Israeli-Canadian designed the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games medals
(via the Vicious Babushka)
The medals for the Vancouver Olympics are very ugly. The only ones worse were the ones in Salt Lake City (maybe Nagano, can't remember) that had the hole in it. Looked like a bagel... the winners got the silver and bronze so as to avoid the connfusion.

In other news: we've all been had.
A new book, The Lomborg Deception, makes the claim that Bjorn Lomborg in his book, Cool it, (which I personally enjoyed) was deliberately deceptive in his use of references. Apparently he cited papers whose conclusions flew in the face of his own. It looks pretty bad.

Climategate Meets the Law: Senator Inhofe To Ask for DOJ Investigation (Pajamas Media/PJTV Exclusive)
"Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) today asked the Obama administration to investigate what he called “the greatest scientific scandal of our generation” — the actions of climate scientists revealed by the Climategate Files, and the subsequent admissions by the editors of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Fourth Assessment Report (AR4).
"Senator Inhofe also called for former Vice President Al Gore to be called back to the Senate to testify.
“In [Gore's] science fiction movie, every assertion has been rebutted,” Inhofe said. He believes Vice President Gore should defend himself and his movie before Congress."

*Its quite a system that see's a career criminal recieving his 100th conviction at 2pm and being set free from incareration at 2:30pm.
But 2-for-1 justice has come to an end.
As of Tuesday recieving 2-for-1 time served while in custody awaiting trial is no longer in effect.
Quietly thanks to the Federal Govt's Bill C-25 the very landscape of the Justice system has changed.

*A must read, The comments to this article.
The esteemed Harry Reid, drumming up support for his new stimulus bill, has made two remarkable claims.
The first is that it will create jobs. What is remarkable about this is its predictive authority. The first stimulus bill has no verifiable data to show that it created any jobs. It saved bureaucratic jobs in various state govts but had no effect on the private sector. Yet Reid insists that his new bill will 'create jobs'.
The second claim, equally unsubstantiated but also glaringly illogical, is that it will prevent violence and abuse. You see, Reid declares that men (that's all men) who are without work are abusive, while women (all women) who are without work are not abusive. So, he's moved a 'hasty generalization' tactic, a logical fallacy, in to his attempt to get the bill passed. He wants you to pass this bill because it will prevent domestic violence. Now, if you vote 'no', this means that you support domestic violence!
Gosh. When will the voters kick him out? And the rest of his crew?

Commentary -- By Jeffrey D. Sachs
The attack on climate science
NEW YORK -- In the weeks before and after the Copenhagen climate change conference last December, the science of climate change came under harsh attack by critics who contend that climate scientists have deliberately suppressed evidence and that the science itself is severely flawed. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the global group of experts charged with assessing the state of climate science, has been accused of bias.
The global public is disconcerted by these attacks. If experts cannot agree that there is a climate crisis, why should governments spend billions of dollars to address it?
The fact is that the critics -- who are few in number but aggressive in their attacks -- are deploying tactics that they have honed for more than 25 years. During their long campaign, they have greatly exaggerated scientific disagreements in order to stop action on climate change, with special interests like Exxon Mobil footing the bill.
No it's not.
