Problem seems that Jimbo is getting too big for his closet.....can't get a man in there, dressed or otherwise.

Travers also hates Harper and constantly belittles and berates him. Facts? Travers is indifferent to facts. When I wrote to him some years ago chastizing him for such, he replied that he writes an 'opinion column'. Heh. I guess the term 'opinion' means you can dispense with the truth and simply vent your personal vendettas.

i long ago stopped reading his column or any newspaper, and don't watch CBC or CTV.

Jimmy's just doing his job like a good little Prog minion of the Media of Mass Deception.

Has Jimmy doddle head ever written a piece on the recent court rulings that concluded the Former Liberal Government violent Canadians abroad rights?? Any mention that our courts have found the former Liberal Government guilty of breeching Canadians' Human Rights via CSIS, everytime some toe jam brings up the fictional "Afgan detainee" issue we should be slapping those court rulings in their faces and demanding a full blown board of inguiry into the past actions of the Liberal Government. They actually broke laws and violated our charter but does MSM report that issue nope more drivebye smears of our military from Slime Stream Media.

Kudos to the intrepid cub reporter, Travesty, for putting the urinal in jourinalism.

You have to hand it to Travers, he's made a pretty good living with shallow thought but then he has had a very liberal employer.

I can't read Travers anymore. Within the first paragraph, I can pick out two or three inaccuracies about the Conservatives or PMSH, or both.

There are so many inaccuracies -- a nice way of referring to bigoted, untrue, and maliciously nuanced arguments -- in his columns, that one doesn't know where to begin to refute them -- nor does one have enough hours in the day in which to annotate his bogus claims.

As far as I'm concerned, Jim Travers has no credibility or integrity. He's a Liberal party shill.

When Jim Travers isn't pounding back quarts of vodka with his "sources" in the Lib/Sep/NDP alliance, he's usually co-ordinating (making up) his attacks with the co-alition war -room. Travers, like all Lib/Sep/NDP alliance supporters and mouth-pieces, is desperate to "get back to power", and if that means making things up and slandering individuals outside of the lib/Sep alliance and their agenda, then so be it... The creeps in the Lib/Sep/NDP alliance war-room decided their campaign of fear@smear would include citizens like Gen.Hillier months ago. In Travers mind, in co-ordination with the deranged minds of the Lib/Sep/NDP alliance, Gen.Hillier has to be smeared in order to bring his credibility into question all in an attempt at making the PM and the Conservatives wear the questionable policies of the Liberal government who set up the terrorist (detainee") exchange in the first place. Travers and his MSM comrades decided that the only credible testimony was that of Mr. Colvin, so any and all testimony contradicting Colvins assertions must be attacked and challenged and individuals smeared. Gen. Hillier is simply cannon fodder in the MSM's dishonest campaign at returning the Liberal/Separatist/NDP alliance "back to power".

That exception being one has to occasionally, after previous readings detox, read his garbage just often enough to see what he is thinking.

Never, and I mean never let the facts get in the way of journalistic(?) smear campaign. Mind you, anything that has a TorStar byline is suspect.

I always have a good laugh with James Travers appears on Question period or other media.

He tries so hard to play the nice guy, progressive liberal in the blue suit. Clear thinking, open minded - 'why wouldn't I vote for the Liberals after seeing this guy?' is the impression I percieve him trying to leave.

But it seems like you always get a glimpse of the real guy when someone shoots him a tough question - the furrowed brow, the nervous tension.

It seems to me the Star and Mr Travers have done a great job at taking a fairly mainstream readership a the star and bringing them pretty far to the left.

It also seems to me that they must be a very nervous group after the success of the olympics as their ideal Canada for imposing Trudeau's blueprint is one that is fractured, weak and empty of Canadian pride - pretty far from where we were under Mr Cretien..

The wringing of the hands & complaining, but staying/standing by to facilitate torture, or the past UN command of Genocide, are war crimes.

Recently received another mailed offer from "Rot Stern" for a goodly number of weeks of embossed fish wrap for less than a dollar a week plus tax. Was tempted, the distance from the front door to the recycling bin isn't that far and newsprint is getting to be a scarce item in any of them.

Then I heard my conscience channeling AGWhore:

Thankfully, that restored my priorities and gave a big boost to my battered self-esteem.

Ther's nothing wrong with being a Liberal party shill, or with having a particular view of the government and the military. It's a political opinion and we're a democracy.

But why-oh-why can't the journalists who cover these subjects at least sound like they know what they're talking about?

Will the 'detainee groupies' ever realize that to throw open every facet of our military procedures may be detrimental to our soldiers? They really are a shallow bunch,who are quite willing to endanger Canadian lives to score political points. BTW,there is a poll up at CBC that asks if the 'detainee' issue should be reason to have an election. I voted yes. Let's take this to the severely normal Canadians and get their opinion. There's a title of an article I read a few years ago in a great journal called "First Things" (the Anchoress has a connection, I believe) which I'll never forget: "Living as though you have enemies."

It wasn't a negative article, it simply made the case for knowing who your enemy is for your own health and safety, knowing who your enemy is so that you can make plans to combat their, at best, misguided and, at worst, malevolent plans for you.

Unfortunately, OMMAG, the kids in our "educational system" (sic) are being schooled to believe that enemies are friends and those who desire their good are the enemy. I call it "patting the snake." Even in children's literature, where certain symbols clearly denoted danger -- snakes, dragons, sorcerers, witches, etc. -- we've muddied the waters. Symbols are mixed up and our children are mixed up.

Like you say, we would do well to understand who our enemy is.

Come on, folks, its Travers and the Toronto Star. What do you expect? Fairness? Balance? Integrity? It's the Toronto Star!
