Oh my ... they don't love us anymore:
A new poll says the world thinks a lot less highly of Canada than last year, thanks in large part to our poor showing at the Copenhagen climate change conference and a problematic prime ministerial trip to China.Clearly, the negative vibes from the global community have some of our leaders shaking ... but one needs to ask, how do we reconcile it all with THIS?A BBC World Service poll of public opinion across 18 countries released this week found that people's view of Canada's influence has worsened during the last year, particularly in the U.S., Britain and China.
The poll of more than 20,000 people, which was conducted by international polling firm GlobeScan, showed a decline in Canada's reputation around the world for the first time since tracking began in 2005.

Yes but maybe the Poles will love Canadians more on the Olympic ski hill, where our glaciers are not melting!!
Useless puff pieces, who would acknowledge such tripe...

Let's see.
Canada is one of four countries to sign onto Copenhagen and they're being slagged for it.
Yep, this activist stuff is so appealing. Just slag, slag, slag.
Why do I care? I don't aspire to the world's good opinion.
And as much as the softies of the world want to slag Canada, they certainly will take our water, lumber, money, good will and golf courses.
What I'm trying to say is that the crybabies can bite Canada's collective bum.
Let's see: France, the U.S. (that's Obama's America), and China, apparently, think less highly of Canada.
Just look at their politics and feel proud, Canada, that we don't impress these less-than-stellar regimes.
('Wonder if Mo Strong, who's hiding out in China to make another fortune off the backs of honest, hard-working Canadians, has anything to do with China's disenchantment or if it's just PMSH's principled stand against their dismal human rights record that did it?)
And Oliver Martin is ... who?
I can't imagine US, France, or even Hungary giving a damn what this polling organization thinks of them. It will however, resonate in Liberal/NDP circles, and on the CBC/CTV. I say it is a start.
Who cares what a world full of retards think?
More slagging of us from the USA:

If Whole Foods Markets and Bed Bath & Beyond (beyond rational thinking perhaps) don't want to buy from us, I won't buy from them.
That popularity poll....seems as if it was conducted at the Copenhagen farce?
RESIST THE NEW WORLD ORDER
From what I see of the world from my armchair, I will take Canada anyday...before trying to impress everyone else let Canada deal with her own problems and let the rest of the world try and improve theirs
Obviously the big Canadian media still believes in the whole Global Warming scam. This on p.B3 in the Vancouver Sun, owned and staffed by Global News/Canwest: "Device detects those who suffer most from global warming heat waves". Of course, mybe it is all a spoof?
Thoughtfully tucked into the next to penultimate sentence is "Despite this recent drop in our popularity, Canada is expected to remain among the most positively viewed countries when results on the way other major nations are perceived are released by the BBC in April. "
Not only is the whole thing worthless, agenda driven drivel, they are showing only a little tiny sliver of the whole picture. Typical "journalism" as it is today, the only way CTV is better than CBC is that they don't suck up as many of my hard-earned tax dollars.
I'd rather be right than popular. Now we just need our environment minister to stop listening to the leftist staff under him and look at real facts.
Just got back from new zealand. Guess what the Greene's there are telling them? That they have lost the respect of the world because of their polluting way's. Asked them what they thought of our oil sands? The answer was, what are tar sands? They never heard of them! liked and respected Canada!
I think its going to take a year for the MSM to get off the climate change bandwagon. other than CBCpravda who are stuck on stupid.
"In the U.K., those who saw Canada as a positive influence fell from 74 per cent to 62 per cent, and in Australia from 77 per cent to 72 per cent."
This is a darned good reason to NOT allow any immigration from those Countries!
We'll just take 'em from the Middle East and Africa, where they DO love us, I think.
Everybody loves a doormat with welcome written on it, no wonder the world has loved us so much for so long. It would seem all the lib left sub servant types are uncomfortable with an actual leader. They think leading is consensus, following the one in front, then pissing on the same hydrant. Is political cleansing an option?
This, "I won't like you" game from the left usually stops by grade six. That was the constant cry in the US under "W". Wasn't that one of the reasons Obama got in? So more people would like America. When you step back and look at it. Being drawn in to even care about such juvenile nonsense should be embarrassing. But the smart set seems very concerned. The left and their more highly evolved intellect seems to have somehow got stuck at a high school level. And none of that even addresses the GW fraud they've fallen for.
Translation of the world thinks less of Canada: the leftists think less of Canada, which actually is good news. Time to celebrate!
Really...does anyone really care what some else (read "progressive") think about the premiere country in the world today? Am I proud to be Canadian...you bet. Currently we are not having nightly "carBBQs", starving, freezing or lacking some semblance of medical care. The world Olympics are set to dedut in Vancouver, The Cons are currently back up in the polls, although too slim for my comfort, and the Leafs beat the Senators last weekend....life is as good as it can be in this sheity world.
My first inclination was: Screw them.
Then I took a step back and reflected...
Nope, right the first time...SCREW THEM
I couldn't find any mention on Canadian sites about last year's poll which said:
"Notable increases in positive views of Canada have occurred across the globe..." and "Widespread majorities continue to give positive ratings of Canada..."
I guess it wasn't news a year ago but when ratings go down they're all over it. And nowhere in the poll are respondents asked the reasons for their opinion so any mention of Copenhagen and Harper's China trip is pure speculation on the part of Oliver Martin.
It looks to me like the 2009 poll might have been an aberration. The ratings in this year's poll aren't much different from the 2007 results (Canada wasn't in the 2008 poll). But the graph released with the poll only compares this year with last year and not any previous years.
Despite that, when you examine the results for any country you will see that year to year swings of 15% to 20% are pretty common. It makes me wonder about their methodology.
Last year's poll results are here:

