Y2Kyoto: The Sound Of Settled Geography

Climategate... Glaciergate... WorldWildlifegate... Studentdissertationandmagazinearticlegate. Like I said, we're running out of gates...

The Netherlands has asked the UN climate change panel to explain an inaccurate claim in a landmark 2007 report that more than half the country was below sea level, the Dutch government said Friday.

According to the Dutch authorities, only 26 percent of the country is below sea level, and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) will be asked to account for its figures, environment ministry spokesman Trimo Vallaart told AFP.

The incident could cause further embarrassment for the IPCC, which recently admitted a claim in the same report that global warming could melt Himalayan glaciers by 2035 was wrong.

IPCC experts calculated that 55 percent of the Netherlands was below sea level by adding the area below sea level -- 26 percent -- to the area threatened by river flooding -- 29 percent -- Vallaart said.

Poldergate

The head of Toyota can stand up and admit a mistake, apologizing to the people affected,(sorry you didn't buy American}, but the charlatans, hucksters, junk scientists, snake oil salesmen, and great heads of IPPC's who have fraudulantly but gleefully taken taxpayers money to live the high-life with the GREAT SCAM globull warming, admit nothing! Gore Strong Suzuki Mr. Horny comb-over have real full bank accounts thanks to the 1500 dollar a month reporters that aided and abbetted this SCAM. How does that feel you stupid MSMer"s. This is a really big earth, only a lieberal or a moron would believe this SCAM, hope you fools that helped feel real enriched, and thanks to this blog and many others maybe some of the believers like Jon Stewart have been enlightened.

An excellent start to finish summary of this fiasco from American Thinker .

The IPCC probably doesn’t want to start admitting mistakes because there would be trouble (for them) if people started to realize that the majority of their reports come from (questionable) computer climate models, unsubstantiated reports from biased authors, or are simply factually incorrect. Its very difficult to convince people to buy into “Global Warming” or “Climate Change” when you’re forced to only use solid science; which is more often than not pretty open to interpretation.

As recently read over at WUWT: 'Gate-du-jour'

Apparently our future king, Charles, is miffed with sceptics. So much so in fact that he questions if GW is such a myth, then why have sea levels risen 6 inches?

6 inches! Launch the life boats!

Climategate: Is it Criminal ? . American Thinker is on a roll .

The real, serious problem is this:

> And, now that the IPCC and WWF have conceded their error, the eco-correspondents are allowing NATO
> and other dupes to vacuum their records without having to explain why they fell for the scam.

The wisdom is absent from the government.
There is a good Russian word 'vremenshik' which means "someone who knows full well his government position is temporary and acts accordingly". Our governments are 'vremenshiks' and don't care of governing wisely. They use their position to fill coffers of the immediate and distant family and retire: So long, assholes! (in Woody Allen's voice)

It makes sense. After all, they have been giving us the finger for the past 30 years.

The joke -- IPCC
Punchline -- They were caught with their finger in a dike.
:)

"The spokesman said he regretted the fact that proper procedure was not followed and said it should not be left to politicians to check the IPCC's numbers."

Why shouldn't politicians be the ones to check the numbers? After all, it was politicians masquerading as scientists who wrote the damn thing.

where did Charles get the idea of 6 inches. I think its more like 6mm in a century.

ya canna measure sealevel in a subduction zone like London or Holland or New Orleans.

More gates than Pearson International Airport

These guys missed their window. Al Gore was suppose to win in 2000 and the Dems would have incorporated AGW into legislation, and bada-bing bada-boom come 2008 they could have shown a reduction in GW, thereby; setting their dominance in stone for years to come.

Good thing ACORN was not in full bloom in 2000, eh ?

NOAA >>> to "our media partners".

None to Al Gore's Weather (AGW)?

The only 6 inches Charles refers to is his dream of having one in his pants

Shouldn't Vancouver and Kitsalano(sp) be under water by now? We can only wish.

Oh. And New Orleans could take lessons from the old Dutch on how to build below sea level.

Yeah first his X now him, makes me dubious about retaining the monarchy.....for anything other than display...like a baboon/monkey in a cage.

You are correct except subduction has to do with continental drift---plate techtonics.
Try SUBSIDENCE.
London or Holland or New Orleans and Bangladesh are deltas with settling sediments as their foundation.
Smaller Pacific islands settle as well...volvanos are composed of vulcanic ash mostly....which settles.....coral grows faster than the subsidence....Darwin figured that out a long while back.
Larger Islands such as the bigger Hawaian Islands have a lot of basalt/granite lava flows which don't compress/settle well----they are "high Islands"
Tuvalu and the Maldives are "low Islands"...mostly coral.
Establishing sea level is problematic....subsidence(settling), Isostatic rebound (Post Glacial), techtonic subduction and upthrusting really confuse the issue.
The IPCC cherry-picked 1 out of 4 tidal guages in Hong Kong....a known subsidence area....to set their sea level rise trend...."sea-level-gate".
The tidal guage in Tuvalu indicated a sea level decline-----the IPCC fixed that...they dispatched a team of graduate student researchers to rip out the tidal guage---problem solved!
