There shouldn't be "a lack of warming" if CO2 levels aren't falling.
They have been saying for years that CO2 forces a rise in temperature and that we have to be subjected to draconian measures which lower our CO2 output.
If it isn't warming anymore but CO2 output continues to increase, we don't need the measures they were trying to cobble together at Copenhagen.
Their models failed to predict this.
They vainly seek a narrative to explain this failure while continuing to peer through the lens of man-made CO2 direct correlation to temperature increase which they have defined for themselves.
While they try to explain it, they have renewed scrutiny on their "theory" and must open up their explanation to the appraisal of skeptics who aren't going to be silenced any longer.
They were flat wrong and aren't going to admit it until it is so undeniable that an admission is unnecessary.

believer, I expected lower Manhattan to be flooded
out any day. It didn't happen.

As for the Arctic "melt"

They keep showing an eroded road on the shoreline in the Charlotte's(Haida Gwaii) as an example of rising sea levels. that roadbed has been subject to tidal flooding since it was built 30 years ago. it hasn't changed.
