o….a.l.l…..t.h.e……w.a.y…..

  15. First of all, I think Sarah Palin can do more good if she’s NOT an elected politician. Now to Robin’s article and an angle of this issue that hasn’t been really discussed:
Robin of Berkeley had a “conversion from a progressive to a religious conservative”. One can read about that at her eponymous blog, Robin of Berkeley. I’m going to quote some scripture. I think Robin would be in agreement—and I think that even non-believers can get the gist of what I’m saying.
Sarah Palin is an “out of the closet” Christian. There is definitely a spiritual dimension to this. From my earlier post: “Sarah Palin’s mature, sure self-confidence and common sense, along with her humility is a foil for the immaturity, self-centredness, and arrogance of her detractors, whose self-confidence and sense of self-worth are tied to being part of the crowd—the ‘in’ crowd, at that, which is now thoroughly secular and self-referential.
“In contrast, Sarah is an unrepentant—as in bold!—Christian. She has a sure sense of right and wrong and lives by that . . .”
John 3:19-21: This passage is a good description, I think, of why the left—a foil to Sarah—gnashes its teeth when a spiritual person like her, who’s not easily intimidated, comes on the scene.
“And this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
For every one who does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.
But he who does what is true comes to the light, that it may be clearly seen that his deeds have been wrought in God.”
Ephesians 6: 10-17: When Sarah Palin spoke so openly, as a believing Christian, on the Sean Hannity Show the other night, I was surprised, but delighted. This passage would be well known to her:
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Therefore take the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
    and having shod your feet with the equipment of the gospel of peace;
besides all these, taking the shield of faith, with which you can quench all the flaming darts of the evil one.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
I believe there is an active force of evil at work in this world: Christians call this force the Devil, the “Prince of Darkness, the Prince of this World”. I’m not saying that the left is evil—but many of its actions are, and so are a great many of its operatives, who have accumulated a vast amount of power in many high places. Jesus, as the personification of Truth and Love, had to be eradicated and He said that His followers would be persecuted. They are! The powers of this world hate the Truth.
Of course, Sarah Palin is far from perfect—and would be the first to admit it. However, she honours Truth and is willing to take a bold stand. The hatred directed at her has a spiritual dimension—as did that leveled at George W. Bush, another committed Christian: it is no coincidence that the vitriol directed at these two is visceral in its ferocity and mean spiritedness. I pray for their safety.

  16. Hey, you folks want to “clean up” your language in order to mollify the Little Hitlers of the Loony Left, go right ahead. Me, I don’t care what they think of my word choice. Or much else.

  17. Before Palin there was Bush. Before Bush there was Gingrich. Before him there was Bush and Reagan.
The left always needs someone they can despise to the bottom of their heart. Sort of like professional wrasslin’, I guess.

  18. From the article:
Although I wasn’t a major player, I also did nothing to stop the madness, which shames me to this day.
What is more troubling to me is the lack of conservatives coming to her defense.
How many of the new Rep’s in congress that Sarah helped win their districts have stepped up in her defense? (I just can’t think of any right now.)
When Sarah came out and defended the right from the absurdity of Tuscon, Not only were the majority silent, some went on the attack. Gingrich?? What a tool!
Krauthammer??? an elitist scared he’ll lose his seat at a DC Christmas party?
There’s more too, I just can’t run down the list right now.
For some, I’ll cut them some slack due to shock. But that passes in time.
For me, it will be interesting how they deal with their silence in not coming to the defense of the right, freedom of speech, and conservatism in general.
Evil persists when good men do nothing. And there were a lot that did nothing. Others that were elected because of Sarahs message.
They can resolve that guilt by backing her if she runs for POTUS.
They owe her,,, and should be reminded of it.
Politics is ugly, Not everything is fair in love or war. But even a dog knows if it’s been kicked or tripped over.

