New Favorite saying "you are probably a liberal ... and a knucklehead"

Re My Previous Comment

Replaces my now second favorite saying "Eat the Rich" when describing liberal populism.

Thanks for the post. I've just spent a pleasurable hour looking at his other work. Right On!

Is he related to Cliff Klavan?

But all this exists because, it's God's will.

Bravo!!!!

Ha ha! Very good. I'm sure Hollywood has given us enough material to make this a regular series....Knuckleheads!

Any doubt that media has an enormous influence and that people are highly suggestable......fades at the drive-in, at closing time, ...after a car chase movie.
Then there is OBAMANIA!!!!!

For all the reasons Klavin related, I watch pre 1980 movies and search for old books - just to keep myself sane.

Reality: the presidency of George W. Bush was so catastrophic that even Republicans never mention his name in hopes that his memory will just go away.

Culture: the presidency of George W. Bush was so catastrophic that even Republicans never mention his name...

Oh. wait...

[Troll-bait Mode On]

The Love-Hate relationship that the Left has for George W. is amazing. They think that his mere existence validates their ideals with no further explanation required. It doesn't. If your ideals were at all valid you'd be able to articulate them without invoking W. Dear God, how did these people spread their word before Bush??

[Troll-bait Mode Off]

Well, bull, I guess it isn't so much that invoking George W. 'validates our ideals', as much as completely INvalidates all of your 'ideals'. That's why Republicans would just as soon pretend he never existed, and that's why you're getting so pissy about me bringing him up here!

I mean: 8 years where you guys had free reign while bowing down and worshiping W like he was a god. Result: an unprecedented terror attack, two failed wars, the destruction of the economy and the adopting by the US of terror techniques used by the Nazis.

Small wonder you don't want to be reminded of it.

Actually, Marquis, that terror thing was planned before Bush got into office. And Bush had control of the economy for 6 years during which he managed to wage a two-front war under postmodern rules of engagement while turning around a recession and overseeing an economy with a growth rate equaling that of the 90's.

In the last two years of his presidency his party lost control of congress (which has the larger influence on the economy) Since then things didn't go so well.

Don't get me wrong , I don't think Bush is an economic genius like Reagan. He is only mediocre, on par with Clinton or H.W. Bush. He just isn't a disaster like Carter, Obama, (Nancy) Pelosi or (Chris) Dodd.

Klavan! His oeuvre ranges from excellent to brilliant.

Pete E:

I don't think Bush is an economic genius like Reagan

I'm a pretty conservative guy, but the idea that Reagan was a genius existed only in a Saturday Night Live skit. He was a good actor and knew how to read his lines, but his economic policy was virtually the same as Bambam's - he responded to the S&L crisis by spending $120 billion in taxpayer money to bail out 700+ failing S&L's. He ran huge budget deficits by cutting taxes for everyone (Bambam's only cutting taxes for people who make less than $200,000/year), while massively raising spending. His own budget chief, David Stockman, disowned the "Reagan Revolution" in not one, but two separate books. Many economists believe that the massive Reagan deficits led to the 1990 recession which, while not very deep, was the longest post-War break in terms of employment reaching pre-recession levels.

Now, Ronnie did show resolve against the Russians, and his arms build up ultimately helped win the Cold War, but that wasn't economics.

After the Carter debacle, Americans were happy to have a president who looked and sounded good, who preached basic American values, who didn't apologize for being American, and had a strong belief in America's place in the world. I give him credit for that, but an economic genius? No way.

I am just finishing a re-read of the Fountainhead to get regrounded!

For those who cannot remember, the left dispised Reagan, every bit as much as Bush. The problem is their attention span does not go back that far and for those that do they cannot combat the record.

"8 years where you guys had free reign while bowing down and worshiping W like he was a god.

Result: an unprecedented terror attack,"

Not true, remember the USS Cole, and also the World Trade Center attack 1993.

"two failed wars,"

Not true. Iraq, if managed properly, will emerge as a new and vibrant nation. Afghanistan does not equal Iraq, so we'll see how that one pans out

"the destruction of the economy"

The seeds of destruction were sowed long before Bush, and are a result of the US trade imbalances and the move to a consumer and service based economy.

"and the adopting by the US of terror techniques used by the Nazis"

Again, not true. No need to elaborate.

He's on the mark with everything, especially the knucklehead part.

KevinB @7:18AM:

"Now, Ronnie did show resolve against the Russians, and his arms build up ultimately helped win the Cold War, but that wasn't economics."

Heh.

That was entirely based on economics.

Hey Pete

Reagan tripled the deficit so he's a "genius"? Wow! No wonder you think W was so great!

Wonder why no Republcan agrees with you though, and why he left office as the most hated President in history and everyone on the Right pretends as though he never existed - even John McCain when he was running for office? Strange!

Hey Erik

9-11 wasn't 'unprecedented' (meaning unparalleled)?? You think those other incidents paralleled the biggest mass murder in US history? You think 17 people killed in the Cole bombing and six people killed in the '93 WTC bombing compares with 3000 people slaughtered in 9/11?

Wow, I know you guys go to any length to defend your demigod Bush, but that's truly pathetic!

And now you're claiming Bush waged successful wars in Iraq and Afghanistan - simply because you think so? That's pathetic again - you people have lost all ability to reason. It's like you're living in a cult.

And yes, Bush did adopt torture techniques used by the Nazis. Please show proof for your denial.

Return to your regularly scheduled hermetically sealed circle jerk, cultists.

Methinks marquis suffers from far far worse than a simple case of Bush Derangement Syndrome.
Seems to think we worship a man like a God (Mmm mm mm Barack Hussein Obama already has a statue of himself up in another country)
911 took years to put together, was simply executed under Bush's presidency, so really, Clinton is to blame for that one. Dont know much about the Cole attack, but the 1993 WTC Bombing was an attempt to take out the garage underneath the building, thus compromising the structural integrity of the entire WTC, thus bringing it down and killing oh... say... 3000+ people. Just cause it wasnt quite as successful doesnt mean it didnt happen and doesnt count.
Harsh interrogation methods employed by the Nazis were the same as those employed by the Romans, the British, the French, a fair few groups all in different time periods and frankly, if waterboarding a guy who wants me dead makes him reveal the locations of his buddies, well then... do you want hot or cold water?
Love the cultists accusation. Shows a lot of thought went into that argument. Prozac might just be what the doctor ordered.

On topic: Klavan is a genius, I watched this on a break at work and could barely keep from cheering as he pointed out the differences between reality and culture. Is he an actor?

911 was a followup to the 1993 bombing on Clintons watch .

yes Reagan blew up the Soviet Economy , a central planned economy couldnt keep pace with a supply side economy ( a real important note for Owe Bama)

George W. isnt the most hated president in US history because we still have one really trying to beat him.

Hey Irene

So your official position is that Bush isn't responsible in any way for anything that happened on his watch, right?

Good to know. Why, that isn't a mindless cultmember position at all!

Your support of W is touching though - especially even after his own party has flushed him down the memory hole. You guys are really on the dead ender fringe.

You people make Jim Jones' followers look like independent free thinkers.
