You are Sitemeter visitor number…
With the year winding down, this seems a very good time to thank you all – readers, tipsters, guest bloggers, and sponsors – for helping make SDA the success it has become!
Update! And here’s our visitor number 20,000,000.

Note: I use the Sitemeter count to mark SDA traffic milestones because it’s the public counter displayed on the blog. However, it’s not as accurate as the internal logs. For example, while Sitemeter shows 4,302,538 visits to the site since January 1st, internal logs indicates 4,596,908 “viewed traffic” (omitting robots, etc.). This evening there were as many as 8 visits per second coming into the blog.

Whoo – Hoo
Kate, you and the other folks who post on the blog itself have made it the success. Take a bow! In fact, take several.
Congrats Kate!
I’ve been reading you since Aug/Sept 2004 and thoroughly enjoyed it all! That was back after you’d converted from the old style of Roadkill Diaries where you wrote once “I went in to Vanscoy where the only thing I couldn’t get was laid”.
Any woman who can post that online gets my vote!
Congratulations Kate. Your quite the lady.
Thank you SDA for all the great information, entertainment and all the freedom fighting you do.
I urge readers of this blog to hit that paypal button once in a while and help out.
SDA is the best value on the web.
20 million. That is a remarkable achievement. Even more remarkable to me is the consistent excellence of SDA. Everyone achieves momentary exceptionalism at what they do, but few are able to do it day in and day out year after year for public consumption. Rush Limbaugh comes to mind, and as one who watches that excellence in broadcasting every day, it’s my opinion that Kate is every bit as good at what she does.
There are lots of regular posters and many lurkers here, and I think this is a great opportunity for all of us to celebrate this by hitting the tip jar.
I’d like to start with a $200 donation which is 1/1000ths of a cent per each of the 20 million hits – (Kate would be very well to do if she got a single penny each time each of us visited SDA)- to mark this occasion as a token of my appreciation and to say a heartfelt thanks.
I respectfully ask that others who enjoy SDA as much as I do mark this occasion along with your congratulations, with whatever amount you feel comfortable contributing. Though I don’t ever see it mentioned, I think the legal battles initiated by those who would like to bury Kate for what she does (and other Canadian bloggers) are ongoing and probably very costly (as is the bandwidth to accommodate 20 million hits).
Thank you very, very much Kate.
Well done Kate! I remember the first 1 million. I knew right away that your blog was going to be a hit. It is the site that I visit and read every day. What a wonderful New Years present to you. All the best to you and SDA. You truely are Canadian’s gift. Thank you for all of the frauds you have exposed. I still want to scream at the radio (and TV)…………
well.
lets see if I can grab the $20,000,000 prize.
And thank you for your insights, Kate.
Continuing success Kate! All the best in the coming year and thank you for being you. Cheers
Thank you Kate! And of course EBD, and the gang!
Many comments today already express my sentiments…intelligence, excellence, entertainment, freedom fighting, exposing goofs and frauds. Love SDA!
The checks in the mail!(Thanks ward for the challenge)
Happy New Year Kate!
My prediction…20 million at 8 p.m today (EST)
Congratulations Kate. SDA is the first site that I go to each day and I return to it several times a day, It’s at the top of my bookmark list. I absolutely depend on it to keep up with what is happening in the world.
What a way to end the year, eh. I’ve been reading SDA for a long while and as always, it is informative, entertaining, provocative and even edgy, although I must admit I missed the part where you couldn’t get laid in Vanscoy (blame the Breezer for bringing that up).
So here is to the next 20 mill… Cheers!

this is the biggest problem with conservatists; no imagination.
Congratulations!!! 20,000,000 visits is a phenomenal milestone. CBC, eat your heart out!
As for the challenges Kate faced in Vanscoy, Sask., no big deal, there are literally hundreds of places I’ve been where I couldn’t get laid either 😉
Like being a Rider fan even though I moved from Regina 40 years ago I also feel a certain affinity with SDA and it has been my go-to site since before Kate was on the Peter Warren radio program many years ago.
Congrats Kate.
20 million–WOW!!
My daily go to sites.

this stuff reminds me of the smugness of conservatists and what it can lead to. a.k.a. chickens, eggs, counting.