  19. I think Sarah Palin is qualified to run for POTUS. What qualifications are needed? She is bright, honest, I think incorruptible and understands economics better that almost any other candidate I can think of. (Well, maybe Newt Gingrich.) As governor of Alaska she has shown that she can take on the elite and even those in her own party. She is in favour of the USA becoming self-sufficient in oil, which is entirely possible. I hope she’ll run and get elected. There are few people for whom I have more respect and admiration.

  20. Being witness to the vile hatred hurled at Sarah Palin is like sitting in a room with psychotic people. It’s madness. It’s irrational and rotten. What I would give for these leftists to either reflect on what they say or say it to Sarah Palin’s face. Where is their courage?

  21. Robert W; I did not know the term for those callers, Rush proved that 15 years ago when his people dug through the classifieds to find the ads paying so much an hour for insipid lefties to spew talking points on his and other shows, same thing here. Rutherford in Calgary always has the same vile lieberals phone in, Terry, Stan, a really stupid Gord, because he entertains a really smart Gord also, but you just know they get a weekly breifing from a Katsmeat/Eggy release on what to say, then in true leftie fashion they hang up once they spew their venom. These are true haters of the next generation these Palin haters, they just use her for the whipping girl, she has to be tough, something you never see in a Kennedy or any other liberal.

  22. Twenty four hours and counting !! Since Robert asked the question yesterday.
‘Why Does The Left Hate Sarah Palin So Much?”
In that time, thousands of ‘lefts’ have read the question. It is also now on the first page of a google search.
But so far no ‘hater’ has commented with a well thought out answer.
    Why?

  23. Before the presidential elections Sarah Palin was in debt.
Almost $500,000 dollars if you include her new home and special interest lawsuits.
Now that the left has turned her into an awesome icon,
    she is a millionaire.
Thanks to all the leftist rants she keeps making speeches, writing books,
    and getting richer and richer.

It reminds me of the first Ghost-Buster movie when Dr. Vechman taps his fingers across the stove and says:
    “This drives them crazy”
I hope this drives the legion of left Lemmings off a cliff:
    “Sarah Palin”
    “Sarah Palin” “Sarah Palin”
    “Sarah Palin” “Sarah Palin”
    “Sarah Palin” “Sarah Palin”
    “Sarah Palin” “Sarah Palin”………….. jump.

  24. “Leftists loathe Palin because she has retained something that was stripped from them years ago: a wholesomeness, a purity of heart.”
Yeah, that’s much more like it. Still married to the first husband, didn’t abort the Down’s Syndrome baby, has the down home accent, didn’t go to the right schools, shoots moose and cleans them herself, drives a snowmobile… and looks like Barbie…
…Obviously the woman has to be destroyed ASAP.
Republicans “wishing death” on Gabrielle Giffords by putting up some random graphic = eeeevile, Democrats screaming for death and worse to Sarah Palin = “What, you got a problem with that? What are you, a RACIST?!!!”
Like I said before; burning cross, Birkenstocks, not much difference.
BTW trolls, in case you were wondering this is why we mock you. Because you are willing tools of evil.

  25. Robin of Berkeley can be interesting – and I’ve read her many times before – but I wonder if the tendency here isn’t to reduce the sheer viciousness of the hatred against Sarah Palin – and I’ve never seen anything like it, even Bush Derangement Syndrome doesn’t make the cut – to a sort of cat fight.
    (This is just for Indy)
Whatever it is about Palin that inspires such vitriol, and conversely such admiration, it can’t be reduced to Junior High School Cheerleader bitchiness.

  26. Phantom @ 5:22pm: VERY Well Said!!!
P.S. I think we both took the same “Sarcasm 101” course way back when, though you clearly want onto the Ph.D. level. I’m tryin’ to learn more though!

