Obamas Interruptus

And the Bret Baier buzz begins.

You can watch the full interview here, or read the rush transcript.

Update: This QOTW from the NYT David Brooks... (via Hotair)

Either this whole city has gone insane or I have or both. But I’m out here on the ledge and I’m not coming in the window. In my view this is no longer about health care. It’s just Democrats wanting to pass a bill, any bill, and shredding anything they have to in order to get it done. It’s about taking every sin the Republicans committed when they were busy being corrupted by power and matching it with interest.

And now, for the "Hawaii earthquake" moment....

I did a quick speed-read of the transcript (the first half at least - really glossed over the second half).

Nothing even resembling an answer to the actual question posed, at any point in the interview.

Pathetic.

If it were Bush interrupting you would be framing it as him "coming out swinging". Obama looked stronger than he's been in months. I don't think he said "uh" once...oh and hey, no teleprompter. Who would of thunk it?

Finally, David Brooks has tuned back into reality.

'Don't know what happened to him over the past year; it's as though he was been snatched by aliens, with all his support of Obama.

Now, he's seen the light which has plunged him into utter darkness. Welcome back, David! Pass the flashlight.

Why would anyone confuse the desperate need to be the ONE talking with strength?

Barry Soetero is a fool ... a dangerous fool .... but still....

I detest when media hacks interrupt people ... no matter who it is they are hacking on.

Regarding Brooks' statement "In my view this is no longer about healthcare, it's just Democrats wanting to pass a bill, any bill, and shredding anything they have in order to get it done", here's Byron York in the Washington Examiner:

"(Since Pelosi) does not have enough Democratic, much less Republican, votes to pass it, the door she will be kicking through is the back door. Pelosi told the bloggers she favors using the self-executing rule strategy in which the House would pass the Senate health care bill without going on the record as specifically voting for it. 'I like it,' Pelosi said of the scheme, 'because people don't have to vote on the Senate bill.' The strategy of passing the Senate bill while avoiding a direct vote, writes (reform advocate Ezra Klein), 'is all about plausible deniability for House members who don't want to vote for the Senate bill.'"

Lovely. Members can tell their constituents "I voted to pass it, but I didn't vote for 'it', if you know what I'm saying..."

York:

"In a particularly Alice-in-Wonderland moment, Pelosi argued that the debate over health care reform can begin after the bill is passed. 'Pelosi said passing the bill would allow Dems to undertake a 'debate' with Republicans over 'what is the balanced role that government should have,' writes another pro-reform blogger at the Post, Greg Sargent. According to Sargent, Pelosi explained, 'We have to take it to the American people, to say, this is the choice that you have. This is the vision that they have for your health and well being, and this is the vision that we have.' Again, in Pelosi's scenario, that debate would occur after the bill is passed."

The anti-Democratic arrogance of the Democrats, and their contempt for Americans, is stunning.

Baier's trying to ask him a question and Barack Hussein won't let him by interrupting. You can see he's being raked over the coals instead of getting a free pass the MSM gives him by the scowl on his face. Obama's such a big girls blouse. So feminine and weak. I can't believe this girly-man is the president. Really sad.

Slaughter Bill..apt.

Speedy - "deem and pass" I kept hearing as "demon pass".

Obama goes on Fox and the CBC doesn't like it...

**“Unfriendly territory” is a subjective thing of course. A viewpoint. An opinion. But whatever. Apparently it’s not any of those things if you’re the left-wing CBC news. It’s apparently a self-evident truth that Fox News Channel is de facto, “unfriendly territory”.**

oh OH!...bambi's got the oh so sincere lefty touchy feely sensitve caring tim blair head tilt working.......

and who wouldn't thinking on all those earthquake and tsunami victims in his home state...which is the 57th state in the union in case nobody knew..

We hear what we want to hear, we see what we want to see. Question: Had George W taken care of Louisiana when it was time, would we be having this conversation??

From the comments at breitbart.tv

I am sure he meant Haiti, I am 3000% sure…

Too funny

had this been GWBush , the media would be all over him like a fat boy on a twinkie.

Had George W taken care of Louisiana when it was time, would we be having this conversation??
~Joe Citizen

Time.
It wasn't George W's jurisdiction, it was Loisiana Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco's jurisdiction and the federal government couldn't lift a finger until she asked them to come in and help.
The timing was all up to her.

By the way, the interview was canned.
It was prerecorded and Obama did not answer any of the questions put to him.
All Obama did was speechify for the whole thing.

Bret Bair did fine. He asked O real questions. No ONE in the media has so far. O isn't used to real questions. He cannot answer one. HE has NO idea what is in 'the bill' ( the stinker that the senate passed) He does not care what is in the bill because it does not matter. The passing of the bill is all important for in it is the power to control everything. Lives. Health. Bank Account access. Power of the State to control every aspect of an American life. And all the while illegals will get the health care they want and Americans will pay for while their parents have their medicare and medicaid cut off and their life support too. USA. USA.