Aside from Breakfast, I think Small Dead Animals is the most important meal of the day. Thank you for feeding my mind and soul with high quality nutrition. I wish Kate, all the guest posters, and the great commenters the very best of 2011.
I would actually like to be a guest poster here or be able to provide some links and other stories on here is that possible or do i need to buy a membership?

Just scroll down Kate’s lists in the side bar.
Kate SDA is my first daily must read…thanks and all the best.
Way to go Kate!
Is Huffpo down mutt?
what a class act Kate, and congratulations – the beagle has been sniffing the wrong butt, and should only troll his lieberal friends
Hmm. No-one seems to go to National Review – an excellent analytic site.
In no order, I go to – on a daily basis:
National Review
Fox News
Hot Air
Pajamas Media
SDA
Michelle Malkin
Wall St. Journal
Of course I also check out CNN, the Toronto Star etc – but they offer litte facts or analysis.
and..every few days:
Drudge
David Thompson (once in a while)He is an excellent analyst – of not simply politics but societal mores and behaviour. Superb.
The Daily Caller
I think the National Review and Pajamas Media are excellent for facts-and-logic analysis.
Thanks Kate and congratulations on this site.

Globe and Mail (sam ting)

Good luck with that, Beagle. Sitemeter ignores duplicate visits that come within 100 of each other.
The problem, beagle, with your comment here, and always elsewhere, is that you simply give us your opinion. That’s irrelevant.
Opinions are nothing..unless you also provide the reasons that led you to take that opinion. You tell us that the selection of favourite blogs provided by some is an ‘ungodly boring selection’. You give us no reasons for your conclusion that they are ‘boring’. So…your comment is confined to one person. You.
Why not inform us WHY you consider them ‘boring’? And what sites you consider ‘not boring’? Hmmm?
A Beagle is a dog that likes to whine
Congrats on the Big 20,000,000 mil
Congrats Kate! I wish they were still doing the bloggie awards, so we could vote for you too.
This site is soooo boring I’ve posted twice and my third will be a landmark
posted by mutt
I for one am on the edge of my seat.
Congrats,Kate. A day without SDA, unthinkable.
I informed my MP’s staff of SDA, during the late AGW revelations, and it IS being monitored by CPC personnel for an insight into the concerns of their constituency.
Kate should get the Order of Canada for her work in exposing the villainy behind the global warming scandal.
“Why not inform us WHY you consider them ‘boring’?”
I can’t speak for “beagle”, but I would assume that he didn’t bother expanding on it because it should be obvious to anyone with a 3 digit IQ. The list is boring because it’s bland. Limited. Homogeneous. Whatever you wanna call it, it comes down to the same thing. Anyone who’s actually serious about understanding what’s going on in the world should have a much more varied selection of reading material. For instance, “Ken” provides a list which is much less “boring”, although it’s still not exactly a smorgasbord of content.
Not that I’m particularly surprised that the average SDA reader is perpetually stuck in circle-jerk mode; the insane vitriol aimed at Muslims and gays, as well as the constant rejection of science and reality as a whole make it obvious that most of this “community” is figuratively quite inbred. You get your information from the same limited set of sources, and congregate here in order to reinforce each others biases. As such, I was quite satisfied to see these lists being posted, since they perfectly confirm my previous hypothesis.
My list: SDA
BlueLikeYou.com
TheBlaze.com
Michellemalkin.com
all of the Breitbart sites
Strictlyright.com
Drudge
The Daily Caller
see, I trust people with the same worldview/same values as me….who needs the aggravation of reading some crap spun by a marxist/socialist/progressive?? I don’t trust people like that, I don’t admire people like that, so I don’t bother visiting. It’s simple.
Oh, and hearty congratulations, Kate! Have been a visitor since 2005; glad to have you on our side!
A rejection of science here!!??
During the past five years, sites such as this one and many others, such as wattsupwiththat and climate audit, have proven Proven PROVEN that Gore and company are nothing but con-artists and yet some jokers are still Still STILL drinking the con-jobs juice. It boggles.
