Unbelievable. I knew I'd see Conway in there somewhere.

Listening to a naive student who supports his prof on this subject on Adler right now. Poor, poor indoctrinated and naive kid. Universities are doing wonders for the fall of society right now.

All of them in crappy non-disciplines. A disgrace
to the name "university".

Wow, if I was making a list of useless departments the government should deny student loans for study in because they'll never see the money again (with the possible exception of Education), that would be it.

Not one hard science background in the bunch. Teet suckers all.

With the exception of the History and Geography people....what do you expect. All the rest are not real subjects to be taught and paid for anyways. The History person should know better and stripped of their degree. The geography person is simply 'lost'.

Obviously they prefer Taliban and Al-Qaeda imperialism.

"Canadian imperialism". WTF! These leftist, buzzword-addicted jerkballs are just more clear evidence of the need to defund the brainwashing departments of all the universities.

Why not give money to someone who deserves it? We give money to people who don't deserve it all the time. I think the change would be refreshing.

And to think that Universities can't think of places to cut their budgets, when there are entire departments calling out for it?

Fine, withdraw the program from U of R but these profs have to move and teach in Afghanistan in exchange.

A copy of my letter to the Minister of Justice:

Dear Sir,

Permit me to provide a quote from the National Post of 25 March, 2010:

"A group of professors at the University of Regina is protesting a scholarship program for the dependents of dead soldiers, arguing it promotes militarism.

"We think this program is a glorification of Canadian imperialism in Afghanistan," said Jeffrey Webber, one of 16 professors who drafted an open letter to university president Vianne Timmons."

I have no time for those who decry "hurt feelings" or differing opinions and I have little truck with the "Human Rights Commissions", whether they be federal, provincial or territorial. Opinions, whether insulting or not, are merely words and are the currency of a thriving democracy. True hate speech, on the other hand, seeks to cause harm to people, particularly of an identifiable group.

The letter from Jeffrey Webber and his confreres seeks to do financial harm to the children of deceased soldiers. This is a willful act to harm the livelihood of an identifiable group, to whit, the dependents of soldiers who are now deprived of a parent. This is a malicious, hateful act and has no right to be protected as 'free speech' since it is not merely insulting but seeks to abrogate the benefits of a disadvantaged group in society.

I request that the office of the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of Canada undertake an investigation of this hateful letter with the object of pursuing prosecution under hate crimes legislation.

This correspondence has been copied to my Member of Parliament.

Yours sincerely,

[Aviator] CD, BSc, MSc, Lieutenant-Colonel (Retired)

Judging by the course names these people are involved in I suspect they are more worried about a decline in enrollment in their classes. I can't picture soldiers taking any of these course.

Can you picture a woman who has just come back from a combat zone and dealing with Islamists wanting or needing to take "Women’s and Gender Studies and Religious Studies"? I'm thinking she should be teaching the course.

I think it was in 2004, UofT (a leftist Sh*thole it's self) did a study on political leanings of top profs in N A, and 87% identified as "liberal"

we need a house cleaning across the board, as these idiots haven't a clue.

we should raise ONE way fares to Iran, or some such place, for these fools to go live in!!!

Go Aviator, Sir.

Kate is bang on at 4:59.

Adler's naive kid agreed that he thought Webber would support Canadian troops fighting in Latin America to overthrow a government.

These sixteen are examples of the reason why Canada is slowly being turned into a Marxist state. My and my wife's grandparents escaped out of Russia in the 1920s to get away from this vile ideology and now it is being incrementally instituted in Canada.

These sixteen fit right in with Susan Cole's ilk.

I just added this to the comments at the link(maybe not exact)

Are the Professors also going to complain to the Royal Canadian Legion for the Scholarships they have handed out right across this country for the past 80yrs?
Are they going to complain to the Veterans of WWII, Korea, UN PeaceKeeping Missions.
For all the volunteer hrs in raising funds for kids to further their education, are they?

If anyone wants to send these people an e-mail here are their addresses. I couldn't find one for Buri.

Carol.Schick@uregina.ca; leesa.streifler@uregina.ca; william.arnal@uregina.ca; Ken.Montgomery@uregina.ca; Andre.Magnan@uregina.ca; warnockj@hotmail.com; Garson.Hunter@uregina.ca; Meredith.Cherland@uregina.ca; darlene.juschka@uregina.ca; Annette.Desmarais@uregina.ca; david.webster@uregina.ca; jeffery.webber@uregina.ca; Emily.Eaton@uregina.ca; John.Conway@uregina.ca; joyce.green@uregina.ca

Universities are echo chambers. These professors (I notice most are from the humanities) spend their time talking to like-minded people in sheltered enclaves far from the reach of reality. They seldom have to worry about what's truly happening in the world.