  27. Couple of interesting points.
Sarah Palin, like Boehner, helps demonstrate that the bourgeoisie is only after the perpetuation of its own power.
Palin and Boehner are both members of the proletariat (working class). They both pulled themselves up by their own bootstraps.
According to the class struggle theory, political interest should be in elevating the proletariat in a struggle against the capitalists or the bourgeoisie.
However, what’s actually going down is that the left is in love with people like John Kerry and Barak Obama and other established members of the wealthy bourgeoisie. So the left can make no credible claim that its desire is to help the working man.
The same thing happened in Russia. If you were a member of the Central Committee, life was pretty sweet. However, if you were a working stiff in Siberia, God help you. but the bourgeoisie (apparatchiks) constantly lorded it over the proletariat, sucking them dry all the while paying lip service to the poor working stiffs at the bottom.
So Sarah Palin is someone who made it up the social and economic structure by her own efforts. The left wants to have it both ways. they want to appear as if their concern is for people with fewer advantages. But they elect people like Obama and excoriate an authentic member of the working class.

  28. She can WIN and they fear her for this reason.
She can beat them and they fear her because they believe she is their biggest threat.
She’s a winner, somebody MUST have been discriminated against for her to win, so they hate winners, they have to back a perceived victim.
Victims are losers and the left is happy to invent victims to back rather than back a winner.
Evan Sayat posits the modern liberal will always back evil over good, wrong over right and the behaviors that lead to failure over those that will lead to success.
The modern liberal rejects all facts, reason, evidence logic proof morality and decency.
Sarh Palin embodies all those things and that’s why people like Krugman must tear her down.

  29. RobertW at 5:55, I find that the nice thing about posting on the web is I have time to think up the perfect crushing comeback, that thing I SHOULD have said to the annoying liberal putz on the subway. Instead of headbutting them.
However, I am but a humble student at the knees of Giants like McMillan, Shaidle and Steyn. (Sounds like a law firm, eh? 🙂

  30. Another side-splitter from the incomparable Iowahawk. A snippet:
KRUGMAN (flashes New York Times OpEd badge) . . .
So Sullivan, who do you think Dreambrain [Loughner] was working with?
    CHIEF FORENSIC GYNECOLOGIST ANDREW SULLIVAN
Well, if I had to venture a guess, I’d say it was a woman. Late 40’s. Likely an ex-governor of a US state. One capable of mind control and superhuman childbirth abilities . . .

  31. Palin is more than qualified than any current or recent contender to be POTUS. The left in America simply does not want good government; they want granola government (flakes and nuts).

  32. The kevinw, jay forbes et al of this world can go frack themselves. Their time is up and their progressive garbage is on the way out. They can rant at Palin all they want, accuse her of having a low IQ and worse. They project their own lack of relevance and achievement on a woman who has both, in spades. Lefties, your day is done. You are all going down, and hard. I really don’t give a d*mn about any arguments you may have – you have shown yourselves to be vile creatures. We on the right will do the same Alinksy number on you as you’re trying to do on Palin. Except we are much smarter and better at getting things done, and our folks are much smarter and better at getting things done (see Obama, Bob Rae, Michael Ignatieff, Jack Layton) so stand-by. Your snurfling at the public trough is headed for extinction. You are all irrelevant to western civilisation, and the proof is coming every day – from your own side. So like I said, go frack yourselves. You thought you’d won when Obama was elected – in fact, for the victory of sane people over progressives it was (to borrow a phrase from Churchill) the end of the beginning… your true colours came out in your inane victory and people started seeing the ugliness under the smooth progressive skin.
Our greatest victory will be making progressivism irrelevant, and we’re well on our way. See, progressives hide from a fight (verbal or otherwise). We don’t. And we have actual, real world knowledge on our side, not rose coloured glasses hiding a hatred for everyone who refuses to conform. Progressives, you are the ones George Orwell warned us about, and you will not win.
Thank you, and go frack yourselves.

