Something contained within the Drudge link is another story about Dan Rather crying (literally) that nothing less than the White House has to "save" the press through the eventual creation of some poorly explained "public trust". He also bemoans the lack of war correspondents today.

The only thing Rather really wants to save is the dying liberal media. There are good war correspondents out there like Micheal Yon but the liberal media won't hire them because they can't be trusted to put the appropriate liberal slant on their stories.

Would be fun if Fox hired Couric to co-host with Sarah Palin.

I'm with you unclemeat. Let's say abc, nbc or cbs were to move to the right; maybe pilfer some fox employees. Sure the right thinking people would say it's the end of "objective" journalism. But I'd bet dollars to donuts they'd buy the stock.

Much like Obama says that people don't like his policies because he hasn't explained them well enough, perhaps the MSM hasn't explained the news to us well enough either.

I've had the extended cable pak including FNC for one month now and its not hard to see why FNC is surging. I go to MSNBC during Fox commercial breaks and I'm appalled at the tone of Matthews, Olbermann and 'Ed.'

Along with freerepublic.com, I find FNC's coverage of congressional politics exciting. Scott Brown's victory in MA was a fine example of, IMO, fair coverage. And there's an entire electoral season just ramping up. Our HoC can stay prorogued as far as I'm concerned.

Agreed Dennis, that is the play; although I'm not sure that BO has the political capital(actually I know he doesn't) to move on the "anti-speech" agenda which is what Dan Rather is suggesting. In the leftoid not so perfect world, liberal news would be publicly subsidised up to 100%, whereas all other news would not. Of coarse in the perfect liberal world, there would be no competition for liberal news… and don’t forget the subsidies.

All we watch is Fox anymore, on Fox you get the angry lefties like Ellis Henican, Lamont Hill, Kirsten Powers, Thompson Joe Klein etal every night, be it on O'Rilley, Hannity Greta or Beck, Fox lets these idiots rant on, and show the viewers the stupidity of their thoughts and the angery faces they hide behind, great station, if only I did not have to pay for the pathetic CCCCBC stations to get Fox. In Canada we are force fed the angry faces in newspapers, Weston, Martin, Omalley, Travers, on TV, Mansbridge, Boag, Fife the magic news-fairy etc. We have to indirectly pay these losers wages, sad. I saw that too Dennis, from the guy who may have done more than anyone to kill the credibility and therefore the viability of the liberal MSM product, "Taxpayer we implore you, save us from ourselves". I got FNC 4 years back, and haven't bothered to tune into CBC news even once since then.

When they lose HNC on saturdays, they'll only have their relatives watching that leftist propaganda they shovel as news.

Alienated - here in Calgary, they reassigned the TV channel number a few years ago. I have to admit I barely visit the 3-16 channels, ever. I don't even know what channel CBC is.

Spoiled by six years of fox News in Texas, the first thing I did up here was make sure that fox News was in my cable bundle. I had to include MSNBC too but I don't think my remote will even recognize that channel selection.

Last night Olbermann was bragging that MSNBC is the # 1 news network aside from Fox. Well, even if that is true, that still puts him way down the list since Fox has the top six or seven shows.

But the last ratings listing I saw, Olbermann wasn't even ahead of Joy Rehab and her lame show.

And as for Chris Mathews, I forgot he was a news show host for about an hour every night.