"Canada’s image lies in tatters. It is now to climate what Japan is to whaling… This thuggish petro-state is today the greatest obstacle to a deal in Copenhagen."
- George Monbiot
"One can only hope so. I’ve waited my entire life for 'Canada’s image' to 'lie in tatters' and, if it takes laying the entire planet to waste, I say go for it."
- Mark Steyn
Heh.
I doubt that most people outside Canada, if they
are aware of our existence, have the faintest idea
of the official government policy on climate
issues. The article is largely or wholly bogus.

If the rest of the world is ticked off at us, good. Our economy is healthy, we're nowhere near bankruptcy, we provide the US with most of their imported energy, and we're starting to actually become proud of ourselves.
To the rest of the world: "Suck it up, princess."
Personally don't care what anybody else thinks. In fact, I'm sick of the igloos and Mounties crap and if I see a foreign dignitary or international athlete receive one more freakkin' inukshuk I'm gonna puke.
I don't believe a bloomin' word of it.
My London born spouse was in England this year. She found an absolute lack of mentions about Canada generally. People were only too willing to talk when they knew she lived there.
They did not know the name of the Prime Minister.
On a note of interest, she had taken on a previous trip, four years before, a copy of Sault Ste Marie's "Townies"- a fairly new magazine. It has memories and old photographs.
A young woman at Chelmsford, England was from Sault Ste Marie, and was pleased to get the magazine. A small world.
We sent over five separate copies of "Townies" over monthly periods this time.
Let us see now;
Some see it as a dilemma between being liked and prosperity.
I would suggest, take the prosperity, when others watch, they will like it.
As the song goes “you can’t please everyone, may as well please yourself”.
It is a life guarantee, there are those that will not like you what ever you do, for others you don’t have to do anything at all and you will be liked.
What the hell.
So what ... tough cheese.
The only international vote that matters is how people vote with their feet.
I don't see a lot of people wanting to emigrate from Canada to Poland, or any other country in the E.U., even France which at least has nice weather and good wine.
In fact, there is only one country that most Canadians ever consider emigrating to, and that is the even more despised U.S.A.
Every other person you meet in some parts of B.C. has just come here from Australia, for example; now they haven't come for the weather, that's for damned sure.
What I would tell these countries is simply this, if you don't like us, then you pay for the damned United Nations and we'll stay home.
So according to those who brought us Glowbull warming the world doesn't like us. You know I've typed that line 16 times now but gales of laughter caused computer timeouts so I was kept from posting it.
If laughter truly is best medicine, statements like that are extending my life by eons.

I guess this means we'll be selling less seal skins and Bay blankets then?
Good thing the market on beaver hide stove pipe hats has tanked already.
Does this mean that they didn't include Haiti in the poll?
A bit on and off topic. I just felt it was right to post in here.

It may be that your media has more to do with the negative picture, since hope & hagen failed, then is a normal function of the press.. The media is anti-Canadian on so many issues
Is it to wild to think that the Prisoner abuse story is not about the Canadian political parties (It paints both parties the same), but is a plan by the UN/EU such that the story is picked up by the foreign press...(some communist down in South America made remarks which means he is plugged in)
Bad Canada.. Bad Canada.....Best have a raid and investigation at the CBC & CTV
From where do these polls emanate? No one asked me.
Awww. Poor Greenies from around the world are upset that even as the Canadian government gives lip-service to their fantasies, it refuses to kowtow to them.
Why, was that a tear I saw in the corner of Al Gore's eye? Dedicated, hard-working Greens, their dreams of a better (taxpayer subsidised) life evaporation in their sight. Does no-once care for those journalists, scientists and politicians who have dedicated their lives to spreading the word of Climate Change(TM)? Is there no-one left who is willing to donate to support their lifestyles?
Oh, Gaia! Oh, the inhumanity of it all! If this keeps up, soon they'll loose their standing and influence and have to live the proles, instead of ruling over those beastly savages.
Have the numbers of immigration request decreased since Copenhagen? To me, that's the only valid metric of Canada's ranking amongst countries.
As a Canadian who wandered around the world a little bit, I was always astonished to find that most of the regular people I talked to didn't know much about Canada, and furthermore didn't care.
A few residents of foreign lands who had had contact with NGO types sometimes recalled that Canadians were an important source of foreign aid, and did I know when the next truckload was coming.
One old Australian wanted to know why Canada stopped exporting the Maple Leaf truck.
We're not as important out there as a lot of stuffed shirts would like us to believe.
And I think that's a good thing.
Old people idiom in middle eastern people said
in order to know some one take short or long trip with them to know whether or not you like them or not or know them or not
if we have open forign policy now is the tiem people can notice who is conservative mentality is.
the question is whether orn ot are you allow or good to say some times all what you think frankly in public or save it to say it in private to them and find freindship first to listen to your advice second
whether of not human right in canada are respecting all people such multic culturism vs original english peopel in same degree if you are do it in differetn poles then you loose your accountablity of your word as leader
you can help or advice aboard when you already fix the same issue inside country not say it bluffing for bad impression
