Maher Arar

Blogger!

He’s ba-ack! Canada’s $10 million tool of the anti-security far left, Maher Arar, is now the proprietor of a new anti-security far left web site, “Prism Magazine“.

And look everyone - there's a poll!

Update: Used to be! An unexpected response from a man whose bravery is the stuff of media legend....

Update 2: (poll closed … thanks for your participation: we had several hundred times more votes than we did visitors, which indicated an automated hack directly through PollDaddy. We’ll restart the poll tomorrow after we add some IP security (one vote per IP address).

We'll be here!

(Dude had what ... 35 - 50 visits a day when I linked to him? You'd think he'd be happy for the traffic.)

I was #7... poll needs bump!

A great web site. There is no doubt that CSIS is complicit in the torture. This will one day come back to haunt Canada.

Can you believe the crappy poll set up? They have three responses to some alledged torture going on in Egypt. The first response is the Canadian agents are responsible for it, the second is they are complicit in it, third is they are just doing their job. All three responses imply that the
Canadians are guilty. Nowhere is there a response that the Canadians are not complicit or responsible. I take it this blog is controlled by graduates of some great Canadian university.

If I am all ittle off on the background, it is because I did not wish to waste my time discussing lefty lies with a lefty. Please forgive me for that; I wished to discuss the phoney poll.

CSIS are in place to protect all Canadians. If you step out of line then don't expect them to protect your rights. Let that be known! Maybe then we won't have people thinking they can get away with things just because they are Canadains.

Don't kid yourself, these people that CCIS are dealing with are not friendly everyday Canadians.

If true there idioT. hopefully CSIS will manage to find you. Look in mommy Kadhrs basement boys.

Direclty!

I think he speleld it wrong.

Canadians had nothing to do with behavior of people in other countries that live in social system very close to barbarism.
Canadian government has no authority to tell other governments what to do. It they did, the world would be paradise according to some idiots.
How would people like T accept for example the insistence of Saudi Muslim theocracy that this country should and must institute a law dictated by Saudis?
Of course in case of T that would be redundant.
Shit happens, as the saying goes.
As for the poll, Ol' Country Boy at March 2, 2010 9:21 AM, covered the essential point well, you can’t select the truth.

This whole brew-ha-ha is supposedly because when CSIS went over to Egypt they did not directly ask the alleged detained terrorist if he was being tortured. Somehow, according to the leftoids, this implied to the Egyptians that they could torture. it seems that the number one chapter in the Terrorism for Dummies is Claiming Torture for Fun & Profit.

Reading the article In Prism Magazine on Line I learned that Mohammed Harkat is "a short man with close-cropped dark hair." "He walks with a slight limp, the result of a childhood accident." "Mr. Harkat’s safety may be at stake in these proceedings. He has said that if he is deported to Algeria, his native country, he risks torture, or worse..."

And why? "...all that’s claimed is that the pizza deliveryman is part of a support network that permits other groups associated with the bin Laden network to operate."

The problem in the reporters mind seems to be that, "Mr. Harkat is claimed to be at least two groups removed from Osama bin Laden."

Oh and a witness is suggesting that. "...Mr. Harkat operated a guesthouse in Peshawar, Pakistan for terrorists in training."

I'm not sure whether the complaint in the article is that the connection alleged is too remote, or whether the complaint is about the unusual trial proceedure adopted to protect sources and investigation processes.

But I ask:

firstly, "isn't the aiding and abetting terrorists enough to warrant a guilty finding and punishment if proved?" and

secondly, isn't the court system a good way (the best way we have) to develop processes to let society do what its members enter into a social contract to do which is to protect its members from bad guys? If the approach the lower courts take is not open enough or deprives the accused of his legal rights, our court system is self correcting and will fix it.

What Harket is going through is part of the price people pay to be members of a society ruled by law. Look at the price paid by Steyn and the others fighting against the Human Rights Commissions. My only reservation about this process arises if the defence is funded by the Canadian taxpayer. Maybe Arar can use his wealth to set up a foundation to help out.

Canadian Muslim Detained In Mid-East, No Torture Involved

A poll with 3 answers:

Yes,
Yes,
Yes, indeed.

How do you spell 'rigged'? How do you spell 'mole'?

Arar, the lying, loathsome swindler! I have promised myself that if I ever meet him in public I will tell him to his face what I think of him.

It is a tragedy that we gave him a single penny.

How revolting that a magazine run by Arar would have the audacity to quote Benjamin Franklin on the front cover.

TJ- Do you think he cares what an infidel thinks of him? He doesn't need words, he needs action. Deport him, and take back our money.

I voted, but I, also, think the poll was rigged. All three answers imply that CSIS was involved in torture.

This whole brew-ha-ha is supposedly because when CSIS went over to Egypt they did not directly ask the alleged detained terrorist if he was being tortured.

That isn't part of CSIS's job to ask that question.
It is SOP for terrorists to always claim they are tortured in every case.

Imagine how the fast the welcome mat would be withdrawn by foreign nations if CSIS did ask a question like that?

Regarding the poll-94% for question 3 when I visited.

Big deal ... I hope he blows his 10 mil fighting old battles.

