Donna Laframboise has been playing with the AR4 search function;
When one types "WWF" into an AR4 search box dozens of references are returned.
For example, a WWF report is cited twice on this page as the only supporting proof of IPCC statements about coastal developments in Latin America. A WWF report is referenced twice by the IPCC's Working Group II in it concluding statements. There, the IPCC depends on the WWF to define what the global average per capita "ecological footprint" is compared to the ecological footprint of central and Eastern Europe.
Elsewhere, when discussing "mudflows and avalanches" linked to melting glaciers, the oh-so-scientifically-circumspect IPCC relies on two sources to make its point - an apparently still unpublished paper delivered to a conference five years earlier (Bhadra, 2002) and a WWF document.
Similarly, the only reason the IPCC can declare that "Changes in climate are affecting many mountain glaciers, with rapid glacier retreat documented in the Himalayas, Greenland, the European Alps, the Andes Cordillera and East Africa" is because a WWF reportmakes this claim.
In a section on coral reefs and mangroves, a WWF report is the IPCC's sole reason for believing that, in "the Mesoamerican reef there are up to 25 times more fish of some species on reefs close to mangrove areas than in areas where mangroves have been destroyed."
When the IPCC advises world leaders that "climate change is very likely to produce significant impacts on selected marine fish and shellfish (Baker, 2005)" it doesn't call attention to the fact that the sole authority on which this statement rests is a WWF workshop project report....
Nice work. Be sure to distribute it widely.

What the hell do professional wrestlers know about the environment. Geez, even their "wrestling" is fake.
I agree, nice work.
wrestling or environment WWF, it's all good in the Wonderful World of Fakery.
Almost every nature show talks about how global warming or climate change is melting the Alp's glaciers or the Arctic Ocean ice cover is shrinking. This fraud is so pervasive what with kids being told by their teachers about drowning Polar Bears or rising seas. The MSM is ignoring the IPCC admitted lies on the Himalayas' glaciers melting.
There is so much money as we have noted in this for these crooks that it will be long fight to win the day on this one.
One more good Canadian exposing the fraud.
Website was linked from eureferundum earlier today and it's a good one that shows who's making the money in this scam.
Tip of the iceberg, I'd guess.
WWF - wild weather fantasies
WWF - whiners wanting funds
WWF - Weather Welfare Fraud
WWF - World Wide Fakery
give me time, I'm sure I can come up with more
They were probably given enough money to bribe some big names to give them good cover but instead chose enviroclowns like WWF to front the scam for peanuts. Penny wise and pound foolish like most socialist millionaires. The UN stench is omnipresent.
The World Wrestling Federation (WWF) were forced by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in a lawsuit, to change their name for copyright infringement.
That resulted in the Wrestling Federation to change their name to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) but they poked fun at the WWF by advertising the change with slogans like:
" WWE Getting the F out!" and "WWE, No F!"
Well I think given the activities of the WWF, they too should change their name to World Wildlife Entertainment, WWE = no more F'n facts, just fantasy entertainment.
WWF vs WWE
It is easy to get confused between the World Wildlife Fund and World Wrestling Entertainment.
Here is how to tell them apart: One gets crowds wildly excited with staged antics, bizarre plot lines and unbelievable hype. The other stages wrestling exhibitions.
wieners wasting funds
halfwise wins! LOL
Wonder what PT Barnum would say about the current world population? There's one born every nanosecond?
I am appalled at our gullibility. But, as stated by many previously, I am more appalled by how this myth/fraud has penetrated our schools, and how fascism is used by schools to brainwash the next generation to believe that their parents and grandparents have destroyed the earth.
I posted this earlier in yesterday's climate fraud thread. I think it is important. The assertion that hurricanes and floods and extreme weather around the world has been caused by AGW just ain't true. The IPCC was caught again... They still insist that despite the increasing polar bear population, the glaciers that are not melting, the sea levels that are not rising, islands that are not flooding, the temperatures that are not increasing, their data that is flawed and likely fraudulent, they still insist that these are minor blips and their theories are sound,so send us your money. The saddest part of it all,is that unless we have a leader with cojones,or someone who really needs a boost (I'm thinking TOTUS's bud)we will suffer .---http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/environment/article7000063.ece
I stopped supporting the WWF several years ago when they got on the global warming kick and started using polar bears in their advertising. I wrote and told them that. Fortunately the Marmot Foundation is a Canadian charity dedicated to improving the number of Vancouver Island Marmots and that's where my animal charitable donations go now.
A curious case of circular reasoning.
The Federation shilling for the Borg and the Borg citing the Federation as an authority in it's bid for a global takeover of mankind.
OT but did any-one else read the Vanc. Sun story with the headline "Incomplete data may mean warming is worse"? It spins the line that because GISS and whoever else does the temperatures only chooses to use one station,Eureka, in northern Canada we aren't getting the truth about the real warming in the north. Quite a read. It includes a Hansen temper tantrum.
I other words there is a bunch of people in the WWF and the IPCC whose imaginations are running wild.
It's worse than "imaginations running wild"
WWF is the 1001 club. There is a tiny mention of this on wikipedia. But then there is "the rest of the story" as they say:
http://www.isgp.eu/organisations/1001_Club.htm
Finally, we get to see another connection.
"Unfortunately for the world, Al Gore is backed by the most powerful interests in the Anglo-American liberal establishment, resulting in almost zero opposition to the theory that human-produced CO2 is the major cause for the warming of the earth. The WWF is just one establishment institute that blindly supports Al Gore's theories."
"Al Gore would be the perfect 1001 Club member, and he could well be one. Unfortunately there are no recent membership lists available, so the only thing that can be concluded is that Gore's mentors have been among the membership of the 1001: Maurice Strong, Edmund de Rothschild, and David Rockefeller. As has been documented quite extensively in ISGP's old introduction article, these are the people who set up the globalist-environmental agenda in the 1970s and 1980s, and were the earliest funders and promoters of human-induced global warming theories. And they are still involved."
We are funding them federally too!
WWF, blah. If we're going to fight then I suggest we recruit Brock Lesnar. That guy is scary.
Canada has become a chicken coop with us all being plucked for supper.
It is interesting to note, here in Ontario, that Dalton McGuinty's Principle Secretary, Mr. Gerald Butts, left his position to become head of WWF Canada. A busy man, Mr. Butts is taking part in the Canadian Internation Council and Global Positioning Project for Canada, where he will be helping to formulate ideas before the 2010 G8 Summit in Huntsville. He is also part of the Sustainability Project at the National Roundtable on the Environment and the Economy. Among other things, he is also a board member of Canada 2020. which describes itself as a 'progressive centre'. Curious schedule for the head of the World Wildlife Fund.
The Chairman of the UK Met Office, Rober Napier, used to be the head of WWF UK.