As a result, some truly strange ideas can take root. On those rare occasions when they go public with their ideas, the harsh winds of reality can be devastating to these hot-house flowers.

What was that vision concept they referenced? Something like

Mamadoneworkinatarealjob.

These leftists should be sent on a cultural exchange to Kandahar for the next ten years and if any of them return alive they can update us on their (revised) thinking.

When are these idiots going to realize at worst so maybe it is Imperialism. Better off for ALL OF US with our boots on their throats than their boots on ours!

None of these cowards will have the guts to stand up for what they call principles and resign. Not a one of them.
They are probably on their way to protest the Ann Coulter speech in Calgary. Dare we say DENIERS? Deniers of the right to free speech paid for with the blood of our brave soldiers. Perhaps we should send them off to the freedom of Iran. Or better yet Fidel's Cuba where all education and health care is free.

Kudos what KenK said "Go Aviator"

When are these idiots going to realize at worst maybe it is Imperialism. Better off for ALL OF US with our boots on their throats than their boots on ours! Either way support the families of our soldiers especially those of the fallen. If these clowns have such big dreams of socialist revolution....Well feel free to leave this country and sell your poison elsewhere.

Hmmm, all arts professors... Coincidence? Sixteen wastes of skin.

Am I missing something here? Liberal Left teachers are bemoaning a scholarship program? If the program was for children of war protesters who are Darwin Award Winners it would be embraced and opponents would be labeled "disadvantaged children haters".

so I charge these educators are "disadvantaged children haters" as is obvious by their opposition.

Them eggheads is all "urban citizens".

Their credo?

"“It’s For the Children”".

Wretchard asks: "But whose children?"

Read and marvel at O's Chicago Edumacation Pyramid.

Urban professors are also urbane, serious, and belong to the Illuminati.

Ask Liberal Iffy.

"“And, to press one of my favorite points, there is something about the urban citizen that makes him vulnerable to the artificial rationales for hiring government mediation. Something about never seeing natural horizons, never staring for hours into moving water, never planting and eating her own corn…that renders him/her susceptible to confusing techno-trivia with essential needs.”"

Yeah right!

I'll eat my shorts the day a liberal puts his/her "money where your mouth is".

They are being provocative and have provoked a response from me.

One definition of imperialism (probably close to theirs) is "the creation and maintenance of an unequal economic, cultural and territorial relationship".

I wonder if this group of professors is as anxious to stop the Canadian imperialism reflected in the gifts of millions of Canadian tax dollars to less developed countries when that practise has been shown time after time to keep these countries in abject poverty. My government's donations contribute to "the creation and maintenance of an unequal economic, cultural and territorial relationship". Why don't they call for that to stop?

I emailed them all suggesting they take a real stand and resign.

The Soldier Fights

The soldier fights for the hippys rights to protest against that soldier
the soldier fights for the politions rights to send that soldier to war
The soldier fights for buisness mans rights to make money
The soldier fights for the policemans rights to arrest that soldier
The soldier fights for school kids right to know about past soldiers
the soldier fights to so that you may all sleep at night
The soldier fights for religion so that you may all belive what you wish
And yet the soldier fights on
The soldier fights for his flag, for his country, for his life

We should demand that each of these "professors" should have their lectures audited by a group of veterans prior to their being spoken in the public halls of learning in this country. These socialistic educrats should have to face, eyeball to eyeball, with those who watched their fellow soldiers die and have permanent disabilities, be they physical or mental, when they returned and restored into our free society.

I believe they are too yellow-bellied and should all crawl back under the rock which they slithered out from.

Reminds me of a joke I read in the Reader's Digest this morning:
Scientist have discovered, in the mountainous region of Argentina, a snake with two legs at the posterior. It can be genetically traced back from University of Regina professors!

I agree with the professors. If the children of our fallen heroes don't go to university they won't have to listen to cowardly professors denigrate the kid's heroic parents.

Put another way: Those professors are not worthy of teaching the children of fallen soldiers.

Some more thoughts for these "academics":

Thank your grandfather that you don't speak German,
thank your father that you don't speak Russian, thank your brother that you don't speak Arabic. To which I can add, "Thank your fellow academics that you speak rubbish".

To use their logic, there would be some objection to any group who gives scholarships--religions, Monsanto, Exxon, Bill Gates, Rhodes, Governor General, Sasktel....

From the petri dish of Academia, such wondrous cultures proliferate!