Arar should shut up and quietly spend his $10 million because the longer he is in the public eye, the more questions will be asked about why we gave this bird $10 mill. As Ezra Levant pointed out at the time of the settlement, no one ever saw or even asked to see the effects of the alleged torture on Arar's body. If he was beaten as severely as he claims, it would have left marks. Nope we just handed him $10 million. Dumb, Dumb, Dumb!

It is interesting that the US, even under apologist-in-chief Obama, continues to bar Arar from their country and will not apologize or compensate for yanking him off a plane and bundling him off to Syria.

The great tennis-playing philosopher Andre bin-Agassi once said "Image is everything." Perhaps Maher Arar, and his subject of interest Ahmad El-Maati, should take those wise word to heart and alter their travel plans accordingly.

Ahmad El-Maati's brother Amer is allegedly a member of Al-Qaeda who attended flight school and talked about hijacking a Canadian plane to crash it into American buildings. He spent time in Afghanistan, then visited Tehran, and then, while living in Pakistan, got a Canadian passport, which he gave to a man who used it to enter Azerbaijan in an attempt to blow up the American embassy.

All of this information is alleged, of course - it's possible that all the information, from different sources, is entirely fabricated. (*cough cough*)

Ahmad himself took electronics courses here in Canada, took lessons to become a pilot but quit because of a fear of heights. Then he, er, flew to Afghanistan to fight with the Mujahideen, went to Iran, moved back to Canada, went to Syria, came back to Canada where was stopped and questioned at the US border after being found with a map of Ottawa's government sites and nuclear and virus-research facilities - turns out it was left by a previous driver - then went back to Syria again, where his troubles began.

If my immediate family members were high-ranking members of a Columbian drug cartel, for example, and I was completely innocent, I would not be making frequent trips to the highlands of Bolivia and Columbia.

Here's my advice for people like Ahmad El-Maati and Maher Arar: when you get your Canadian passport, *stay in Canada.* - particularly if your brother is a most-wanted terrorist. Read a good book. Go for walks. Watch TV. Take line-dancing lessons. If you have an uncontrollable urge to travel, go skiing or scuba diving instead, or go to Ireland and kiss the Blarney Stone, or visit Carlsbad Caverns and put the bumper sticker on your car. Whatever you do, stop periodically disappearing to Syria, Egypt, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc.

Stop using Canada as a hotel.

"Stop using Canada as a hotel." Quote of the day, eh.

Hmm, closed the poll. I can't for the life of me figure out why! Gone horribly wrong I guess!

Looks like he's been busy deleting comments, too.

It would appear that Arar is using his monetary gains, at our expense, to further the jihad by other means, at our further expense. What a surprise, eh?

You would think Arar would be content to shut up and quietly use his $10M , rather than trying to drive his agenda ... speaks to the arrogance of Arar and his type.

It does seem strange that a good sample can be had in a poll open for only a few hours... then again it's in line with using a country as a sometime hotel as well.

"Colombia"

I had this in the comments but it was deleted, twice.

You deleted my comment.
Is that your Idea of justice?
Hobbling opinion?

Let's try again with a poll similar to yours.

Have you stopped beating your wife:

_____A)Yes.
_____B)No.

_____C)I'm just doing my part as a husband.

Don't delete it this time you coward.

Maher Arar is playing goalie now.

(poll closed … thanks for your participation)

Guess the poll didn't go so well.

Shine a light and a cockroach will always run.

You are #1 Kate.

Arar has a post up about Khadr as well. Naturally my comment pointing out that as an unlawful combatant the only right Khadr had was to be summarily executed got redacted.

I vaguely remember that Mrs. Arar was welcomed into the NDP and there was talk about her being an NDP Parliamentary candidate. Anyone got any info on that?

Mrs. Arar seems to have disappeared from the radar screen , to hot even for the dippers.

The poor bastard is so traumatized by the freeping of his poll that his lawyers are even now preparing a lawsuit to seek reparations for the online torture Mr. Arar has endured.

Mr. Arar's blog post now includes the following:

(poll closed … thanks for your participation: we had several hundred times more votes than we did visitors, which indicated an automated hack directly through PollDaddy. We’ll restart the poll tomorrow after we add some IP security (one vote per IP address).

I wonder if this is the work of the same hacker who stole the CRU e-mails.

Syncro

we had several hundred times more votes than we did visitors, which indicated an automated hack directly through PollDaddy.

Who knew you could "hack" by simply erasing cookies and clearing your cache?

I feel so insecure now...

Scary stuff Oz.

Syncro

A "PollDaddy Hack" to Arar is a "Kate Surge" to us.

Actually, hacking polldaddy is easy (http://www.rustybrick.com/hacking-polldaddy---faking-the-votes-of-the-contest-poll.html)

More than just clearing cookies.

Yes, that must be it. The poll was hacked to give Arar the least-desirable result in a loaded-question poll. Yeeees. Undoubtedly.

Pretty sure he was at the Tiger Woods Apologypalooza (second from left):

Ummm No, pun intended.

SDA isn't taking sides with French justice. If it were taking sides with French justice then Mr. Diab would already be in France.

