In its most recent report, [the IPCC] stated that observed reductions in mountain ice in the Andes, Alps and Africa was being caused by global warming, citing two papers as the source of the information.
However, it can be revealed that one of the sources quoted was a feature article published in a popular magazine for climbers which was based on anecdotal evidence from mountaineers about the changes they were witnessing on the mountainsides around them.
The other was a dissertation written by a geography student, studying for the equivalent of a master's degree, at the University of Berne in Switzerland that quoted interviews with mountain guides in the Alps.

The AGW brand suffering from overexposure. As the grant money dries up, Pachauri will have no shortage of fiction writers that can oblige with peer reviews.
Should be good for a Nobel Prize in literature.
So Dr. Pachauri, head of the IPCC, shows himself to be just a silly, dirty old man, full of lewd imagination, who obviously has a hard time dealing with reality.
It sort of all fits.
It appears that the good doctor has experience writing fiction.
OMG, read the last link...the comments alone will leave you in stitches for hours.
Will Ravi Shankar compose a sitar porn musical score for the movie?
(Btw, I had lunch at an East Indian restaurant today, and have greatly contributed to global warming as a by-product. Darn good butter chicken, goat curry, and loads of lentils and chick peas!)
Wow...Sleezegate
I have a hard time believing that nobody checked into the references before! I can't believe that the scientific and layman community just took their word for it. Amazing.
That's interesting about the Swiss student because I've read a blog commenter (I think at Tim Blair's) reporting on a Swiss vacation saying the National Park (equivalent) guides point out that the particular glacier he was visiting was smaller in Roman days than today.

