The Consequences of Biased Reporting on “Global Warming”

Update: As per a h/t from ‘Oz’, the video above encompasses clips from the much longer Global Warming Swindle. It should be mandatory viewing for all high school students, especially those going into journalism!

  1. All the clips by skeptics at the beginning are cuts taken from the documentary “The Great Global Warming Swindle”.
The Great Global Warming Swindle was a documentary prepared by the BBC and aired on BBC 4.

  2. Thanks for the added information Oz. You’ve also led me to the 2007, “CBC – Global Warming Doomsday Called Off”.

  3. It’s time to spread the “good news” – I’ll do my part in the USA. Thanks bluenoser and info Oz…

  4. Am I naive to hope that one day at least one of the AGW culprits are charged civilly or criminally for the harm they’ve reaped on the global economy(rhetorical)? What goes unspoken of are the thousands of individuals who’ve had their lives crushed by the AGW movement.
I hope for the day when individual civil suits are brought against the governments in the US, Canada and abroad for allowing this to perpetuate itself into the state that were in today. If we make the government pay, perhaps they’ll think twice about betraying us again.

  5. If we make the government pay, perhaps they’ll think twice about betraying us again.
The government never pays, only the tax payers pay.
    Government Revenues=Taxes
Governments cannot be held legally liable for their policies.
Now holding the liars who advised them, eg. the junk scientists, liable is a different kettle of fish.
If it can be proved that they knowingly lied while suppressing the truth they could be in deep trouble.

  6. Homez- I doubt there’ll ever be criminal charges, nor should there be. Most of these activists actually believe what they’re saying to be true. There’s no law against being confused.

  7. “There’s no law against being confused.”
However, in Canadians courts, ignorance is not an excuse.

  8. I respectfully disagree Coach.
Oz- gottcha, but I still believe that the punitive stick is the one we need to be waving around. I just don’t know the correct way to go about it. For example, if the people of California could sue their government for the ridiculous restrictions on water use that has caused untold damage to the state, that govenment would lose much of the money it wishes to spend, and would be forced to raise taxes to fill the void created by the lawsuit. This (in theory) would upset the voters who would then exercise their will on the government to make the necessary cuts and changes to avoid such lawsuits going forward.
Like I said, I don’t have the answers, but I know which stick I’d be grabbing for.

  9. Indiana, I’m not a lawyer but I’m pretty sure that in Canada you can’t sue the Crown for it’s policies.
(there are exceptions like the forced sterilization of people that was carried out in Alberta)
I’m also pretty sure that if the government makes bad policy on the advice of scientists who weren’t confused but were lying or exaggerating their findings while suppressing the truth then those advisers can be held accountable for bad government policy.

  10. Youtube is stalling the view count on this video at 921. Not going to wait for socialists to shout “Youtube Fascism!”

  11. You guys bring up a very interesting point, namely have the AGW fanatics actually believed the fiction they’ve continuously spouted. I think most of them do. The fact that some of them claim to be scientists or scientifically minded makes it all the more laughable.
Now, in those cases where some have deliberately excluded viewpoints that disagree with them may be cause for professional liability.

  12. Robert, the AGW fanatics couldn’t care less about the science and whether it is true or not. Patrick Moore explains in the video what their motives are. For them, AGW represents a political tool to cripple democracy, destroy capitalism, create a platform for Marxist political revolution, and for the more sinister elements, allow them to achieve a “500 Millioner” agenda (the depopulating of the earth by 6 billion humans).

  13. Bluenoser at 1:48 PM: “You’ve also led me to the 2007, “CBC – Global Warming Doomsday Called Off”.”

One brief blip does not constitute a call off. The CBC is still touting every iteration of global warming AND IGNORING EVERY STORY THAT COULD POINT TO THE FRAUD. Remember, bias is manifest by acts of omission as much as commission.

  14. Never fear Louise, having sent many emails to CBC over the years, most recently regarding their total lack of coverage of Climategate, I was pleasantly shocked, shocked I say, that CBC had once aired something showing the “other side”. Now to see something from Mother Corp. on the IWT scam… Cheers.

  15. Louise, you’re absolutely correct! Deliberate omission is an old trick of journalists to “shape” a story to fit their predetermined narrative.
I’d suggest that precisely the same thing goes on with “research” – be it for Global Warming, Drug Rehabilitation (think Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside), Education, and a host of other things. Even the “peer review” assertion is falling on deaf ears because people are waking up to the fact that such “research” is only reviewed by like minded individuals.
    Fire Them All!!!

  16. Homez- “Confused” as a verb. You have a valid point about the select few who created the confusion. The problem, I suppose, is they are so high up in the UN, or federal governments, we’ll never get a crack at them.

  17. The question, “have the AGW fanatics actually believed the fiction they’ve continuously spouted”
is a difficult one. AGW is typical crackpot science, no different in principle from cold fusion. The conclusion they promulgate is invariant under any amount of fact and argument. Arguing with a crank just produces a better-informed crank. Even those cranks who hold rather different positions unite against rational people. It is this last that makes me think that they do not fundamentally believe in their position. For global warmers this squares with the Al Gores and David Suzukis with their large houses and large transportation bills.
And, outside of their crankdom, they are often well-educated and intelligent.

  18. What i wouldnt give to see the fruit fly guy Suzuki hauled into court! Compliments of the CBC this guy has millions of our tax dollars. That Weaver guy from U Vic is another one that needs to be tuned up.

  19. Patrick Moore, one of the first members of Greenpeace, nails the nature of the present day environmental movement at 6:33. This is devastating:
” See, I don’t even like to call it the environmental movement anymore, because it is a political activist movement… By the mid-’80’s the majority of people now agreed with all the reasonable things we in the environmental movement were saying they should do. Now, when a majority of people agree with you, it’s pretty hard to remain confrontational with them, And so the only way to remain anti-establishment was to adopt ever-more extreme positions… the other reason that environmental extremism emerged was because world communism failed, the wall came down, and a lot of peaceniks and political activists moved into the environmental movement, bringing their neo-Marxism with them, and learned to use green language in a very clever way to cloak agendas that actually have more to do with anti-capitalism and anti-globalization than they do anything with ecology or science. ”
He left Greenpeace when they moved to oppose the use of chlorine to treat drinking water in the Third World, and worldwide. ( Could Greenpeace oppose water treatment to make it safe to drink because you can’t reduce world population unless millions die each year in the Third World of water-borne illnesses like cholera? )

  20. This is a great video. Too bad it will not get the exposure it needs.
    Patrick Moore is a patriot.

  21. I comment on a recent US Court Judgment that may put Journalists in a choke hold & should apply to AGW- MSM jerks… When a Journalist is acting as a partisan (one sided conspirator) to the issue writes or voices false drivel; they lose journalistic Constitutional protection. Those on the J-list are not Journalists in a legal sense…

  22. “Posted by: Robert W. (Vancouver) at January 17, 2011 2:41 PM”
Robert, lots of people think they are now “scientific” because they use computers and have virtually unlimited access to “sciency information”.

  23. I am a skeptic too but the Great Global Warming Swindle is rife with inaccuracies and distortions. We must do better.