Look up a few comments Fred ;)
And Kate, thank you for linking to this lady's blog. Interesting stuff, especially the other page she does.
It was strangely comforting to read Burt Rutan (a personal hero of mine for decades) has not only not drunk of the koolaid, but really hammered home his point.
Another link to the WWF from EUReferendum.

James Delingpole of the UK Telegraph wrote an article in which he reports James Hansen is voluntarily endorsing a book called Times Up" written by Keith Farnish. Here are two quotes from that article. Janes Hansen is the top scientist at NASA
"If there is one scientist more responsible than any other for the alarm over global warming it is Dr Hansen, who set the whole scare in train back in 1988 with his testimony to a US Senate committee chaired by Al Gore. Again and again, Dr Hansen has been to the fore in making extreme claims over the dangers of climate change. (He was recently in the news here for supporting the Greenpeace activists acquitted of criminally damaging a coal-fired power station in Kent, on the grounds that the harm done to the planet by a new power station would far outweigh any damage they had done themselves.)
"The only way to prevent global ecological collapse and thus ensure the survival of humanity is to rid the world of Industrial Civilization".
Now, search UN Agenda 21 and see what the critics have to say. This is pretty scary stuff when you factor in Climategate.
Here is the link to Delingpole's article.

Richard at eureferendum is on a roll. As they say on the radio..
The hits just keep on comin!!
I think it is due time to de-list a few of these advocacy groups as charities. Sea Shepherd, GreenPeace and others don't do any good works. PETA should be taxed 110% of income. I have always favoured a stupidity tax. We do have Lottos but I don't have to play.
The IPCC scandal: the African data was sexed up, too

Create a huge, exaggerated lie and run with it. If caught, toss the throwaway parts under the bus so as to appear thoughtful, reflective and repentant. Continue with core of lie to achieve goals while denouncing detractors as being intolerant, ignorant and conspiracy-mongers.
I wonder where this concept came from, does anyone know?
De-list as a charity. Also GreenPeace, Sea Shepherd and tax PETA at 110% of donations.
PiperPaul I think governments have been doing that forever.
Oh. Well that's OK then. Carry on, nothing to see here.
Just to make people aware of something...in the last number of months the movement to charge for plastic grocery bags has swept across this country...some provinces may have had the 3 cent/5 cent/whatever cent charge in place for quite some while already...many grocery chains are donating the proceeds from the plastic bag sales to the WWF...I'd say it is time to raise the issue with store managers and demand they fund something else with the money besides the WWF if they want to keep your business.
Glen:
If you have the names of the grocery chains, please let us know.
That way, we could contact them directly with our concerns.
You know, its always interesting what turns up when you follow the money. And one -really- interesting thing is that a lot of the foundations that fund the WWF and lots of other global warming things also show up on the list that contributes heavily to gun control organizations.
Like Kooky Wendy Cukier's clown circus, ferinstance. A quick perusal of her major donors reads like a Who's Who in envirowhackoland.
Which gives one pause when considering the deeper implications of environmentalism's long term goals, yes? Lefties don't like it when the peasants can resist, know what I mean?
Great to hear from Ms Laframboise. She used to appear regularly in large dailies and on TV talks shows about ten years ago debunking various politically correct myths. Come to think of it, that's probably why we don't see her so much anymore as that kind of thing makes you unpopular with most news directors. Anyway, she's obviously been busy and doing great work.
Plus, her name means "raspberry" and I get a kick out of that.
Phantom....
Revolutionary imagry generally has torches and pitchforks.....because the peasants are otherwise unarmed.
This is why the Obama/Pelosi/Reid axis is so hysterical about firarms.
For millenia...the torches and pitchforks did the job......disarming the peasants is impossible.

