Its an internal discipline issue. He's going to make them sit in opposition for a while longer than expected.

Those Liberal members voting against this bill should be ashamed of themselves and should face internal repercussions. Further, contraception and access to abortion should be included in the government's initiative for developing countries when the G8 countries meet. It certainly is on the agenda of other European countries.

"Those Liberal members voting against this bill should be ashamed of themselves and should face internal repercussions."

Yes, they should be given no choice but to cross the floor and give the conservatives a majority. Good idea!

i would think there are signs of cracks in the armour.
Begining with earlier in the wk Brian Lillys column at examiner.com & the editorial from a top former liberal fedup with Rae & Dosanjh.
Are there? some centre liberal mps that are also fed up with the Loooney Dippers that have infiltrated the party are there 1, 2 or more that are having serious thoughts of crossing over? Yes i believe there are & All its going to take is one more serious pounding on the wall for crack to split wide open. These MP's are not stupid they see what is happening all across Canada strength is growing for a Center Party & Stephen Harper is shaping it that way. They see that more & more Canadians are fed up with these looney groups whining & crying with the end result Business not getting done in Ottawa.

T:

So?

T, shut up. Adults talking.
Maybe these dissenters felt uneasy about eugenics?

The Libs and Dippers seem capable only of creating tempests in teapots. Which may be what T stands for, in the end. WTF cares about any of this?

At least those Liberals who voted against the bill had sufficient courage and intestinal fortitude to do so. They have nothing to be ashamed of.

As for those who abstained from the vote or failed to show up. That's another story.

Why would we even consider paying for contraception and abortions in other countries?

Iggy's gonna end up as an associate professor at the University of Ottawa.
What a maroon!

BUT BUT BUT I was told that Ian Davey was the screw up and was replaced by superstud Donolo for that very reason.

Just goes to show you 'believe only half of what's on the internet and none of what's in the newspapers.

Must admit though it is refreshing to see the Liberals starting to admit their folly. Haven't seen that since ...... Does anybody know if we've ever seen Liberals admit their folly?

Obviously, there is no consensus on contraception and abortion, and the pro-life MPs voted according to their constituents and conscience.

Further, seeing as the maternal and child aid is going mostly to so called "3rd world" countries one could reasonably assert that the policy is racist against non-white populations.

Iggy & Rae-gun the last of the eugenicists...

New members for the Insane Clown Posse Caucus? Alls they needs now is the cool make up.

T- the problem with your comments is that all you do is state your opinion. It's a conclusion. You never provide the reasons that led you to that conclusion.

Therefore, all one can say to your posts is:
So what?

You see, my conclusion is different from yours. First, I don't equate contraception with abortion. You do; you insert the word 'and' between contraception 'and' abortion. That means that you consider them both forms of 'birth control'. I don't.

So, I'd agree with support for various forms of contraception as birth control, but exclude abortion as a form of birth control. Why?

Because the human being exists as soon as it is a fertilized embryo. It goes through a number of biological phases: embryo, birth, total dependency stage which lasts about 5 years, partial dependency stage which lasts another 5 years..minimum. That's the nature of our species.
To not acknowledge these biological phases of our species is, to me, an act of ignorance.

bryanr - yes, good point. Why haven't the NDP and Liberals roared up in defense of the niqab in Quebec?

ET you & I know the answer to that question i posed, Why the silence from the Liberals & Dippers on the Niqab Ban.
Votes in Quebec! Votes in Toronto!

Now if this had been in Alberta say! Total Outrage, nothing but Redneck Knuckledragging Nazi kkk, In fact we would see them marching with the Radical Student body of UofO demanding justice for all.

Tom Clark ripped up Ralph Goodale pretty good on Power Play.

It's on again in three hours ... lead interview.

T blathered: "Further, contraception and access to abortion should be included in the government's initiative for developing countries when the G8 countries meet. It certainly is on the agenda of other European countries."

Ummm .... You know that Canada is not in Europe don't you?

Don't confuse T with scientific fact. His mind's already made up.

Life does not begin at conception or "as soon as it is a fertilized embryo"; the courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada, have been abundantly clear on that matter. That is why if a pregnant woman is murdered in Canada, the perpetrator is not charged with two murders, as in some draconian jurisdictions south of the boarder.

T:

That would be the opinion of political science.

We saw how well political science worked in the AGW case.

Can't speak on behalf of anybody else here, but I prefer scientific fact to political science.

Life begins at conception. Scientific fact.

Set you free: For the sake of argument let us stipulate that life begins at conception if you want. Doesn't change a damn thing on my position on abortion.

Yes T and once upon a time being gay was against the law. Next!!! The law is not fixed. It changes to suit social mores. What it doesn't do is determine biology of where an individual's life begins. That is determined by a much higher power than the supreme court. Remember that about 51% of the time the DNA of that little single cell inside the womb is so different from the mother it is not even the same gender as the one to whom the womb belongs.

I must admit though I do get confused. I thought one of the great battles of the 'progressives' was the removal of the concept of ownership of women and children. Here it is all these years later and women now own the children in their wombs and can kill them at leisure? How very strange? Did T come up with this concept???

Actually, regardless of your position on abortion, the argument is moot, as both sperm and unfertilized egg are living cells prior to conception. At that point, you can call it independent life, or new life or something, but not "beginning" life.

Scientific fact.

T says "Set you free: For the sake of argument let us stipulate that life begins at conception if you want. Doesn't change a damn thing on my position on abortion."

You might want to think that one through, my odorous friend, because you will find that there is no "end date" on when an abortion could be performed. For example, by your logic, YOU could be aborted NOW.

How old are you T? About 15? Your synapses are having a bit of trouble firing properly.

Too bad Senator Stupak(D) wasn't available for the HoC vote:)

OT as far as trolls go, at least Not Stirred Enough was funny. You contribute absolutely nothing to the discussions on this site T. You remind me of Harboiled without the brains.

Doesn't surprise me. Murder is murder.

Way to walk into it, T.

What do your masters in the Borg have to say about this?

I'm just trying to get my head around T's "other European countries" comment.

Other European countries? Has there been a change in our location?

The other question is why would we want to follow the Europeans?

T, the Supreme Court is no more a scientific body than Al Gore is.
Try again.

Hey guys, give T a break.

He's still trying to get over the Piltdown Man.

"""The other question is why would we want to follow the Europeans?"""

when I vote I expect the individual voted in (my choice or the other one) to repre4sent me and my fellow constituents, not the damn europeans, git that T, that's how a democracy works. Not, we vote some one in and they do as the europeans do!!

I'm saying under.

Poor Iggy. Couldn't organize a two-man rush to a three-holer.

It's Bush's fault!

Apparently Don Martin says the Lib's can now blame Bush for their debacle. The wording of the motion with the reference to Dubya gave the Tories and easy out - in addition i guess to the no shows.

"the argument is moot, as both sperm and unfertilized egg are living cells prior to conception." Nice try Kate but not true.

I have seen only six of my sperm get a job and go to work. Of course they needed a little help along the way. They each needed one of my wife's eggs. Likewise my wife has only had six of her eggs suckle her breasts. Each one of them were only able to do that after her eggs met my sperm.

Looking at the DNA contained in each, neither the egg nor the sperm is a full cell. A fertilized egg has a complete DNA structure and left in its native environment (the womb) will develop into what we recognize as a human being.

joe, sorry to say, but you've just flunked biology. If either the sperm of the egg are dead fertilization can not occur. Of course if you're liberal you'll just deny that fact, declare it hate speech against an identifiable group.
