Via Gay and Right I learned that the Swedish MSM have taken a stand.
The money quote from the referenced link:
Gunilla Herlitz, the Dagens Nyheter editor-in-chief, defended the reprinting of the cartoon as a legitimate part of the story of the day. “I believe that, in this case, the cartoon is a part of the news and therefore we would like to show the readers what this is all about. But the cartoon is published in a context and is not the leading picture on the page.”
Now, where have we heard that before?
Course, in the CDN version, the small magazine wasn't three national newspapers and so couldn't compete with the big gov't HRC apparatus and it's desire to destitute.
This one wonders if the Swedes have an HRC. If not, by Allah (MHNBP), they'd better get one!
Cheers,
lance

If I'm being attacked by ten guys, and some guy I don't know jumps in to defend me and knocks out four of them, I'm not going to criticize him, or say that he could have gone further.
In the vernacular - or actually, I guess less in the vernacular, and more to the point - the decision of two Swedish newspapers to publish the cartoons as an expression of solidarity with a gentle pink-skinned cartoonist who's under mortal threat for having pink-skinned beliefs is an entirely noble, courageous, forceful and commendable action, and I can't muster up any criticism of those Swedish editors and their staff for not disseminating the cartoons worldwide. The final battleground, ultimately, is the west, and the countries of the englightenment; that's the only thing we need to assert and mortally defend, the right to our own expressions and our own opinions on our own soil. If some Swede who has a family and loved ones and tow-head kids and friends puts himself at mortal risk because he's decided he's going to live or die with the eternal, imperishable diamond of truth in his heart, I'm certainly not going to complain because he's not making his expressions widely available in Pakistan.
If we're free in our home country, we're free. I'd die for the freedom of my friends and neighbours and loved ones, but I'm not sure I'd be willing to lose a toenail for Riyadh.
Or at least, I'd have to think about it. I guess it would depend on which toe it was.
There's been a very refreshing reaction in Sweden to the recent threats to Lars Vilks (the artist). Several MSM outlets have actually defended freedom of speech, without too many ifs and buts and excuses.
Promising indeed!
If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves”.
Winston Churchill.
We have an HRC(Hilary Rodham Clinton) that the Swedes could have.
What did the Swedes ever do to you Straight8?
Jeeeeesh.
Besides, I think pants suits are illegal in Sweden.

Upon further review, that was cruel. I apologize.