Jesus Christ! A list of totally useless tits!
(Apologies for taking the Lord's name in vain. I hope he will forgive me, given the circumstances).
Oh, and apologies to useful tits as well.

The email for George Buri is George.Buri@uregina.ca

Having to grow up in a welfare district and then joining the army just to be able to try and carve out a living for myself,I at times caught myself wondering what if? What if I wasn't born into such a hostile environment, what if I had had access to schooling at the time, what would have become of me,would I have had reached my potential? Finding out now how infested the halls of academia are with these self absorbed closet communists,I now know I didn't miss a damn thing.

Thanks for the address list John - email sent to them all. Thanks for the poem Katie - I included it in the email. Received a reply back - seems Meredith Cherland thought it so important she took time off her sabbatical to be a signatory.

"Meredith is on sabbatical until June 30, 2010. She will check her email messages frequently."

The Ultimate Stupid List.

Add up all their IQ's and you'd get the same score as a used garbage bag.

Fire the lot of them . . . useless as as fart in a wetsuit.

Do you know who is teaching your children?

We have been utterly embarassed twice in the last 24 hours by the "tolerant ones" at two of our Canadian Universities.

That should tell the thinking parent one thing: Send your kid to trade school. Its a lot cheaper and the kid won't end up working while wearing a paper hat.

Well that's handy, a ready made list of faculty 5th columnists.

Pink slip all of them, They'll get a tenure tomorrow at Havana U. Better for everyone.

FIRE.THEM.ALL.

no taxpayer should have to pay for this crap.

Hooray for Imperialism!

Imperialism? We couldn't even take over the Turks and Caicos and they were practically begging to be a Province.

I tried to post the following in CKOM's Comments but no luck. Oh well.

I strongly agree that no Project Hero scholarships should be awarded for attendance at the University of Regina. No student should be forced to endure exposure to the anti-social knuckle draggers who signed that digusting letter.

In any event, the U of R isn't exactly noteworthy for scholasitc excellence. Transfer additional benefits to the U of S or some other deserving institution where the children of dead soldiers will be able to get a reasonably high standard of education in a friendly environment.

Lee Morrison

Surprised? Really? Look at the pedigree of this one: Darlene Juschka, Women’s and Gender Studies and Religious Studies. Can you just imagine the bile being spread around the lecture rooms? Now just imagine the calibre of those left behind in the Department of Justice and other federal departments and instututions after the Liberals packed their bags. All of these Far Left Matriarchal Socialist Harridens and their Male Cohorts are the Jetsem baggage that should have been thrown overboard when the Conservatives came to take over the Ship of State. Now what we have is the Ship of State Navigated and Steered by the Conservatives, The Engine Room Controlled and Maintained by the Liberals, the NDP on Permanent Watch Duty and the Bloc in Perpetual Mutiny. The Canadian People of course are the Passengers who have to be Transported and Served according to their needs and for wheere they want to go and what they are paying for. The best way to take a ship to sea, get to destination and weather all storms is to clear out the inefficient elements of the crew and replace them with people who can do the job, know where the ship is heading and who will be loyal to the Captain and his officers. Sadly this Ship of State has left the old crew in place. it will surely Sink.

Also, interesting to note that not one of those professors teaches anything REAL, like Science, Engineering, Math, Business. They're the useless faculty that are just a drain on the productive part of the University. Maybe we should send them to Afghanistan (unprotected of course) to see the good work that our men and women are doing there.

Currently the biggest problem encountered by our people mentoring the Afghan National Police is illiteracy. These maggots have provided the solution.

...just a thought.....

I call for Project Hero to unilaterally withdraw its program from the institution that calls itself the University of Regina. This institution is quite clearly unfit to teach the families of our fallen war heroes. No child or spouse of a soldier, who gave his life for his country, should have to be subject to four years of biased leftist bullshit from such ivory tower misfits as those that signed their name to such a disgraceful letter. In fact no child should enroll in this university, which is so undeserving of such a label, displaying none of the tolerance and acceptance one would expect in higher education. I call for a real debate on the role of universities in Canadian education and the cult of leftist cultural imperialism that has invaded them.
Send our children to a real university. Boycott UofR.

These deadwood commies need a good purging.

Stalin-style.

Why is sociology considered a subject of study? It's a degree for people too stupid to pass anything else. A job teaching for those with no brains, knowledge or social skills. Why it exists at all is beyond me.

In fact, the entire humanities departments should be axed and reconstituted with actual scholarship in mind at 1/20th the scope utilizing an entirely different set of people and an entirely new mandate.
