In this case I think Newsbusters is going a bit hard on the New York Times.
It's likely that the editorial staff noticed the intersecting lines in the image, but just couldn't quite put their finger on where they'd seen it before.

Maybe it's just a slow news day, so the NYT decided to make some. It's not like it would be a first for them.
OH BAM Messiah !!
And the festival of chocolate bunny crucifixions just scant weeks away!?
oy!
maybe they think its a picture of the statue?

They pilloried Mike Huckabee for a similar stunt...

Actually this has been going on for some time.
I recall in the early '80s accompanying my dad(ne '05) to the doctor---in the waiting room were several of his peers---same age and generally grade-school education. And a nice young lady. For what ever reason I enquired as to her current grade or what-ever in school. Grade 13 she responded.....I inquired as to what history was being taught. Reply:
History...we took that last year....I got my credit!
Ok---what history? Modern, recent, Canadian, European ancient?
WW2----and the 4 major battles....
Huh? What 4 major battles?
Dunkirk, Pearl Harbour, Stalingrad and Kursk.
How about El Alemein? Midway?battle of the Alantic, Battle of Britain?
No but she did hear of the Seige of Leningrad.
You coulda dropped a pin and heard it in that room....
I saw that picture and saved it. Leni frickin' Riefenstahl is probably another name they can't place, right? Meanwhile these utter retards debate putting up pay-for-news firewalls on their websites, as if people are going to pay for crap they won't read when its given away free.
Not an extinction, its suicide. In fact, it isn't just a suicide. More like jumping off a bridge, into traffic, with a noose around their neck, drinking poison with one hand and shooting themselves in the head with the other.
In other news, the peasants (us) are finding ways to replace the MSM by doing a better job of what they are supposed to be doing than they ever did. From Slashdot today, a freeware, distributed reporting system called Ushadi.

Typical do-gooder wikipedia type thing, but it seems to be fairly functional. It allows Joe Sixpack to phone, text or email reports of whatever to a web site, with pictures and video, which are then linked on a map. It was created because some guy got P.O.ed at the violence in a Kenyan election and wanted to do something about it. Because the media wasn't doing it.
Even given the obvious potential for fraudulent info to be posted, could it possibly be worse than the NY Slimes? I think not.
A county is s land mass. When we refer to fighting for our country, it is not as much the land mass as it is the people who want to live in their own free culture that we are actually talking about.
with regard to the Iwo Jima blank out ... It is that sort of thing that makes me wonder why anyone would bother to go risk their lives for a land mass filled ingrates and fools.
Typical media group think - saving their messiah trumps all else.
Sasquatch:
I sort of agree with your point on the battles but Stalingrad and Pearl Harbour definitely would be top-rank battles. Also Midway and the B of B and the Atlantic. D-Day would obviously be #1 on a whole lot of levels.
But El alamein? A minor skirmish by comparison.
The big omission in most WW2 narratives taught in western schools is that in terms of bloodshed it was a Russian-German conflict with the rest of the combatant nations - Japan excluded - paying a relatively small price by that measure.
Thousands attend a tea party in Minnesota, not a word from CNN,tens attend a coffee party and CNN does a whole segment on it,from commercial to commercial.
One wonders why the NYT thinks it must point out that Jesus Christ is the Messiah of the Christian faith. Are Americans that stupid, or that multi-culti that they need to be told this? Or is the NYT just being sophisticated again and talking down to its readers?
Fitting, would that be the NYT's replacement messiah? Timely also, what with Easter just around the corner. Soon time to bake Easter bread.
Leni had more class than the NYT, but the bosses are much the same. She was just doing a job and was a first class pilot also.
Gord, I have to go with Sasquatch, as a British loss at El Alamein would have opened up the Suez and the Middle East for a southern stroke.
larben, its red meat for all the imbeciles in Flyoverland who still have Obama stickers on their cars. Of which I saw quite a few in Arizona last month.
Real live cult of personality, right before out very eyes my friends. There's still lots of Americans who are right into it.
Thankfully there are a lot more Americans who'd like to kick their sorry Barry-worshiping backsides. Tough luv, baby.
"The Thoughts of Chairman Mao"="The Thoughts of President Obama"?
"The Thoughts of Chairman Mao"="The Thoughts of President Obama"
What Chairman Mao thought President Oblambush was God too???
I wonder if the NY Times staff jump up & down with drums like Harri Krishna's used to for public ridicule. By seeing with progressive eye's. The visage of the lying one.
Joining in worship of Obama to heal the Earth.
He is all our martyr to a hostile World. The divine O.
You can't even mock these idiots anymore. They out do in stupidity what a comic genius could never imagine in a life time.
JMO
ummmm...gord...el alamien was a major turning point in Holland in WW2.And more Russians died then Allies or Axis combined.Yeah, they may have been commies, and actually the average fighting man was not,but we would still be fighting the Nazis if not for them.Lesser of two evils.Patton had it right.Get rid of Stalin, but Eisnwhore was a commie in sheeps clothing, sorta like the O.
On the O-pic ... what's to be surprised about...
On the Democretin politics ... same question.
On the Historical ignorance ... just ask yourself what year or decade it was that History was deemed an unnecessary subject and relegated to an option instead of being required as a core subject.
Last year I was talking about school with one of my nephews; he was in grade 8 at the time. He had not even heard of the Magna Carta...I would think that considering that alot of our concepts of governance came from that document that it would be important enough to be taught in a history class! By the way, I went to the same school 38 years ago... they taught me about the Magna Carta in grade 5.
I think the schools are too busy teaching the kids how to sing kumbaya to waste time teaching about the Magna Carta, 1st and 2nd World Wars, French and Russian Revolutions, the Cold War and all the other history that tells us where we have been.
Ken...whats that saying about those who don't learn history are doomed to repeat it?
you're doomed to repeat at least that grade it if you think El Alamein is in Holland
