The slow-mo was especially beautiful. Such grace and strength.

Beautiful.I've always wondered why we say dogs are man's best friends.Horses are waaayyyyy more useful, and far more worthy.

Spectacular Vid.

Syncro

I remember that well. I also remember when Affirmed and Alydar were all the rage leading up to the Derby I think it was. It was a huge deal.

Kate, you gotta horse in your backyard?

Everytime I see a horse run like that it makes me cry. ;-)

So horses do leave the ground when running

;-)

Cavalry is to be feared.

I'm not a betting man nor do I go to the track but whenever I see a film or video of thoroughbreds racing my heart kicks into high rpm.

Spectacular Bid aptly named to be sure!

Mark Peters: "Cavalry is to be feared."

Hear, hear!

Cheers

Imagine the Bid - still world record holder of the 1 1/4 mile against Secretariat - still world record holder of the l 1/2 mile (Belmont) going head-to-head!

Who would win?

I say - Secretariat - by two lenghts.

We'll never know - will we?

Does anyone know what Secretariat's 1.25 mile time was in that Belmont race was???

Secretariat posted a 10 furlong fraction of 1:59 flat. Spectacular Bid's record is 1:57 and change. However, he equaled SB's world record for 10 furlongs while being pulled up after a 9 furlong race.
