On a lower level I am heartened to see at least the camera folk were there getting footage that would later be dumped. It won't be long before they don't even send anybody out to a story unless it is sanctioned by the White house.
I feel sorry for the many people who grew up believing that the "NEWS" was indeed the news and not somebody's agenda.
If Lech Walesa showed up in my town, I'd remember the day. I guess his astounding achievements of helping to bring down communist tyranny just don't matter.
"CBS News employees are bracing for a significant round of layoffs that will hit the news division next week, according to multiple sources. The budget tightening is expected to affect every newscast, including “60 Minutes,” the network’s crown jewel, although that show will likely suffer minimal losses.
People familiar with discussions about the cuts inside the news division have heard that the total number who could lose their jobs could reach as high as 100, or 7% of the approximately 1,400-person staff. A news executive disputed that, saying the final figure would be considerably lower."
Obama continues to save the important jobs. Is there nothing he can't do?

His achievments mean less than nothing when your ultimate goal is to develop a whole new communist tyranny.
Perhaps the Chicagoland MSM big shots are concerned that more balanced coverage would impact the premium rates for their corporate health care plans, if you get my drift.
Yes, Doowleb. I forgot for a moment that we were not living in a meritocracy but in a world where a "community organiser" can be the leader of the free world.
It's astonishing that such a blockbuster historical event was ignored by the Big Old Media.
What's the matter, couldn't they find anything to use to "discredit" Mr. Walesa somehow?
They'd find it very difficult to do that, including the labor unions. After all, Walesa was a workers' rights crusader and hero, as well as an anti-Communism crusader and hero.
I suspect that they chose to ignore, and to hold back their SEIU Purpleshirt terrorists, as then they'd be opening up a can of worms and being asked by folks like you and me "How come Communist countries don't allow unions, but non-Communist countries do? If Obama socializes America, why wouldn't he, too, abolish unions, as they're illegal in socialist-totalitarian countries?"
Nothing to see here, obviously. Much more important to tell us which celebrities, um, claim to swing between sausages and tacos.
Hmmm.... Lech Walesa as I recall ... was more interested in getting the Russians and their puppets out of the Polish realm ... than he was in diminishing communism or socialism.
Hoever, credit where credit is due... his crusade against the state in Poland did result in real democracy and a much freer economy.
As for the MSM .... they are completely in the tank for the Democrat machine.
Never thought to see the day American news now looks so much like the Canadian Verity. Socialism all day all the time. Hide the Conservatives or make them clownish.
Toe always the Liberal line no matter even if your pants are caught down.
Follow every socialist fad no matter how absurd, while bashing all things Jewish or Christian.

I lived in Germany for three years. I certainly formed an opinion about German politics but I never expressed an opinion. As a foreigner, it was none of my damned business.
Why is it that ferners feel they have a DUTY to take interest in, express preferences, and even participate in our elections? I'm sure they link it to our disproportionate imperialistic influence over their lives, but in reality a German, Frog, Pole, Czech or Norwegian only gains from a strong America despite their socialist bluster.
Yes, if the almighty Bono (ugh!)was flapping his lips for a Lefty, we'd have to unplug the TV after the 100th replay just to avoid hearing it again.
If Lech Walesa came to my town, I'd expect the media to cover it. Even if he was just there to pick up a quart of milk.
"The champion of Polish freedom tells America it's no longer that shining city on a hill. As it slouches toward socialism, he warns, those yearning to breathe free in the world can no longer look to the U.S. for help."
"Last Friday, Walesa was in Chicago campaigning for a GOP gubernatorial candidate in the Illinois primary who happened to be Polish. Arguably the father of Polish democracy, Walesa knows a little bit about tyranny, socialism and the slippery path to both, and came to warn us about the path we've been on.
In a press conference, Walesa commented on an America that seemingly apologizes for everything these days, cajoles rather than confronts the thugs of the world and is embarked on a path to shackle beyond redemption the free economy that led the Free World to victory.
He no longer thinks we are the last best hope for mankind."

Why this blog? Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice
of an ordinary Canadian
yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

I can't answer or use every
tip, but all are
appreciated!

I thought the if-Obama-can-campaign-in-Europe-foreigners-can-support-campaigns-in-the-US remark in the comments was a good one.
...and if Michael Moore can stick his fat snout into our federal elections...
I wonder if there would have been any coverage had he endorsed the Dem's nominee.

No liberal bias in the Anglophone West's MSM. Nah, nothing to see here, folks, move on...
Sounds like the local TV stations in Chicago are all CBC affiliates.
An "Inconvenient Truth"....
The machine grinds on......

i heard Walesa speak once....and a very compelling speaker he is....in fact he was so captivating i actually forgot he was Polish.
only during the speech of course...after the speech i remebered he was Polish.

Funny bit of news I heard this morning...along the lines of "McGuinty thinking twice about prorogation based on flack Harper received".
Hahahahaha. As if.
Gorbachev came to my kids highschool in Calgary once.
I didnt see him , but it still rings as one of the most unusual things ever.
(sigh)

I covered this story days ago, too.