Hey punnikins, does it hurt to stretch that far?

This POS is not wanted in Canada!

Dave in pa - yup, Mrs. Arar was a Dipper candidate in one election. I forget if it was 2006 or 2008.

Since Fox News came to Canada, mindsets have changed - back in the day of the Arar blackmail thingie it was nothing short of criminal to suggest that a foreigner like this could be a criminal - it was the HATE Bush era in Canada. Shameful period of our history, IMO.

As someone who actually followed the Arar case I can tell you that he WAS NOT grabbed in N.Y. and set to Syria to be tortured. Unless you feel Justice O'Connor was part of a G.W.Bush plot to cover-up 9/11 and had CIA witnesses spew lies all day long about Arar.
Arar was a Draft-Dodger from Syria based on his alleged story for leaving his homeland, while in Montreal he applied and got a Gun Permit just after the Gamil Gharbi mass murder of females for Allah's cause in 1989,Arar had a second home in Boston and attended a local Militant/radical Mosque the FBI was watching because of Al-Quada videos being handed out there.
Arar abandoned his family in canada to live near the same Boston Airport used for hijacking 9/11 Planes,Arar had ties to CAIR/CAIR-canada which now has up to 5 member in prison for Terrorism funding via a bogu islamic Charity that Arar claimed he almost got a job at.
Basically,we were played for sucker by the NDP that backed Arar's $400 million dollar Lawsuit against us for what Jordan did to him.
He panicked when the RCMP raided his home and found hidden DATA drives and Disks in the walls and attic , he also was coached by CAIR( Sheema khan)to not aid canada in exposing Momin Khawaja at the Arar's Mosque in Ottawa. Maher then fled canada with family to live in Tunisia with a family with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, when the Police over there began to move in it was Maher who once again abandoned his family by heading to the closest Airport and tried to enter the USA via JFK Airport (Maybe to meet with CAIR's Nehad Awad).
Arar was a lone/Muslim/male/young/Sunni flying from the Middle east on a Canadian passport( the Khadr's have boxes of them)landing on US soil and had a history of his time living in Boston and working for an American Company which the FBI collected,he was wisely stopped by a Custom agent to be questioned and his answers were evasive and vague at best.
He was refused entry to the USA and Tunisia also didn't want him back on any flight to make an asylum claim with his family still in that Nation, the deal was for his loving wife and kids to meet him in Jordan since it was the only Nation allowing him entry since his wife is Palestinian and Pro-Shariah law and Jordan has a big Palestinian population.
The early CBC interview with Arar details his claims of fair treatment and being flown to Jordan on a private jet free of handcuffs and really nice food, thos loving family member didin't meet him in Jordan but Bounty Hunters did and it was these guys who nabbed him and DID torture him for 2 weeks.
Arar was then released to new thugs that drove him home for a military trial,it was THEN his wife saw the gravity of his globe-trotting and chumming with suspected terrorists.
The NDP's Alexa McDonough and MP Layton will never talk about the missing 14 days in Jordan because the Syria issue was more juicy and better for bashing canada and the Liberals.
Canada had enough useful-idiots and the CBC who then reported on Arar with claims completely counter to CBC's first interview with him as if the research Dept. was axed.
His wife worked for the NDP and then ran in that same Anti-USA/Israel area for the NDP under Layton/Chow banners, ironically I saw the news where Layton met her on TV and she refuse to shake his hand as a filthy Kuffer male that offended Allah.

Read it for yourself folks and tried to disprove any of my claims from the Arar inquiry that was posted online in full Transcripts where Ms.Khan even mislead Mr.O'Connor with her bogus Islamophobia-Survey in canada .

'Ol Country Boy...You wrote: "Nowhere is there a response that the Canadians are not complicit or responsible. I take it this blog is controlled by graduates of some great Canadian university."

That's the tactic often used by the CTV news Web-site's poll writers.

"You'd think he'd be happy for the traffic"
...heh, like a dog with fleas

WOW, gary, thanks. I'm not informed enough to know how accurate your post is, but it certainly sounds like you've done your homework. Intuitively, I'm certainly with you.

My end, I just can't get over the complete lack of evidence that he was in fact tortured.

Passing thought: I wonder if this cat will pull an OJ and get in trouble later down the road. Heh, maybe he'll do a book: "What if I wasn't tortured?".

If I'd got that kind of loot out of the government I'd disappear like Karla Homolka (sp?).

Exterminate Taliban... and friends.

Dave in Pa - Mrs. Arar ran in the riding of Ottawa South in 2006, and was touted by Jack Layton as a "Star candidate". At an all-candidates meeting, she was asked how as a Muslim she could support the NDP's position on Gay rights, abortion, etc. She replied that she was told that she could abstain from voting if she didn't agree with the NDP's position! She came a distant third to David Mcguinty and Alan Cutler.

Me No Dhimmi wrote: "My end, I just can't get over the complete lack of evidence that he was in fact tortured."

Our politicians see the taxpayers as bottomless money pits, and the Arar award has set a precedent that others are itching to exploit.

Canada has a big "mark" on its collective forehead.
