Mississauga, Ontario L5B 3C1Regarding your phone call to me tuesday evening, I would like to make it clear why we have chosen to protest the offices of Palestine House in Mississauga.
On SaturdayِApril 3rd, Palestine House will commemorate the 34th anniversary of Land Day, with Mr. Abdul Bari Atwan. Talking about Iran's nuclear capability on ANB Lebanese television on June 27, Abd Al-Bari Atwan, editor-in-chief of Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper, said, "If the Iranian missiles strike Israel, by Allah, I will go to Trafalgar Square and dance with delight."
As a Jew and a Canadian, I find this genocidal rhetoric offensive and dangerous. You referred to it as “foolish” and to just be ignored. I will never ignore those that preach genocide. A public figure with your stature and experience should know that this type of language incites hate and violence – and in today’s climate, should not be tolerated in any community. I must say, quite frankly, that I find your request for me to cancel the demonstration to be highly inappropriate.
Further, you told me that you are “intimately involved” with Palestine House – I’m not certain what “intimate involvement” means but I would suggest that you should use your influence to have this organization cancel their speaker and render a public apology.
Our protest will be organized and above all, peaceful.

Hand out fliers with these clowns' faces and rhetoric prominently displayed. Then let the public know that these idiots serve dictatorial regimes or teach in Canadian universities.

Hey, I was at Trafalgar Square last week and I saw someone dancing. I think he was just off his meds and forgot to check back in at the funny farm. He was also yelling something about "George Bush" and "Corporations" He may have actually come out of Canada House now that I think about it.
This sort of ugly propaganda is a threat to every Canadian and should be stopped. I am sure as hell glad I left Mississauga and moved west.
It would be very appropriate for everyone to write to the mayor and confirm how hideous and unacceptable this anti-Israel rhetoric is.
Never sweep hate under the table...put the spotlight on it and condemn it with every resource we have.

I don't know if gentiles are allowed to join the JDL, but it sounds like the kind of organization we should be joining; ie. one of the few organizations in Canada with the balls to stand up to this ugly stuff. We should be supporting them.
Mayor McCallion, by the way, should be massively condemned by all who oppose hatred and bigotry. And should resign.
Knowingly a hater or not, it doesn't matter... she's a public figure, and for a public figure to tolerate, with nothing stronger than toothless, disingenuous dismissal, incitement to violence against any minority group... is simply unacceptable in contemporary Canada.

Do we want free speech or not? Being appalled at what someone has to say should not be met with demands that they not be allowed to say it.
One cannot condone only those things one approves of and demand that all others should be censured or censored.
Instead, the only way to counter speech one disagrees with, or is offended by, is to shine the light of day on it.
A good, well-articulated, logical argument, dispersed in blogs, in "Letters to the Editor," or in person are examples of how to counter offensive speech.
Demanding censorship is not.
I do not recall many on this blog being in favour of the “Shakedown” mentality of the HRC’s, and other groups, who demand that opinions they do not like, or are offended by, be censored.
JBS, with one possible exception, I do not see anywhere in these comments or the original letter stating she should not be allowed to say or do what ever she wants.
What I do see are people demanding better of an elected representative.
There is a difference.
It would be foolish to join the JDL as a Gentile, but it is about as foolish as a Jew voting Liberal or NDP. The same can be said for Catholics, it's insane to vote for anyone other than the Conservatives.

Also, judging by this letter, the JDL was apparently asked not to demonstrate against Palestine House, i.e they're being asked by Hazel not to exercise their free speech rights. Seems your comments are quite misdirected.
The longer these "progressives" support Hamas & Hezbollah, the more time these mass murdering jihadis have to kill other muslims.
They are very good at mass murdering their brother muslims . . . they hate each other more than they hate the Jews, Buddists, Sikhs, Christians . . . ah hell they hate everyone and want to kill everyone.

Local elements of the Lieberals and NDP burrowing away to undermine Hazel and see her off as mayor would like nothing better than to have her get involved in some contrived dispute pitting her against the local Muslim community. If you want to protest, do it. If some bloodthirsty Islamist terrorist supporting fanatics spewing hatred show up, make the most of it.

Let's not forget that if mayor McCallion quits, she could well be replaced by something much worse: Carolyn Parrish.
Mayor McCallion has long been a political chameleon. Although by enlarge a small c conservative and sensitive to the needs of business and middle class people, she has no problem ‘throwing anybody under the bus’ if it serves her purpose. She is very good at measuring the political winds. I suspect she will have no problem wearing a Burka.

Scratch Hazel and you'll find a pretty sharp operator who knows there's more voters going to sympathize with Palestine House than with the Jewish types. This is the reality of Mississauga.
Important to note, Hazel didn't have any control over how Mississauga's population got constituted. The Liberal Party did that. They also instituted the current multi-culti madness that makes our enemies (namely Islamic fascists who use terror attacks on civilians as a weapon of war)a protected group which received funding from -all- levels of government. She's just going along to get along.
So Hazel's looking out for the main chance, which has kept her in beer and skittles for a long, long time.
That it is both immoral and long term suicide for Canada is unfortunate, I suppose. But what the hell, Hazel's never going to live to see that long term stuff anyway. She will change when the main chance changes, not before.
This is why I live in Cayuga instead of the GTA. With really long sight lines.
Notice how the Indians aren't getting things all their own way in Caledonia, despite the whole Ontario government being on their side? That's where I live.

Mississauga Valley Community Centre will be holding a meeting, organized by a terrorist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir, affiliated with Al-Qaeda.
The meeting is scheduled for Friday, Jul 31st.
I am not holding my breath as regards to you taking action and canceling the meeting. My past experience shows that Canadian authorities prefer to bend over for the terrorists rather than doing the right thing and preventing them from disseminating hatred towards the rest of nation.
The Hizb ut-Tahrir web site promoting the July 31 event in Canada also promotes a pamphlet that supports killing those individuals who leave Islam as guilty of “treason and a political attack on the Khilafah.” It is a criminal offense in Canada to call for murder.
