Heard this votes-for-water story yesterday or the day before on the radio. It's this kind of thing that pushes otherwise reasonable people into seriously considering taking up arms against (tyrannical) authority. I'm not even American, and this story sickens me to my core.

This is simply Chicago politics on a national level. It seems to work quite well.

I was listening to the radio in the car this afternoon (btw, great job on Adler, Kate) and I heard an excerpt of Obama giving a speech somewhere in front of a crowd. It was *eerie*. He was shouting, almost bellowing, in what to my ears was a very strange, almost foreign manner. It evoked circumstances from the last century, on other continents - his speech was amped-up, hostile, and had a threatening overtone. He's an openly power-mad king-pimp.

To those millions of addled fad-suckers who voted for Obama for some inchoate, touchy-feely, "right-on" reason that had something to do with atoning for slavery, all I can say is, congratulations. Maybe next time you'll actually look at a candidate's past associations, history, and qualifications - what a concept - before you mark your ballot.

To say Obama is the worst President ever would be to put him in the company of other Presidents, where he doesn't belong; the guy is an unqualified, narcissistic-bordering-on-sociopathic fifth-columnist who believes that the country belongs to him.

I hope he's severely curbed sooner rather than later, before he can do even more damage. He really, really should not be President.

This is so typical of what socialism is about -- control. Socialism wraps itself in the flag of "caring for the little guy"; of looking out for the interests of "the people". Yet the only people's interests they really protect are those of the socialist power elite. The one thing socialism openly promises, material well-being, is the one thing it abjectly fails to deliver. It creates poverty and ruin and through that poverty and ruin it creates dependency, and with dependency comes control.
From its very inception, this has been its modus operandi. In the Ukraine, the food was grown, but it was taken away and 6 million died. Land was available, but it was collectivized to the state. Fresh water is there to be sold, but socialists fight to let it pour into to sea. And there in California the water sits behind reservoirs and only those who do the Chairman's bidding will be allowed to draw from it. My question to the people of California who may think it worth trading control over their health care for a ration of their own water today is, what will you have to trade for a ration of that health care tomorrow?

However the congressman he was speaking to seemed to be very astute, and it game me some hope to see that there are at least some politicians who get it.

I never, ever miss a Glen Beck show because I learn so much; Glen is a true patriot; he cares about the future of his country, he cares about his fellow citizens. Here in Canada, we are feeling pretty smug because we have an intelligent, common sense adult as our Prime Minister but, in reality, we are balancing on a pretty shaky reed. Rudyard Kipling writes about such people in his books about the middle east and Afghanistan. Kipling advises fallen soldiers to use their last bullet to finish themselves off to avoid capture thus to 'face God as a soldier', instead of a mass of the quivering jello of a pulverized living corpse.

Secondly, Iam not sympathetic to the GOP. For YEARS they have tried to run from putting someone at the head of the party for this last presidential election who actually is a Conservative. Bush wasn't really, he was just an empty suit. Oh to wonder what Reagan would have done with these idiots!!
