I wonder what is the next tactic. We, as humans, seem to be vulnerable to quite a number of scams.
There's the Utopian Scam. This operates as an If Only idea. If Only we would do such and such, THEN, life would be forever perfect. These If Only tactics can be anything from drinking 8 glasses of water a day, to eating only raw food, to forbidding books, to killing all infidels and to rejecting machines...
Then there's the Leveling Scam. It's nestled inside the Utopian. It's just more specific. This is the notion of homogeneity. If Only we were all alike, then, there'd be no dissent, no problems, no anger. So, if everyone has a new car, then, everyone would be happy. If everyone has the same medical care, then, everyone would be both healthy and happy.
Oh, what about the Last-Past-The-Line scam? It's part of the Leveling Scam. This one punishes anyone who wins, who is first. So, if the west industrializes then they ought to be punished by being forced to hand over their wealth to the ones way back in the field.
The problem with all these emotional ideologies is that they exist in the imaginary realm. They have nothing to do with reality, for reality rejects perfection and utopias. Reality rejects leveling diversity to the frozen homogeneity of jello. Reality acknowledges not only differences of attainment but promotes them.
Since we humans always fall prey to utopias and to scams, I wonder what the next one will be?
Watch for Jim Prentice to be shuffled out of the Environment portfolio in the not too distant future.
This is not going well. What bothers me most, is the prospect of being penalized for not adhering to all the items on the list. For instance, smokers are already severely penalized, overweight people are the new target, next dental benefits; despite paying the premiums for a plan, benefits will be denied to those that do not brush their teeth in accordance to the guidelines set out by the CDA. There are already penalties and rewards depending on how much natural gas one uses to heat their home, have showers, or wash their clothes. It is impossible for anyone to not to foul in some catagory and recive the penalty.
Prentice and the cpc will neither increase Agw laws nor repeal or change position on it until there is some kind of international consensus on which side is correct.
For at least a couple of months now prentice and the cpc have been shaping the rhetoric to talk more of adaption (to climate change - man-caused or otherwise - rather than CO2 reduction. Expect a higher profile of that kind of talk in the coming months.

Credit where credit is due - Prentice was on Rutherford last week and he didn't once refer to plant food as a pollutant. There might be hope for him after all.

That is a tragedy of monumental proportions. How are the young, indoctrinated people going to meet the truth and realize that the settled science, isn’t.
Those young people, like me, have access to unprecedented amounts of timely information from the internet. Many are both curious and jaded. The public school indoctrination machine just isn't what it used to be, so I wouldn't despair so greatly.

I'm with Cytotoxic, I don't find much evidence of brainwashing in the school system, even though students are bombarded with progressive and AGW garbage. The New Media has destroyed the ability of the elites to prevail. Only in Universities, and then only to a limited degree, do the elites who seek to dominate the brains of our young hold sway.
If there is a dominant force in shapeing young minds, it's popular commercial culture, like Hip Hop, but the influence there is limited as well. I've find that most young adults who spout progressive or AGW nonsense are quick to backtrack when faced with calm and reasoned arguement; or once they get a real job and are taxed. Most everybody appreciates truth; and hanging onto their own money.

This whole climategate thing which we were assured by the MSM is just a tempest in a teapot keeps getting better and better. Now that Jones has admitted that there was a medieval warm period, the warming we experienced is no longer unprecedented. The fact that we and the polar bears are here constitutes rather strong evidence that global warming is good for the planet.
It's time to start playing hardball with governments and the first place to start is with moonbat Campbell's Lieberals in BC. The carbon tax that they have put in was based on fraudulent information and hence should be prosecutable as a fraud. Probably a personally laid criminal charge wouldn't get very far but there are other ways. I've kept every one of my natural gas and hydro reciepts since these idiotic taxes were brought in with the expectation of someday using them against the lieberals. Class action lawsuit anyone?

sign me up Loki. BC's Carbon Tax - of which Campbell had no mandate to implement - means that the colder it gets, the more I pay in Carbon Taxes (to heat my home)to save the planet from Global Warming.
Never mind that it was a cynical lie by Campbell and the Libs, even if they did beleive it the amount of c02 reduction that it will result in is statistically immeasurable.
Id' like to say it's equivelant to removing a droplet of water from a swimming pool - but that is probably being overly generous.
BC does have a Conservative Party. My recommendation was to make it a key platfrom plank to state unequivocally that AGW was a fraud and that they would repeal the Carbon Tax.
They would not have won - to small and unorganized - but they sure would have picked up some votes and positioned themselves for the next election. Even they were too afraid of media backlash to do so.
Hopefully they will be more open to taking a firm stand now.

This was brought home to me last week when my friend related an incident that occurred on a recent road trip in which they were accompanied by their eight year old grand-daughter.
Somewhere in the vast expanses of Saskatchewan, he opened his window to discard a tiny piece of dental floss.
Well! The tirade began: "You're harming the environment! You're destroying our wetlands!"
This, of course, needed to be explored a bit as the youngster was only a generation removed from her rural agrarian base. It didn't take long to find out these, and a lot of misguided ideas, were the standard fare being shovelled in her school.
And of course, much of the rest of the trip was spent messing with the the little moonbat's mind.

I just came out of the public school system a few years ago. Yes, it was bad, but I have a perspective you don't and I tell you there is, thankfully, some cynicism in even the centre-left of the student body.
Hell, in UVic, there was practically an uprising when the UVic Student Society tried to ban the CF from the job fair. And recently, there was a successful and pretty popular pushce at the AGM to repeal anti-sorority/fraternity language in the UVSS constitution, much to the chagrin of the femi-nazis present. I'm telling you, the indoctrination machine is not what it used to be. Parents are also important in telling their kids what's what. I believe 80% of children take after their parents set of political beliefs.
