It would seem the National Enquirer is now covering real stories (the Edwards affair) while the "MSM" cover the phoney ones (global warming).

And the MSMs wonder why their broadsheet sales are falling.

Kate's "Small Dead Animals" Blog has been at the forefront of the Global Warming Hoax for longer than any MSM anywhere and particularly on the corrupt CRU falsified stuff in the past few months.

MSM is just now playing catchup.

The long ago soiled 'ENRON' hatched carbon trading scheme ( do you remember that corrupt lot? ) is still alive within the world's super powers and needs the attention SDA on the internet is willing to give it.

However I will tip my toque to Lorrie Goldstein and Lorne Gunter in that regard, but the National Inquirer and SDA may have to carry the can on that one to wake up the rest of the world to the foul Carbon ( Hot Air) Trading Ponzi scheme now consuming nations!

I think the NE is one of the most enjoyable papers to read. Fact is that they have done some real solid investigative journalism too.

So the NE gets a Pulitzer for what? Reporting. They're handing out prizes for merely doing the job? A modest proposal: The Pulitzer Penalty, awarded yearly to all those "journalistic" malefactors who don't do their job.

A NE win would perhaps wake up the MSM that they are not doing their jobs and the selective reporting and wire service article re-printing system of news gathering is not quite getting it done. Oh wait.... Edwards is a Democrat, as such this assault on his privacy and small and insignificant indiscretion is none of the media's business,....so never mind, the NE will never win and nothing will change, now had he had a (R) after his name and/or his name sounded like say Palin for example, then all holy hell would be breaking loose in the form of Frontpage Headlines and mock-umentaries on NBC for the past what 18 months or so that this story has been out there.

The reason is that Conservatives have strong family values, Republican politicians claim to but are not so hot at living it sometimes, Democrats claim no such value system so for them a cheating Democrat Politician husband is as American as the Flag and is not even a barrier to the Whitehouse. Bill Clinton anyone?? That is why Democrats get a pass and Republicans are burnt at the stake in liberal media. Fair? not so much, but that is the reality of it.

I would like to start a contest or prize for the Most Egregious Leftish Bit In a Movie. I don't know how many times I have rented or seen a movie and suddenly as I am enjoying the movie there is some leftish bit of propaganda inserted.

For example the totally untrue summary of the message of Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead as rabid selfishness in the Dirty Dancing movie (the college student waiter who brandishes the novel later abandons his pregnant girlfriend). Or the numerous villains portrayed as Dick Cheney look-alikes (the vice-president in the The Day After Tomorrow). Or bits about the people having to prove they are not communists (Julia and Julie) and their careers are ruined. How many movies have featured the House Committee on Un-American Activities or Joe McCarthy?

Then there is the historic revisionism that seems to be obligatory in so many movies. I loved the movie starring Renée Zellweger "My One and Only" which was based on the live of George Hamilton, but did we have to have the summary of the horrors of the cold war mentality at the beginning, not to mention one of the mother's dates who was a military psycho?

Nicola-I find myself switching off many movies, and many TV shows, when they go off on one of those tangents. I don't go to theatres any more, for that very reason.

They busted Gary Hart back in the day. They deserve the Pulitzer as payback for the abuse they recieved for doing that.

They're in the running for the Edwards story?! What about the incredible two-headed baby? Now, that's journalism!

The MSM always treads carefully in the coverage of billionaire Democrats/plaintiff lawyers like Edwards. He made his pile courtesy of congress's revisions to laws regarding class action lawsuits which were obviously very pro-plaintiff attorney. Who would have guessed?

Okay, I'll say it! What we have here is a conservative Christian who is offended by a liberal Jew. Nothing extraordinary about that is there? I'm willing to bet that Seth, despite his Celtic last name. is Jewish too. The Jews continue to be offended by T.S. Eliot, Graham Greene, Gilbert Keith Chesterton, Ezra Pound, Henry Ford and a thousand others including Pius XII. Nothing changes.

There was a time when the National Enquirer was widely derided as a publication that just printed crap "news" and having ones scientific paper equated to the NE was one of the worst insults a scientist could bestow on another.

I don't read newspapers or watch TV news and now get all of my news coverage from either a few select blogs or online searches for a topic. The Western Standard used to be my primary source of general news but it's unfortunately no longer around. I'm not about to start reading the NE just because the precipitous decline in the quality of the MSM has made the NE one of the most trustworthy papers out there now. I do admit that I do sneak a peak from time to time at the National Post which is delivered to the doctors lounge ocasionally and have been impressed with climategate coverage the last few times I read it.

The fact that the NE is now considered more authoritative than the vast majority of newspapers means that extinction for most of the dead tree media is not far off. My only concern if this happens is what am I going to put down under the cats pan or to protect the floor when I paint walls?