oh, and one more thing: frankly, the thought processes of progressives/marxists make me nauseous…that’s enough to keep me away. Any of the Dipper sites and Liblogs spew so much hate, who needs it? NOT ME.
alex – beginning an explanation with the assertion that anyone who disagrees with you is ignorant – is itself an ignorant tactic; a juvenile strategy of trying to claim legitimacy where it does not exist.
Why not simply move to your main two points, which is your assertion both that the list is ‘homogeneous’ and that ‘homogeneity’ is itself an inadequate source of knowledge. Then we can argue the validity of both your points.
First – leave it up to beagle to provide his own answers. I’ve noticed that whenever he is called out to defend his opinions, he never replies. Utter silence. Heh.
I, myself, don’t consider that list ‘homogeneous’ because the list is not simply a list of like-minded opinions, but includes data and information. Data and information can’t be defined, obviously, as ‘homogeneous’!
Then, the analysis in such blogs as Hot Air (and others not in that list but to which you generalize:Pajamas Media, National Review etc) isn’t homogeneous, limited or bland. The thing is, these sites are not just opinions (statements made without a solid data-foundation) but are analyses based on data and logic.
AND – the comments are varied – everything from disagreement to agreement extremes.
When I go to ‘leftist blogs’, I find that the blog article itself is limited and biased and the comments don’t confront and debate the issue – but simply echo the author’s biased opinions. So – why go to such blogs?
As for this blog and its commitment to science, I’d say that Kate’s excellent set of pieces on the false ‘Global Warming’ is based exclusively on a commitment to scientific validation.
Would you provide us with the names of some other blogs and online sites that provide us with a broader range?
Have a good new year Kate. SDA gets results consistently. We need more SDA not less.
Lets pray the Government in its many follies doesn’t get to destroy this platform as they have so many others to muddy waters.
JMO
I challenge Alex to provide his list, if he has one.
Alex refers to our predictable list of sites which in his view merely re-inforce our existing opinions. And yet, PREDICTABLY, he provides no alternate lists where we may find the intellectual nourishment he finds lacking.
There’s a touch of truth in Alex’s view that we tend to lean toward sources of information which confirm our world view.
HOWEVER, as I often point out to a liberal friend, conservatives/libertarians already know these views, more properly described as mere emotions. We get them; they’re in the air; in the ether; we’re surrounded by them; smothered in them. From our political, corporate, academic and media power elites. We were stewed in statist agitprop from an early age.
Liberals/progressives however just don’t get an alternative world view, only retailed emotional reactions to them.
Constant rejection of science and reality?
Didn’t Kate mention at some point that many of the commenters on this site have science backgrounds, including computer science and engineering?
Congrats, Kate. I don’t remember when or how I came across SDA, but you’ve been a keeper.

Congratulations to Kate and crew. 20 million and counting yet only one bored beagle.
ET: as long as a significant portion of the readership thinks it’s plausible that adam had a pet velociraptor, don’t expect to be taken seriously on any scientific subjects. And as long as you use asinine phrases like “leftist blogs”, don’t expect to be taken seriously in political discussions, either.
BM: I have about 70 feeds in my RSS client. Excluding arts and entertainment stuff, maybe 55. Excluding audio podcasts it’s just under 50. I have no intention of trying to copy that list into here, but amongst them are: Google News National, slashdot, LGF, the White House and Canadian PM’s office, Jawa Report, Recursivity, Skeptic North, Captain Capitalism, Anandtech,sciencenews.org, and, of course, SDA.
@Alex
Please define “significant portion “. Also, please point me to the survey you took of SDA readers which proves that a “significant portion” of them – whatever your definition might be – “thinks it’s plausible that adam had a pet velociraptor”.
Also, why is ‘leftist blogs’ an “asinine phrase”. Are there not left-wing blogs? How about right-wing blogs?
I eagerly await your answers. I’m also hoping you choose to engage in a discussion with ET and many others here on “scientific subjects”.