"*UN's rogue glacier claim 'was just one page in report', says IPCC deputy
Calls for the resignation of the embattled head of the UN climate change body were dismissed by its vice-chairman today as the organisation sought to repair its damaged credibility.
The discredited claim that Himalayan glaciers could disappear by 2035 because of global warming was just “one page in a 938-page report”, said Professor Jean-Pascal van Ypersele, vice-chairman of the Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
Mr van Ypersele praised the IPCC chairman, Dr Rajendra Pachauri, for devoting his life to his work on climate change, rejecting accusations that the misleading data had been used to claim grants for Dr Pachauri’s research institute.
He did, however, criticise Dr Pachauri for last year accusing the Indian Government of peddling “voodoo science” when it questioned the IPCC’s claims about Himalayan glaciers."

Kate thanks for posting. WWF used to be very decent, now they are awful.
AtlanticJim thanks very much for pointing out the Burt Rutan item. I wouldn't have clicked on the link had you not made mention of him.

I've never been able to find out if it is the local chain stores, as individuals, donating the proceeds to the WWF or it is policy set out by their head offices.
Imagine the shock of my friend out Christmas shopping and being asked to purchase a 100% organic cotton shopping bag from a specialty shop with 2$ of the purchase price of the bag going to the WWF. The buggars are everywhere!
I'd check with your own local store, wherever you are in Canada, if they are charging for plastic bags, just what they are doing with the money...personally I'd like to see it go to local foodbanks instead of the WWF charlatans...and have voiced my opinion to my own local stores.

The IPCC “Flavor of the day”-gate is now the Amazon Rain Forest. What will tomorrow’s flavor be?"
"At first sight, the reference looks kosher enough but, following it through, one sees:
This, then appears to be another WWF report, carried out in conjunction with the IUCN – The International Union for Conservation of Nature.
The link given is no longer active, but the report is on the IUCN website here. Furthermore, the IUCN along with WWF is another advocacy group and the report is not peer-reviewed. According to IPCC rules, it should not have been used as a primary source.
It gets even better. The two expert authors of the WWF report so casually cited by the IPCC as part of its, ahem, “robust” “peer-reviewed” process weren’t even Amazon specialists. One, Dr PF Moore, is a policy analyst:"

"Conning the climate:
Inside the carbon-trading shell game
By Mark Schapiro
No, it’s not abstract, up there in the clouds!” exclaimed Talita Beck. “I can see it. I can measure it.” We were talking about carbon emissions; Beck is an emissions assessor, a profession that did not exist a decade ago. Several times a month, she leaves her office in São Paulo, Brazil, in search of greenhouse gases—or, more precisely, to visit sites that have promised to emit less of them. Such commitments, whether made by malodorous pig farms, squalid city dumps, or rural sugarcane-processing mills, can be transformed into money by companies thousands of miles away, in Britain or Germany or Japan or any other country that has ratified the Kyoto Protocols.

"Banks Pull Out Of Carbon Offset Market after Copenahagen
Monday, Jan 25, 2010
Banks and investors are pulling out of the carbon market after the failure to make progress at Copenhagen on reaching new emissions targets after 2012.
Carbon financiers have already begun leaving banks in London because of the lack of activity and the drop-off in investment demand. The Guardian has been told that backers have this month pulled out of a large planned clean-energy project in the developing world because of the expected fall in emissions credits after 2012.
Anthony Hobley, partner and global head of climate change and carbon finance at law firm Norton Rose, said: "People will gradually start to leave carbon desks, we are beginning to see that already. We are seeing a freeze in banks' recruitment plans for the carbon market. It's not clear at what point this will turn into a cull or a rout."
Paul Kelly, chief executive of EcoSecurities, which develops clean energy projects, said that while markets had not expected a definitive post-Kyoto Protocol deal at Copenhagen, they had expected some progress.
"The lack of regulatory certainty in the post 2012 world affects the market's view of what CERs [carbon credits from clean energy projects] will be worth and subsequently will constrain financing for projects. If you had an agreement at Copenhagen with a bit more detail, people would be more willing to take risk."
After two weeks of extenuating talks, world leaders delivered an agreement in Copenhagen that left campaigners disappointed as it failed to commit rich and poor countries to any greenhouse gas emission reductions.
Banks had been scaling back their plans to invest in carbon markets before Copenhagen. Fewer new clean energy projects need to be financed as, because of the recession, there are fewer global emissions to offset. The price of carbon credits has also fallen, while plans to introduce national trading schemes, particularly in the US and Australia, remain uncertain.
Two sources said that Australian bank Westpac had scaled back plans to increase its carbon desk in London. A bank spokeswoman denied there were plans to recruit more staff in London, adding: "We have always said that we would look to grow this business organically as carbon markets develop and that remains the case.""