The empty suit again proves he is nothing more than a partisan whore.

It was also talking point, no meat to his answers, just positioning. Disgusting piece of slime.

This was a point in time, of an embattled politician, fighting for his political life. He was not relaxed, or confident, whatsoever.

A One term blunder

The President of the United States makes a fool of himself on America's most popular cable news network?

This is not the America I grew up in.

This guy and his claque can't disappear too soon.

Tail end of the clip Obama refers to Hawaii just going through an earthquake (natural catastrophe).

Have I missed something? I know Haiti did, but did I miss Hawaii?

If a 2.0 qualifies as a natural catastrophe, which is apparently the daily norm, I guess Barry has a point.

A quick look around and Barrys Gaffe is up on drudge and Breitbart.

I miss Dubya.

Hawaii earthquake rebuttal. Do some research, Kate.

Aw geeez - Obama kept interrupting that guy while the guy was interrrupting him!

Hey Ward

Do ya miss Bush 'cause he was the one who declared the earthquake Hawaii suffered in 2006 to be a "major disaster"?

Steve, at what point does a "natural disaster" become large enough to justify corruption/bribery in the government. Numerous states at times in recent history have suffered disasters, does this allow all their bribes to stand? Do you really think the 2006 Hawaiian quake compares in gravity to katrina?

Will Louisiana be forever allowed to claim "special status?"

What happens to states that suffer a disaster after the bill is passed, is there provisions to grant them special status, and for how long?

Why is healthcare even being used as a vehicle for promoting economic recovery after a disaster? Don’t you consider that a little bit of mission creep?

Do you not see the insanity of even considering special status for universal health care? If americans knew how special status works in the canadian health care system, even the remaining 20% of americans that support obamacare would fall away.

I expect gaffes from politicians, some more than others (i.e. Biden). Obama's "Hawaii earthquake" may tickle conservatives but what really gets the blood going is the lies that follow.

So, showing that there was an earthquake that proves the great one's oratory skills are as honed as ever and will undoubtedly keep some lefties jumping for joy. However, I like to check what’s happening on the ground every once in a while. Might be a good idea for the democratic party as well.

Shouldn't the headline be "NYT columnist David Brooks apparently kidnapped by aliens and replaced by replicant"?

Steve, thanks for the link, because I couldn't remember any significant earthquakes in Hawaii. However, how big was it in terms of property damage and casualties? Are they still trying to repair the damage and devastation? If not, why would they need to invoke this provision of the health care bill - as the President seemed to be saying they should/would?

A couple of years ago I met the former mayor of my city of approx 250k people in a nursing home elevator as we were both leaving. Had met him only twice before at large gatherings over twenty five years ago. He greeted me by my first name.

While he was mayor, the MSM constantly vilified him as a stupid, do nothing, Tory leaning embarrassment unfit for office.

Obamagabe at the opposite extreme reminds me of a secretly illiterate person who has spent a lifetime manipulating people around him and perfecting the hiding of his flaw except for minor lapses like Hawaii. He is the combination of obfuscation and relativism writ large.

I tried watching this interview but couldn't make it to the end. Obama just won't answer tough questions. He goes off on sidebars, regurgitating his talking points, and gets downright rude when he feels he's being interrupted or asked something difficult. I counted at least four "Let me finish" bursts from him in what I was able to watch. I thought the interviewer was showing an appropriate level of respect to POTUS, but Obama showed him very little in return.

Obama really is a very different president from any I've seen before. Reagan, both Bushes, and Clinton all maintained a certain level of optimism, even in their darkest times. Reagan positively glowed it. Bush 43 often spoke of his joy and honor in being president. Obama, though, seems increasingly surly, taking an attitude of, "I know best; who are all these people questioning me? Don't they know I'm president?" He lectures rather than discusses; he dismisses rather than listens. He's a very small-minded man in a very large job, and it's noticeably wearing on him. What's he going to be like in another year?

Earthquake in Chile, caused tsunami which affected all in the Pacific, including Hawaii. It's 50/50 whether it's a gaffe or just a condensed way of saying that an earthquake affected Hawaii.

I watched that CBC piece regarding Obama going into the "lion's den" of FOX news. It was shamefully unprofessional and biased. Truly disgusting yellow journalism at it's finest.

I watched it 'live' on FNC at 6PM eastern and it was the toughest grilling Obama has ever endured. Barry was tongue-dancing faster that a Riverdance leprechaun on St. Paddy's Day. His attempted filibuster of Baier and refusal to answer reasonable questions re-affirms his fondness for willfull weaselness. I miss Bush. He mangled the language but didn't dodge questions or filibuster the interviewer.

