In Otnorot (Toronto) during the so-called "Rodney King" excuse to riot. On the 3rd night, the cops read the riot act and then did zip. Clearing the streets with machine guns would have been appropriate IMHO.
In the 30's, in Winnipeg, the authorities read the riot act and then opened fire. The COMMUNIST rioters got the message and ended their advance to Ottawa.

Ken (kulak) Your reference to Nestor Makhno is very appropriate here but most Canadians will not have a clue who you are talking about - until I started my own study of Russian history I did not know either; I thought he was the inventor of the wooden sticks and wheels (in a tube for packaging) with which my brothers built wildly unstable structures. Mr. Makhano was a very attractive charismatic leader who recruited young men to rampage the war torn countryside of The Ukraine and Romania after WWII. I have read that he was a friend of King Carol II in Romania - do you know about that Ken(kulak)? Makhano treated all he encountered with ruthless cruelty; he took no sides and he did not have any reason for killing people or for burning and pillaging the countryside. He was 'stupid' with an armed following, IMO; just like those rampaging fools in Vancouver.

Wouldn't it be nice if those advocating a new system of government (i.e. Anarchy, communism, etc.) would be penalized for their crimes according to the methods of the system they promote? If they want real anarchy, I have some friends in Ymir BC that could show them what it would mean for them. Unfortunately these rebel poseurs like Anarchy only up until the point where they get in trouble, then they hide behind the skirts of the very system they oppose.

The media tried to give the anarchists some air time, they responded by using a broom stick to push the reporter away.If they had a real cause, they would have welcomed the opportunity to voice their concerns. Some have speculated the anarchists are plants to discredit the real protesters - do not know what to think about that.

would someone from canada tell me what is up with the cbc? There are like no olympics on it anywhere. I live in a border state in the usa so we get cbc which is always nice during olympic time since nbc sux so bad, i mean who wants to listen to bob costas pontificate if bodi miller is overrated... but seriously there are no olympics on the cbc at all anywhere. they are playing "heartland" and "march of the penguins"...
anna... I think it's that the CBC is not the official televisor of the Olympics this time around. NBC is in the USA, and CTV is in Canada, elsewhere, who knows..