The more garbage that's found in the IPCC reports, the more skeptics are checking all the claims and references. (And finding even more garbage science). I'm hoping it snowballs into a huge train wreck for the IPCC.
Dr. Pachauri has become so wealthy "gating" us, he will live in a gated community on the Riviera for the rest of his life.
You've overlooked "Thermometergate".
So now that we know the planet isn't in any great peril the environmentalists will be celebrating and dancing in the streets, right?
It's all good news, isn't it?
is that a hockey-stick graph in your sari, or are you just happy to see me?
I'm loving this part of the article at WUWT,
WARNING ADULT CONTENT FOLLOWS:
(First time I’ve had to do that on WUWT)
“He removed his gown, slipped off his speedo and slid under the quilt on his bed… Jim Prentice put his arms around him and kissed him, first with quick caresses and then the kisses becoming longer and more passionate. Moaning we secured seventeen percent baby.
How about "Haiti earthquake-gate" -- last I heard they were blaming the Haiti earth quake on climate change.
Expect the quakery to get surreal as the fear mongers ramp up in a desperate attempt to turn the stampeding lemmings back towards the cliff.
The IPCC has a basic problem that only dissolution can cure. The organization was never set up to look dispassionately at climate change and what causes it. Its pro-AGW bias was built right into its marching orders. This is from the IPCC’s web site home page:
“The role of the IPCC is to assess on a comprehensive, objective, open and transparent basis the scientific, technical and socio-economic information relevant to understanding the scientific basis of risk of human-induced climate change, its potential impacts and options for adaptation and mitigation.” –
http://www.ipcc.ch/about/about.htm
So with absolutely no proof that human activity causes climate change, the IPCC went into business making that assumption. Is it any wonder that the organization is open to bogus scientific claims and routinely excludes evidence that casts doubt on AGW?
I predict the IPCC will continue to hang around trying to conduct business as usual before eventually succumbing to ridicule. I trust everyone heard and noted the laughter that greeted Obama when he referenced the settled science of global warming in his State of the Union Address on Jan 27. IPCC, that is your future.
wuberman, that said it all, Prentice, the Joe Clark wannabe was seduced by the comb-over porn king of India and got "sucked" off by this SCAM. I am now, for the first time in 36 years of voting conservative, teetering. Is there a real conservative party left, with Prentice's signing this, he shows his ignorance and lack of research into this SCAM. Go outside the limo Jim, it is f.....g cold out idiot!
Yet, premier chimpy mcidiot forks over $ 7 billion(on top of the billions already spent)for more windmills and solar panels.
Yet, teachers in Ontario are still pushing the AGW fairy tale.
Yet, municipalities across Ontario are expanding their multi-truck, multi-route waste collection systems.(my left nut for a high-tech, electricity producing incinerator)
I could go on, but the point is well made. These brainwashed moonbat idiots are going to spend this province into insolvency.
I guess I could always retire to Alberta if you guys manage to get rid of that red tory premier you have there now.
I know that this is hugely off-topic but there was a item just after this one - something about the 4 Mohammeds. Suddenly its gone.
Did they threaten you, Kate?
bartinsky, I'm with you on this. The last time they phoned for a donation I told them that I want to see where this buying into the fraud goes before they get another dime.
a different bob, I tried to comment on that thread also and got some weird screen. Gremlins or Ally KaBooms atwork?
Minister Prentice just aligned Canada with US policy and presented emission reduction targets to the UN yesterday. I hope cap and trade and a carbon tax are not far behind. Obviously the federal government does not believe the deniers or any of the so called "gates".
I love it that while the IPCC is undergoing China Syndrome so bad that its leader is turning to writing lurid romance novels for a living, Barry Obama is doubling down on GlowBall Warming, telling the Republican Party he's going to shut down the US coal industry.
They're not kidding this is comedy gold! You can't make stuff like this up.
I can hardly wait for these IPCC guys melt down to the water table. The steam explosion caused by half a billion metric tons of white hot enviro-BS hitting cold reality may be able to take out the whole US DemocRat Party, our Liberal Party AND the UN all at one whack.