  33. Sorry if this ‘double-posts’ but I inputed my e-address incorrectly and accidentally hit ‘enter’ while attempting to correct it.
I’ve just returned from a ‘Discussion Group’ with a dozen other junior seniors (55+) of which the first topic was the political vitriol which our moderator posited, came mostly from ‘the right’.
My experience with our group is that it is truly representative of a cross section of the Canadian populace – left to center leaning, with a smattering of polite conservatism. I’ve decided that I’ll NOT be part of the Canadian current, though I will remain respectful and polite.
I noted three items from our discussion. First, even our more ‘conservative’ members prefaced their remarks in defence of Sarah Palin with nuggets such as “Well, even though she may not be the brightest bulb in the room”.
I don’t let such remarks pass any longer, but instead cite her accomplishments and challenge them to show why they believe her to be unintelligent.
Secondly, the group tended to focus on the act of the shooting and the perceived uncivil discourse of the right. I thought the point misplaced and to that end, brought forth headlines from four major American newspapers that trumpeted the lie that members of the Black Congressional Caucus had been spit upon and had the ‘n^*#er’ epithet hurled at them. Despite there being a plethora of video cameras on hand, plus an offer of a $100,000 reward for evidence of the claim, none has ever been produced.
I brought to their attention that the real damage came not from the common usage (by right and left) of ‘martial’ metephors, but by the deliberate smearing and incitement to hatred of their political opponents, by the left. They deliberately and pointedly used this real ‘crisis’ and the false and fabricated one just mentioned, for their own crass political purposes and at great cost to the fabric of American society. Their end justified their means.
My third point is in relation to the terminal stupidity and ignorance that too many of us leave unchallenged, because being Canadians, we’re just to darn polite. Since both parties are seeking new leaders. the topic had changed to the absence of quality leadership in B.C. politics.
One of the women, a former teacher, had complained during the earlier discussion that Canadian media reported far too much about American issues, especially election reporting. When it was suggested that she simply change stations, her reply was that she “only listened to CBC radio”. I found that shocking – that as a retired teacher, she listened to only a single news source.
In any event, she alluded to Premier Gordon Campell having been arrested for drunk driving in Hawaii and his having had a ‘love-child’ as evidence of unfitness for office. Everyone in British Columbia is aware fo his driving conviction, but the ‘love-child’ accusation was bizarre.
In days gone by, I might have, for the sake of peace and politeness, been disinclined to embarrass her in front of her peers – but those days are long gone. I immediatley challenged her to prove her allegation by citing her sources – which of course came down to “having heard it from a couple of other people”.
This allowed me to draw the analogy to our first topic: the willingness to smear, malign and destroy the reputation of others in order to advance our own political agenda. Or at the very least, to suspend our own internal intelligence and allow ourselves to be used by others because we’re too damned lazy to question and investigate before spreading malicious gossip to those we think might offer their approval.
It’s scary to think that we put our children into the hands of such people and I’m no longer going to be that polite Canadian. When I hear BS I’m going to call BS, and if they end up embarrassed in front of others, so much the better.

  34. I love coming here. It’s just like going to the carnival or tripping out in bizarro world. I have two words for you: Joseph McCarthy. Now, while the mere mention of this name might send blood rushing to your girded loins, but it wouldn’t hurt to engage brain before drooling out stuff like this: “The left always needs someone they can despise to the bottom of their heart.” McCarthyism was the paragon of reckless visceral hatred and baseless accusations
@Greg in Dallas: Congratulations, today’s award for the complete bastardization of leftist discourse goes to you. Class membership in orthodox Marxist theory is very simple. It hinges on your relationship to the means of production. The capitalist owns the means of production and thus forms part of the bourgeoisie. The worker exchanges his labour power for a wage and at the same time works most of the day for free so he can add surplus value to the products he produces. This being the genesis of profit in the system. These are the proletariat. You are right to suggest the bourgeoisie seek to reproduce existing power relations, but so does the ruling elite of any social order. What you forget is the role of the state. The political system is essentially a smoke and mirrors show purporting to be a democracy, but really is there to shill for the bourgeoisie. Obama/ Bush all of them are swindlers for the bourgeoisie. It bears repeating the Obama is considered by most socialists a stumbling block to socialism not an advocate. And for obvious reasons. He’s Wall Street backed, supported the same bail out and tax breaks for the rich as Bush. He trenchantly pro capitalist.
@ lookout: You’re scaring me now. Holy Jesus Camp batman! Comparing Palin to God’s grace. The incendiary language of soldiers in God’s army. Girded loins of sanctimonious self-righteousness. You’re creeping me out a little. Am I the only one?
Speaking as a socialist, I certainly don’t hate her. I find her compelling. She’s attractive and feisty but also capable and self-reliant. Where I lose respect for her is as an ideologue, politician, and thinker. Palin’s got nothing on your cherished Kate, indeed she has a lot less going for her in that department than your beloved Kate.
P.S. A HREF=”http://dailycaller.com/2011/01/15/bill-maher-attacks-tea-party-admiration-for-the-founding-fathers/”>There might also be another group of people who would not have been so fond of Palin and other Tea Party adherents: those elitist overeducated deist Founding Fathers of America whom they so deeply revere.