The only Irish Obama has in him is the blarney he tried to slough off as answers to real questions.
Bret Baier restored what little faith I had in "journalists" with good questions, backed up by facts and he didn't let the great "0" off with the jive talkin'. I somehow think though that the hard breaks they were running into was a White House call to rescue their leader from total failure.

As it is there will be more that a few WH statements to clarify a lot of the faux pas and "out of context" that slipped out.

I didn't watch it because I can't stand listening to Obama and his rhetorical manipulations.

He's a pathological narcissist; that's all there is to him. He's neither an American nor its president 'de facto'; only 'de jure'.

Well, Obama made it through without a teleprompter, so that's an improvement in delivery.

Substance, however, continues to lack. Either the president does not know what provisions have been approved or he's flat out obfuscating. Either way the Americans (hopefully) will smell a dead rat.

Huh?

Nobody in the 18,000 emails asked 'How did we arrive at this? Why are we continuing to destroy our economy by outsourcing to China?'

Stupid is as stupid does.

Mouth@3:15 am

As you might recall everything bad about Katrina in Aug of 05 was Bush's fault. Not Mayor Ray Nagin or Governor Kathleen Blancos.

Media had and was having a field day with it.

So what do you think Bush's reaction was going to be when any sort of disaster hit?

The Hawaii quake was a minor one as far as property damage and injuries go.

Yet Obama uses this to justify taking over 1/6th of the US economy.

Aw, Ward...

Poor li'l Bush - the mean liberal media picked on him him for letting an entire city drown! And sayin' the guy in charge was doin' a "heckuva job"!

So he was forced to call the Hawaiian earthquake a major disaster when he didn't even wanna! All because everyone was so mean to him!

Just like the mean liberal media made him the hated President in US history. And he only lied the country into an unnecessary war, causing tens of thousands of people to be killed for no reason, adopted the exact same torture techniques as used by the Nazis, and sent the country into a financial meltdown!

But everybody's so mean pickin' on poor li'l Bush, who we all know can do no wrong!

The Katrina card is second only to the Race card when playing the game of Political Bullsh*t Poker. together they can be finessed into getting whatever they want.

I was a bit surprised that the Blame Bush meme didn't come out more.

mouth - I must know; are you bleet? You sound just like him, and not having bleet to kick around for a while has left a void in my life.

On Topic - I made a comment last night that didn't post, but as I remember what struck me was "everybody knows what's in this bill" @11:35

nobody knows what's in the $@(&!ng bill!

And this after what he said @9:45: "By the time the vote is passed, not only I will know what's in it, you'll know what's in it, because it's gonna be posted."

Oh. But actually, Pelsoi's been putting it like that for a while.

And why wouldn't he answer questions about process/procedure, as if such things are beneath him, and, frankly, none of America's business? @2:07 - "what the American people care about is the fact that their premiums are going up..." blah blah blah.

(Also: there was a nasty earthquake in Hawai'i on October 15th 2006, so maybe he was referring to that. It is too much to believe that the Hawai'ian-born POTUS has mistaken Hawai'i for Haiti. He can't be that out of it).

Correction: @9:45 - "By the time the vote has taken place..."

EBD lays out Nancy-in-Wonderland @11:21

Yeah black mama

It's been established upthread that he was referring to the Hawaiian earthquake that Bush called a "major disaster" in 2006.

I know it's a challenge for you but try and keep up.

Where upthread?

Are you bleet? Don't lie, it's a sin.

O. M. G.

Like others here, I had a really tough time watching/listening to this. I got about 3/4s of the way through it, but it got too painful.

All platitudes. All bunk. All smoke and mirrors. All talk and no walk. All show and no go. All yada, yada, yada.

The only message was, "We've got to pass this bill. It doesn't matter what's in it. It's just important to pass it. Just because. It will be helpful. We'll save money [oh yeah?]. We'll help all the downtrodden. We'll stick it to the insurance companies. We'll let everyone see exactly what's in this bill before it's passed."

Haven't we heard this before? Did it happen?

Obama's pompous and disdainful tone of voice, his nudge, nudge, wink, wink, "we all know" condescension is utterly maddening.

How the Hell did the most powerful country in the world end up with such an arrogant pr**k as their president? The barometer's indicating some really rough weather and turbulent seas ahead.

To those that argue Bret was interrupting Zero...you have to remember that the reporters/interviewers are only given a short time to talk with TOTUS. So the game is for Barry to take the ball and run with it as long as he can 'cause he knows there's another tough question coming next and next and next. Baeir had to keep things moving or the Chicago mouth would have spent the whole interview giving a campaign speech without answering anything. The tide is turning against Obama and he knows it. There is no way he will get a second term. He has stolen the "Worst President Ever" crown from Jimmy Carter.