Awesome. I'm gonna sit back with my beer and popcorn and enjoy the show.
Linking Dr. Pachauri and sex would cause most women to flee to the nearest convent and immediately take the veil. Yuck!
Prentice is an embarrassment and an idiot. I hope his constituents are taking note.
Your drugs are now peaking "T", lay down and remain calm in mommas basement, enjoy the high and stay off computers, and other reality based machines.
Hey T,
it must be something to live life lite, land of the lotus eaters comes to mind.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lotophagi
“The lotus fruits and flowers were the primary food of the island and were narcotic and addictive, causing the people to sleep in peaceful apathy.”
There is this commenter that has very hard time taking in the reality; it just must not feel good. She thinks that the newspaper story was written by someone that comments here.
Man that is a creepy photo. The guy looks like he learned to smile from a marmot. There has got to be some kind of pathology at work in that dude. He has stolen enough money to live a life of ease, his kids looked after and he still slimes for a buck.
Bartinsky, et.al. Are you saying Prentice is on drugs too for signing this? It must really get your goat all of you right wing conservatives, as Stevie is your guy and still has one of his ministers sign an emissions target document for the UN on climate change, that is much aligned with US policy. Cap and trade and a carbon tax are in the future people. Gotta love it.
Remember when we as over taxed Canadians used to joke about someday they will be taxing air? Well we have finally reached that point in our lives. Please, somebody put a stop to this evil comedy!!!
I was disappointed in the Prentice announcement. The British press is all over the topic of the IPCC and its corrupted science but in Canada, you'd barely hear of it except on blogs and the National Post. The announcement reinforces what I've feared. It was never about the climate. It was always about excuses for more taxes and wealth transfers. Both Canada and the US are facing huge deficits for the various bailouts in the past year and they're going to try to hide the subsequent increase in taxes in measures that they think the populace will swallow. For a while it looked as if everyone was on board with rescuing cute polar bears and reducing those awful emissions that were going to kill us all. Now that the science is proving dubious, they still need the taxes so they're trying hard to ignore the fact that it's crumbling about their ears. I'm sorely disappointed in the Conservative gov't. Sadly, there is no-one left to vote for unless the West gets back into separatism mode. Hey. It works for Quebec.
T Cap and trade and a carbon tax are in the future people. Gotta love it.
As a lefty, does it bother you that most of the worlds energy, oil and chemical companies all want cap and trade? they are the ones pushing it, look up the membership list of IETA, International Emissions Trading Association. It was the largest lobby group at Copenhagen.
We are being had, and they are using you to do it.
Pachauri became chief of the IPCC because the dictators and thugs at the UN didn't notice the difference between a Ph.D. in 'climatology' and 'climaxology'.
Personal politics should not provide some sort of myopic moral filter that prevents the recognition of a fraud. If right wing conservative means an individual who believes in small government, low taxation and respect for individual rights then I will wear that tag with pride. It will not get in the way of reaching intellectual conclusions based on the evidence presented. In the case of AGW, there has been no conclusive evidence that supports this theory. What was provided has proven to be demonstrably false either through manipulation, misrepresentation or outright deceit. The motivation of the participants in this fraud was not enlightened self interest; it was their personal enrichment and aggrandizement at the expense of the population. Politicians on the left and the right latched onto this as a mechanism to enact another tax and wrap themselves in the holy cloth of a fraudulent enterprise. I view all of them as quasi criminals who should be punished at the polls by an informed electorate. So T, this is directed at you and your fellow travelers. Put your personal politics aside and rid our system of political parasites that will use these scams to impoverish and ultimately enslave the population. In the case of Jim Prentice, he will get what he deserves when the population recognizes his delusion. Personally, I don’t give a damn what party you are from, I will not tolerate stupid or criminal. Vote Them OUT!
We forgot Naturaldisastergate:

T is right. Our leader is leading us down the cap'n tax road. He's already set up the cap'n tax framework, so with a flick of the switch, we will be Pachauri's bitch and it will all have been brought to you by a CPC government.
Harper has made it so that people like T, can mock cons like us. Thanks Steve.

It doesn't really matter if Prentice signed on or not. Our targets are the same as those of our largest trading partner. Obama has met none of his goals. Zero. The US economy has the ability to roar back. Ain't doin' that with Cap and Tax. We can weather it out. Time is not on 'The Big Burn's side. Panic is waning.
And more problems for wind turbines... they adversely affect radar used at airports.

"It doesn't really matter if Prentice signed on or not."
Exactly. It was just too politically difficult to confront the sea of ignorance about AGW and believers like T, so they found an excellent strategy to deal with it.
As for T mocking us, c'mon, are you really worried about some rat that sneaks in here occasionally and poops before scurrying out? BTW, judging by the prompt posts, have you ever wondered how much time it spend monitoring this website?
This 'Energy Essay' should be required reading; exam to follow!

Personally I loathe the penchant for tacking the hackneyed suffix -gate on anything that reeks of scandal. Such is the way of tiny minds suffering from a lack of creativity or imagination.
"Climategate: time for the tumbrils
A mighty outpouring of rage today from Philip Stott, foaming with righteous indignation, on the life and imminent death of the AGW scam.
Part of him is naturally enthralled:
… as an independent academic, it has been fascinating to witness the classical collapse of a Grand Narrative, in which social and philosophical theories are being played out before our gaze. It is like watching the Berlin Wall being torn down, concrete slab by concrete slab, brick by brick, with cracks appearing and widening daily on every face – political, economic, and scientific.
He recognises that this an era of massive geopolitical power shifts:
The humiliating exclusion of Britain and the EU at the end of the Copenhagen débâcle was partially to be expected, but it was brutal in its final execution. The swing of power to the BASIC group of countries (Brazil, South Africa, India, China) had likewise been signified for some time, but, again, it came with precipitate ease, leaving even the American President, Barack Obama, with no doubts as to where the political agenda on climate change was now heading, namely to the developing world, but especially to the East, and to the Pacific Rim. The dirigiste tropes of ‘Old Europe’, with its love of meaningless targets and carbon capping, will no longer carry weight, while Obama himself has been straitjacketed by the voters of Massachusetts, by the rust-belt Democrats, by a truculent Congress, by an increasingly-sceptical and disillusioned American public, but, above all, by the financial crisis. Nothing will now be effected that for a single moment curbs economic development, from China to Connecticut, from Africa to Alaska.
But his overwhelming mood is one of white-hot fury at the way so many of his fellow scientists have colluded in this nauseating conspiracy:
But his overwhelming mood is one of white-hot fury at the way so many of his fellow scientists have colluded in this nauseating conspiracy:
And what can one say about ‘the science’? ‘The ‘science’ is already paying dearly for its abuse of freedom of information, for unacceptable cronyism, for unwonted arrogance, and for the disgraceful misuse of data at every level, from temperature measurements to glaciers to the Amazon rain forest. What is worse, the usurping of the scientific method, and of justified scientific scepticism, by political policies and political propaganda could well damage science sensu lato – never mind just climate science – in the public eye for decades. The appalling pre-Copenhagen attacks by the British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, and his climate-change henchman, Ed Miliband, on those who dared to be critical of the science of climate change were some of the most unforgivable I can recall.
I first met Professor Stott a couple of years ago. He’s emeritus professor of biogeography at the University of London, and I tracked him down because in those days he was pretty much the ONLY senior scientific academic anywhere in Britain brave enough publicly to dispute the AGW ‘consensus.”
We had lunch. “There are many more scientists who think the way I do,” he told me. “But they don’t want to stick their heads above the parapet. They don’t want to lose their jobs.” We talked a bit about the loneliness of our position, how impossible it was to place dissenting articles anywhere in the media, how people who thought like us were treated like pariahs."

There was no need for Prentice to sign on to this fraud. If he and this government really believe in this bullshit AGW and it sure looks like they do, then they might as well start calling themselves what they really are...liberals. Nice gutless move Steve and Jim. You just pissed off your real friends. Good luck with your new support base. I'm done with you guys.
Front page article in the Calgary Herald today "Tories Back Off Climate Target". Focus, of course, is on critics comments starting with the Suzuki Foundation, then Greenpeace with not a single mention (surprise, surprise) of any of the AGWgates.
Adding Sarah McGinnis to my growing list of AWG party members and complicit supporters/reporters (Kelly Cryderman already on the list) for future reference when this finally comes completely unravelled.
Thankfully, Prentice sticking with idea that Canada's policy will be based largely on what the Barry does. Cap and Trade already dead in the U.S. Senate and Nov. mid-terms will, hopefully, complete the turning of the tide that started in Massachusetts.
Personally I loathe the penchant for tacking the hackneyed suffix -gate on anything that reeks of scandal. Such is the way of tiny minds suffering from a lack of creativity or imagination.
I know what you mean Edward Teach.
However, recall, the first GATE was Watergate, wherein Nixon was hounded out of office for what, now, would be considered a fairly minor political crime, if you'll excuse that redundant phrase.
SO, using the "-gate" is a continuing reminder to the left of that inequitable iniquity -- a form of vengeful irony.
"However, recall, the first GATE was Watergate, wherein Nixon was hounded out of office for what, now, would be considered a fairly minor political crime, if you'll excuse that redundant phrase."
...which took place at the Watergate Hotel. An establishment that is still on operation today under the same name, and I don't recall the hotel having anything to do with what took place. The point being that the name of the establishment really had nothing to do with what took place and the label "Watergate" really wasn't appropriate. Plus Watergate is one word, not two, nor is it hyphenated, so there isn't even really a suffix there in the first place that could lend itself to being used in such an annoying fashion by journalist hacks and other mediocre intellects.
Kate, you forgot to mention "Harpergate" ??? ( http://fairwhistleblower.ca/content/fair-website-called-most-dangerous-ottawa ) Or, is it too dangerous to mention...
Somebody get that Pachuri dude a personal groomer for cripes sake.