  35. Bill, a socialist calling a conservative an ideologue is hilarious. The whole concept of ideology has its genesis in socialist thought. Conservatives have no ideology… we want the bloody ideologues with their ideas to make the world perfect to just GO AWAY.
Bringing up McCarthyism as an accusation against a conservative is rich… the new McCarthyism is purely leftist nowadays, and if you can’t see that, then you must be a progressive, whose ideology is revealed truth, and you haven’t been paying attention to reality. The witch hunts nowadays target anyone the left finds objectionable (see the CHRC just as an example – if that isn’t the definition of McCarthyism, then nothing is). Typical progressive bs, sunshine, projecting again.
Frack you too – you are also irrelevant to the discourse.

  36. PSS: I didn’t mean to insinuate Kate’s not hot like Palin nor that Kate doesn’t know her way around manly pursuits like killing animals. She is all of those things and to boot Kate’s much more intelligent and knowledgeable.
@Tanker: I’m just glad those guns aren’t loaded. Fortunately for us, you can’t just go to Wal-Mart and buy substance for your thoughts.

  37. Jay, with each new posting of yours, you truly do prove that “De Nile” is more than just a River in Egypt.
With the hope that your Internet browser is not blocked from viewing Michelle Malkin’s website, here’s a useful link you should bookmark. It probably took her only about 15 minutes to gather those example. Many, MANY MORE Exist!!!

  38. FYI to Everyone: Above Jay Forbes stated that Sarah Palin thinks that Africa is a country.
This is a lie that circulated around the blogosphere over 2 years ago. What’s most amusing is that it revolves around a person who DOESN’T EXIST!!! More here
Just remember this the next time Dear Jay elucidates us with his “brilliance” in the future.

  39. As usual, Bill, you appear to be woefully ignorant of Christianity, although you claim to be a Christian. E.g., The words you put in my mouth have nothing at all to do with what I actually said. Your “interpretation” of the scripture quoted is altogether idiotic: no wonder you’re creeped out.

  40. Don’t pick on those poor trolls so much, Robert W. They worship a godling who said the U.S. had 57 States, Austrians spoke Austrian, 10s of 1000s of people died in a tornado that killed less than 10, called Europe a “country”, and said America was founded more than 20 centuries ago.
They also think the characters actors play are true-to-life.
Lower life forms with smaller brains should be sheltered and protected, in zoos and such, not squished to a messy pulp like this. Shame, Robert. Have you no mercy?

  41. Jay Forbes “Speaking of hate, I truly pity anyone so filled with hate that they have to barf up the overflow in such an unseemly fashion.”
That explains why you spend your time here instead of on the left wing blogs. I just visited Huffpo (which is cleaner than most left wing blogs) and was appalled at the base and baseless seething hatred. Btw, that’s just one small example of the “*idea* that the Left ‘hates’ Palin.”
And if you enjoyed “Africa is a country,” the Victor Davis link above must have been top entertainment. Why do Palin’s gaffes (I don’t even know if there is any record of the Africa comment) generate so much more attention in the media than the TOTUS and Biden gaffes?
